homer is at his best when he means well but is oblivious....that scene defines that...not when he is jerkass or cocky or thinks he is the best or worst....I like it when he is happy go lucky with brain who thinks about consequences and lets his emotions out...

It was good episode, but I wouldn't say it was top 10 good. Actually whatever season the Frank Grimes episode was in, that was the season where the Simpsons slowly started to go down hill. It was still a good season, just not prime Simpsons.

I think the decay started in season 9, which is one after the Frank Grimes one. 9 is still good, but from 1 to 8 is pure classic.

Get Ass in season 7 you have so many classics. For example: King sized homer Mother Simpson A fish named Selma Bart on the road 22 short films about Springfield (steamed hams) Homer the Smithers Bart sells his soul Home sweet homediddly- the one where Flanders “adopts” Bart and Lisa and Maggie and tries to get them baptized. Marge be not proud And two bad neighbours. So many classics are in season seven, I would include it in the godly ages. Same with season 8.

Here's the great thing about The Simpsons: in the comments section below, people who I'll never meet give their favourite episodes and their top 5s and even though they're not in this video, they're all plausibly choices for the number 1 spot. "Maggie Makes Three" is my favorite Simpsons episode. It really shows Homer's loving, fatherly side, and it tells the tale of why he tolerates working in the hellhole of the nuclear power plant. Even though Homer is part of a dysfunctional middle-class family, and proves to be an idiot from time-to-time, this episode really shows the best example that Homer puts forward-effort into being a dad; and I think that's why people loved the older seasons of The Simpsons so much!

The best episodes are when Bart and schoolmates go on a road trip to the defunct World Fair and the other one is when Bart breaks his leg and stuck in his room all summer while Lisa becomes popular and Bart suspects Flanders of murdering Maude. Season 1 is brilliant. Even if the animation hasn't aged well the themes that the episodes deal with (bullying, depression, adultery; just to name a few) and the fact that it was so family-centric probably made it the most engaging and relatable of all the series. It's not "daft" humour which the show degenerated into, it was well written, clever and identifiable with most families. Even if it's not your favourite season of The Simpsons, it's easily the most important.

Some of my favourite off the top of my head are - Cape Feare - Raging Abe Simpson and His Grumbling Grandson in "The Curse of the Flying Hellfish" - Bart vs Australia - The Secret War of Lisa Simpson - Lisa the Vegetarian - Homer’s barbershop quartet - Lemon of Troy - Bart after Dark - Deep Space Homer I always forget how good the Simpsons was. Everything from Seasons 1-9 is good. Seasons 10-12 were mostly meh with some good ones. 13 is absolutely shit, not a single good episode. 14 starts off with a few good episodes but then quickly turns to shit like 13. 15 was great, it belongs with the classics. 16-18 were neither great nor bad. Some episodes were amazing, but most were just mediocre. 19-20 are shit again, as is the movie. The only recent seasons I've liked are 24, 26, and 27. Believe it or not, but they're actually really good, I daresay as good as many of the classic seasons.

+Johtonian Ali I own seasons 2-12 on DVD, I just keep re-watching them over and over. I'm on Season 11 right now... I agree the three episodes you mentioned are pretty awful...however there are still a few gems. Mel Gibson episode...Homer Food Critic, Tomacco...lol...PBS...Elmo knows where you live. The huge red flag for me is that nearly every episode had a terrible celebrity guest...besides Mel Gibson and Betty White... all of the other episodes had AWFUL celebrity guest stars... Gary Coleman...Butch Patrick...Mark McGwire...Britney Spears...**shutters**.

the best was going into a store where they played the simpson episode where they go into the gay factory by mistake and homer realizes this once they start partying. Everyone in the store couldnt stop laughing.

Or where Bart gives up Santa's Little Helper for another dog? Or the episode about how The Simpsons got Santa's Little Helper? Or the one where Homer gets Lisa her saxophone? The one where Homer becomes the leader of a secret society? The Mr. Plow episode? The episode dealing with Moe's ugliness? Bart going into show business with Krusty the Clown? Krusty the Clown meeting up with his father? Apu's unfaithfulness? Lisa becoming a vegetarian? Bart selling his soul? Bart becoming smarter than Lisa? Camp Krusty episode? Bart chopping off the head of the Jebediah Springfield statue. I could go on. Sorry watchmojo but I think you'll find it's story not gags which make the really great Simpsons episodes. The writers seem to have forgotten this.
