Very long comments from me regarding to the disgraceful interview : Ms Markle lied she didn't know anything about the royal family: she knew, she used to have a blog where she wrote about Prince William and Kate's wedding, she was pictured in front of the Buckingham Palace at age 15, her idol was Diana, she wore Harry’s mom favourite’s perfume in their first date and she knew Princess Eugenie before met with Harry She said her son is not a prince due to his race: It is because of King George V's law, as Archie is the great grandson of the monarch and not direct line of throne, he didn't get prince title. He will, when Charles will be King as Archie is his grandson (though after his parents moved to different country, stepped back from royal duties, threw trash to the royals, lived in the UK for only 7 months, I don't think so he will ever get any title). Also needs to mention, Meghan was very welcomed in the family and she got title.. furthermore Archie is the copy of his father except his eyes - even his skin colour. She didn't want to show curtsy to the Queen as she's Harry's grandmother. Everyone knows, you have to curtsy to the Queen, disrespectful not do it. She said they got married 3 days before their wedding: the Archbishop of Canterbury denied it, their marriage certificate says they married on 19th May, the day what we saw on the TV, also in the UK you need to have 2 witnesses - she said it was just 3 of them with a bishop - so a big lie again. So in less then 2 years at age 21, she had to be wife, mother, Princess of Wales, with royal duties and responsibilities, also a pressure as a mom of the future King and as a future Queen. Her marriage with Charles was by duty not by love. She knew her husband cheated her with Camilla for years. She was shy and humble, not searching for attention at all, she was the Princess of the People - oh, yes, and always told the truth. Meghan got married with Harry at almost 40, mature, independent, knows-what-she-wants, already divorced woman. At the age she married with Harry, Diana was already dead. She was the oldest royal bride (Camila is exception, cause it was Charles' second marriage, and it didn't hold in church). She knew what family she married into. She was a celebrity, she enjoys fame, limelight, attention. She likes when everything is about her, and when everyone gives her right. As Harry said: What Meghan wants, she gets - tells everything about their relationship. Even in this interview, Meghan was the leader. Harry said, Meghan was the one who told him he is trapped (how could he trapped? he was born into this family and he was fine for 35 years) and she saves him and she quickly interrupted and corrected her husband: he saved them. But in the royal family you have to be humble, respectful, boastful people like Meghan doesn't fit in. She is very manipulative too. She turned against her family, and then she turned her husband against his family. Little Archie and baby sister will not have any family members except their parents and maternal grandma. No great grandma, grandpas, uncles, aunties, cousins.. no one, no family bonds. Diana would be the saddest seeing how her younger son turned against his family. She said, she wants to see William as a King supported by his brother, Harry. She supported and respected her country and the Monarchy she would never left her country, in the interview she said the monarchy is her children's future. She had problems with Charles and Camilla, but she was always faithful to her nation. Also, she was sad when she was forced to divorce from Charles, she didn't want to break out from the royal family. I used to really like Harry (after his youth scandals) and I really hope, at least now that his grandfather died, will realize, how important family is and finish this childlish behaviour, because he just embarrass himself. If he wants to protect Meghan he doesn't have to attack and betray his own family and hurt others. Also was very disrespectful this interview at the time, Prince Philip was in the hospital in bad conditions with heart surgery - and they knew it but didn't care.
In addition to everything else that has been said I think the timing of the interview was carefully planned. It went out just before the Commonwealth day. A day of unity between many varied countries, many of them with a black or brown populations, now got overshadowed by racism allegations against the RF. And the Queen has dedicated her whole life to the Commonwealth, up from 8 countries when she got married to 53 today. She claimed she only wanted a title for Archie so he would have security. That's wrong, not all royals have security. The decision on which members of the Royal Family get protections is made by the U.K. Home Office, and Metropolitan police. Scotland yard reviews the need of security for each of the royals and can upgrade/downgrade their need. The Royal family can make requests but doesn't make the decision. And Archie would have been covered by his parents security. One last thing that makes Meghan look petty. She kept using the name Kate and it's a nickname Catherine hates and none of the royals would ever use it, especially not in public. And since it's something the tabloids knows annoy the dutchess they will never stop using it, and apparently it's the same now for Meghan.
None of this is shocking. It is a reality that many people know. The royal family has been like this for centuries, Koodoos to Harry for taking the initiative to do what it takes to save his family.

Mental Health does not discriminate... Personally, I'm average in terms of social class, but I would not exchange my life to live theirs. I realize that my privacy and freedom are privileges they did not have and no money in the world could make me want to give up these things. It's mind blowing that people think that because you are rich, you should automatically be happy.
There was more opportunity for privacy there than they appear to want now. Of course they were on show when they were working, which wasn't very often, but living on the Windsor Estate they had every chance to be private. As for freedom, most people have to work so are not free all the time, but they had a great many European holidays and Meghan even had a couple of trips to the US - one to go to the US Open tennis and the other for a baby shower. I think you'll find that most people would be delighted to have so much freedom.

However, let's temper that empathy a bit by considering a wider picture. Firstly, the whole planet does not scrutinize what the British royal family does. Your average Croatian could probably not tell you who is the next in line for the throne, which of the family are alive or dead, or why Diana was so very popular in her time. Secondly, the fact they are rich and famous has its own problems - but to compare them to the problems of people who are barely surviving is hubris. And those people barely surviving don't only exist in "third world countries", but in both of their home countries. It is not trivial that Oprah and the media fawns over royal drama while neglecting those real and much more serious issues of socio-economic inequality. And thirdly, in my view, Meghan, Harry and the rest of them would benefit from practicing the fine art of not giving a fuck. The idea that the British monarchy teeters on what the media says about it is an illusion. If anything, the family (the firm?) will be most at risk when there is no new scandal coming up to put them back on the front pages. Their job is to create drama so that UK citizens forget to ask the important question of, why do we even need these people? Again, I have empathy for Harry, Meghan, their kids, but also for Elizabeth, William, Kate, Charles, and the rest. As a British resident for 25 years I remember watching in amazement as Meghan Markle was welcomed into the royal family. The welcome tours she and Harry did in England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland where thousands came to greet and welcome her. A first for any royal bride to be. Her invitations to Christmas and other royal activities pre-marriage, a first for any royal bride to be. I remember the wedding which broke with royal traditions with significant nods to her black heritage and who can forget Prince Charles walking her down the aisle and the compassion he showed to her mother. I remember the newspaper reports that the queen had assigned her most trusted aides to her to help her transition to royal life. I remember the British tabloids heralding Markle Sparkle and modernization of the British Monarchy. The formation of the fabulous four working on Mental Health ( albeit with no doubt that William and Kate were rightfully top bill). This all happened with the backdrop of Meghans family providing negative interviews about her in the press and details of her life and treatment of others being made public for the first time. Then once married, I watched as Meghan did things her way: her constant holding of hands and Harry, while they were at work representing the queen (for anyone about to object, this is not likely to happen with a married couple who share a business when dealing with clients). I saw her and Harry move away from the Fabulous Four, as they felt they were not getting enough coverage, create their own social media and causes. I saw them hire their own PR teams, and with as many as 7 articles about them on yahoo per day it was clear that this team was clearly put to work. I remember their discussions on climate change while travelling mainly on private planes. I remember her holding her bump constantly in a way that detracted from anything else being said or done at an event. I remember them being booed on the night in question at the Royal Albert Hall (probably why she was crying when the lights were off). I remember their break with tradition of Lindo wing (ps photographers were waiting for that photoop no one had to ask you to ask for that picture). I remember them controlling the birth announcement of Archie which contradicted with timing with the Palaces announcement. I remember that no official picture, interview or display to the press was given when Archie was born (until much later). The public was left to speculate about whether he had red hair, what shade he was (yes even black people were keen to know). Then I remember their exit and their wish to pursue financial independence and the RF insistence that you are either in our out All of this shows that these two people have done it their way from start to finish and were allowed to make many of their own decisions. The fact the many of these decisions were faulty and diminished their poularity is on them. In the desire of wanting and having their own privacy, they have called in camera crews to watch them lay wreaths on soldiers graves, they have collaborated on a book , they have announced their miscarriage, they have announced pregnancy. In fact their one goal is to create a brand that would eclipse William and Kate. When all else failed they double down on explosive claims of racism and mental health. All press is good press to stay relevant. While there may be elements of unconscious bias in the royal family, as there are in all organisations, I do not believe it rises to the level of racism. While insensitive comments can be made, they were made within a family and which one of us has not had that happen in our family. I truly hope this is their last word on this matter. They would do well to find a real cause and message. Bashing your family is not a sustainable option. I forgot to mention I am BLACK.
I concur. But I knew all was not well when the only person who attended the wedding from Meghan's family was the mother. Meghan is very calculating. I remember reading an article by a friend of hers whom she starts shunning immediately she met Harry. The friend said she knew she'd be doing what she is doing now... just that she did it so soon.
Well said. I remember all of this too and let’s not forget Kate was not afforded certain privileges Meghan was I.e visiting Balmoral for Christmas before she and Harry married. They want their cake... life just doesn’t work that way. There are only two years between Harry and William. The thing that I find most interesting is that neither one of them are bad-mouthing the royal family here as they are not the bad people; it's the institution of the royal family that they are complaining about and that makes perfect sense. It's the people that are there that keep everything traditional and have strict rules and regulations that are the problems with the royals.
I know people think that this is just "two privileged people talking about how horrible their lives are" but maybe that's actually the lesson to take away from all this. Being privileged doesn't always mean that your life is better; in fact, sometimes that privilege is a double-edged sword. Maybe that will encourage us to be more critical of our own privileges.

That means that Prince George, the eldest son of Prince William, automatically became a prince but not Archie, even though they are both great-grandsons of the Queen. I don't judge or criticize how she may have felt, or still does, I simply take umbrage with how the whole world then needs to stop and join the pity party of two very privileged individuals, be it financial, social, political or other, while they throw their families under the bus. Who cares what others think of you or say about you, nor what they call you. Worry instead what you answer to, what you rise to or rise above, and always worry about how you, yourself, treat others.
