Steamcore Scholar is such a sleeper that it didn't even made your list. This card is so underrated and heavily underplayed. 2 copies of this amazing card are in all my control decks with blue. Love that card.
So with Hinata in play I can cast dopplegang on 3 targets for 8 then copy that dopplegang for 3 with see double so for the same 11 mana required to dopplegang x=3 I can get x=3 2x and hit the same target whammmmm I really think it's time to dust off Hinata just gotta find a way to keep her alive.... Tamiya blessing maybe 🤔
Dev if you like shigeki loops and underrated deck I’ve got a sultai ninjas deck that got second and third at my lgs only losing to sheoldred/reckoner bankbuster
I hate to be that guy. Especially since I strive to spread love and be kind most of the time. But Dev made a small mistake at 3:12. Gleeful demolition creates phyrexian goblin tokens, and thus they aren't subject to Phyrexian Censor's ability.
Gleeful Demolition itself is not a Phyrexian spell though. So a player will not be able to cast an additional spell. The Phyrexian Goblins will not come in tapped though.
Dev, I like your list so much that i have things to say about it. This is a sweet list, so it's basically all positive. I also added a few of my own entries. Food for thought. Tarrian's Journal - You missed the interaction with Case of the Crimson Pulse I've been bugging you about since that nutty card was revealed in spoiler season. Journal on 2, Case on 3, fill your yard a little. Then on 4, play a 2-mana spell, could be removal or a creature - then discard your hand and flip the Journal. Going into turn 5 your Case is solved, Journal is a land and is sort of ramp as you can be on 6 mana this turn (Olivia!) and you can reanimate stuff if you like. Each turn, the Case fills your graveyard and refills your hand. These two cards go great together, forming a cool Rakdos Reanimator shell to build a deck around. I'm on Olivia with huge creatures like Etali and Phyrexian Fleshgorger, but you've also enlightened me to Capricious Hellraiser, which is an easy fit with the Case filling my graveyard and the Dragon then costing 3. Disgusting. Cosmic Rebirth - Great choice, I love this card. I sideboard the card against aggro, as bringing back a lifelinker mid-combat is often an absolute blowout. Green Sun's Twilight - I love this cycle of cards, so there's some bias here but have you tried this out like, ever? I ran it in monoG and I enjoyed the scalability on this immensely. It also triggers Beanstalk, which feels real good to do. Polukranos Reborn - Remember Cosmic Rebirth? Not only is it a 4/5 reach creature you can target with CR, but cast it during combat or EOT with the mana to flip it next turn and your opponent is in for some trouble. Eaten by Piranhas - This entry looks like a joke. It is not. I've been messing around with Errant and Giada lately, and this card has quickly crept its way up from 2 then to 3 and now to 4 copies. I am very impressed with this card. I have blown out many a Dino deck by turning their Hammerskulls or Etali's into 1/1's. Heck, I once won a game by attaching this to a transformed Etali. This feels like true removal in blue and is almost never played around. Repulsive Mutation - Yes, this card is new so maybe it doesn't count, but man, does it feel powerful. I've been using it in a simic Slime Against Humanity deck, supplemented by a playset of Haughty Djinn. Pumping a creature and countering a spell at the same time is so much tempo, and this card us surprisingly flexible. You can use it as a pump spell to get through combat, or just pay X=0 since the tax is tied to the power of your creatures. Just today I used this, targeting my Djinn, for X=0 like "pay 12 more, friend" to their my opponent's meager attempt to play Farewell. Elusive Otter - Also in my Simic Slime deck, this little guy is a surprising threat. For the moment, in my deck, he's just a guy to play early, but I think there's a simic spellslinger deck that could be built with this guy as the star creature. The combination of prowess and evasion is nasty.
I’ve been playin a wet-Abzan Tyvar Stickfingers list. Skrelv, Melira, Glissa, Urborg Lhurgiyf, Ancient one, Souls of the lost, Somnophage… it’s A LOT of fun!
This is SUCH a good list, Dev. I've been singing the praises of See Double and Cosmic Rebirth for a while, and Tamiyo is one of my favorite cards ever. Hopefully people will see this list and craft together new decklists with these cards (so I can steal them)!
Hi Dev! long time viewer; I think this video + your last video (and MkM standard tourney) is convincing me to buy my first paper standard deck! if you're willing to answer, what is the best way I can assure the deck I build will be fun and competitive, should I wait till after rotation? I already have a ton of LCI plus 100's of cards from the other 2023 sets, and my Arena dinosaurs deck feels super hard to win with BO1 despite all my testing. Thank you ♥️
My buddy is new to magic and Tarrians Journal, in my opinion, is the card that actually opened his eyes to magic. He always played really straightforward decks, but after discovering this card, it was like he suddenly discovered that you can play Magic in about 100000 different ways. Mad him a way better player.
Thank you for the shoutout! It made my day. As I'm sure you've surmised, I love your videos (Even the cube overview ones - actually, I really like those) . Thank you for doing what you do!
There were only 509 players in that $75k tournament. it was actually pretty depressing. 70 of those players signed up within 4 hours of the event cut off.
I am the sicko with multiple Alchemists Gambit decks.... pst use it with Chandra, Hope's Beacon and/or Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant to copy it when you cast it and you get 2 turns. I usually can stack 4-5 turns with a few other tricks.
Coveted falcon adds redundancy to fateful handoff in the archfiend of the dross donate deck.... Render inert and glissa remove the counters for anyone wondering and the falcon and handoff give it to your opponent which during their upkeep the trigger will look for a counter but since you've removed them prior to donating it they lose the game on the spot
Capricious Hellraiser and Tamiyo are really good shouts, those cards saw basically zero play since they were printed and are certified bangers. That said, I actually DO think Standard is solved by the UB Gix deck that's running around lately.
