A few bits of this video look kind of glitch, and I'm sorry about that. I think my editing software glitched while rendering, since prior to that almost everything looked alright. Anything I did to try to fix the issues made them look worse, so after a day or two of trying to fix this, I gave up and just uploaded the video. This will not happen again. I've learned my lesson about trying to do ultra fancy copyright protective editing.

The removal of the gasoline scene from “Just One Bite” fucked with me so bad as a kid. I only saw the scene intact on tv once and then never again in subsequent viewings. I’d talk to my brother about the scene and he never had any idea what I was talking about. I started to think I was crazy remembering the bucket of gas with the metal claw dropping the match. Ironic that the removal of the scene was to prevent psychological duress in kids, but the removal itself caused that very thing in me.

SpongeBob works so well because it takes the "adult cartoon" formula, sanitizes and doctors it for kids, and ends up with a unique formula that works for all ages. Most of us can relate to either SpongeBob or Squidward on some level.

15:22 I have a feeling this actually has to do with the psychological effects of 9/11. I was five when the attacks happened and although I was thousands of miles from them and barely knew what happened, it was still a very traumatizing event that I, like many Americans who were very young during that time, was deeply psychologically effected by. It's very likely that due to how soon after 9/11 the episode aired, the images of the explosion were reminiscent enough to the highly televised attacks that the show's very young audience reacted with fear and aversion upon seeing it. Everything was highly sensitive for a few subsequent years because of the attacks, with everyone constantly on edge and the entire country going through a sort of collective PTSD, so it makes sense that the scene would be pulled in order to spare children any more distress than they were already experiencing in a very strange, very scary post-9/11 world.

I think the reason they took out the gas scene from Just one Bite because unlike the fire scene in Procrastination, Squidward was badly hurt, and the fire had more of an explosion-like feeling. I think it's sad they don't allow kids to see many scenes anymore for unsubstantiated fears it could negatively effect kids. Kids are resilient, I watched many of these when they came out and I turned out fine and the kids locked in my basement all agree with me

"lewd" is in the eyes of the beholder, I suppose. But all Patrick did was rub her shoulders with a happily dumb look on his face. Also, in regards to Sandy herself---she almost ALWAYS had a bikini on when not in her divesuit. You could argue that's it's rare for her to be outside the treedome without her divesuit, but that's neither here nor there. And her face---there's plenty of less expressive animation in cartoons. Could have been an oversight, could've just been less vital for Sandy to really do anything in those few seconds. Who knows? Also, maybe SpongeBob's nose calisthenics were too phallic? [shrug] Once again, eye of the beholder, perspective, yadda, yadda... And how vague was the situation with the granny and Gary, and the "fate" of the previous snails? She was fattening Gary up, and the old picture of the snails cartoonishly(real word? 🤷‍♂️) tell him to run.

Fun Fact: in one episode, Spongebob in Randomland, there was a scene that was deleted after a while. Originally, Spongebob and Squidward find a wall of doors. After opening one door, a picture of Squidward's bedroom appears until, suddenly, a picture of a creepy Squidward with bloodshot eyes flashes on the screen; this was a reference to that creepypasta. However, this was edited to instead show a weird picture of a baby Squidward. I'm not lying, this totally happened.
