I like XLII more because of the whole David vs. Goliath context. This year's was great too, but many people had the game going either way - in 2007 everyone was so sure the Pats would win. The helmet catch and Eli's escape to deliver that throw is one of the most dramatic plays in sports.

In my opinion, Super Bowl 42 is the best. Just given the circumstances and the insane finals plays. Although Super Bowl 51 is second.

I'm still going with Super Bowl 42. The Giants' defense was incredible that game. The Patriots defense was good as well. But what set it apart from others was the context. People gave the Giants NO CHANCE to win this game. And unlike Super Bowl 3, it was actually an intense game. And that catch by David Tyree was, by far, the greatest catch in, not just Super Bowl history, but in football history. The upset was flat out impossible. The Patriots had a perfect season, for crying out loud. And here came this team out of nowhere, who was an underdog against Tampa Bay, Dallas, AND Green Bay, and beat them in one of the most intense games ever played. As great as Super Bowl 13 and 51 were, the context behind this game, the defense, and that unbelievable helmet catch, make this the greatest Super Bowl of all time, in my opinion.

XLIX: (Patriots vs. Seahawks) An emerging dynasty took on a seemingly fading one and when it was over, ended up giving quiet interviews with dazed looks all around. 4. XLII: (Giants vs. Patriots) Proving once and for all that it truly is better to be lucky than good. 5. LI: (Patriots vs. Falcons) There were significant stretches in this game that were as exciting as watching paint dry, but when things did happen, they were big, bold, and beautiful. A bunch of those things were actually, literally unbelievable, too. Honorable mention in no particular order: III: (Jets vs. Colts) The action itself wasn't that exciting, especially through today's offensive-minded glasses, but don't discount how important this game was in world of sport, let alone football. And no, Joe Namath does not belong in the Hall of Fame. XLIII: (Steelers vs. Cardinals) See #5 above, but with less legacy at stake. XXIII: (49ers vs. Bengals) Tim Krumrie never got to see John Candy.

I'm sorry but 51 is not the greatest SB of all time, it wasn't great start to finish like 43 and 49 were, 51 had 3 one sided quarters, I'll give you that 51 had the best 4th quarter and finish of all time, but as looking at the Superbowl at its entirety it wasn't even close to 43 and 49, 43 and 49 are still probably the 2 best Superbowls of all time, I think a lot of people in the comment section will agree with me...

I think the Super Bowl between the 49ers & Ravens was pretty epic especially with the blackout and the 49ers almost being the first and only team to go undefeated in 6 Super Bowls. Ravens 2-0 in Superbowls is another story. Then there's also The Harbaugh brothers going against each other & of course Ray Lewis retiring with two super bowl rings. I also think Cowboys vs Bills 91 was a good one as well. Another one that I thoroughly enjoyed was Packers vs Broncos. Some truly spectacular great moments in that game. Packers vs Steelers was also a good one & Patriots vs Rams will always be a classic because that Super Bowl started a dynasty for the new era. As much as I hate seeing the Patriots in Superbowls, I have to admit they've had some pretty great ones. The only Patriots Superbowls I thought sucked were against Chicago & Philadelphia but every other one the Patriots have been in have lived up to the hype. I wouldn't go as far as to say the latest is the greatest but it's in the current discussion. I still love the first Patriots Super Bowl against the Giants and though it still is the most heartbreaking Super Bowl to watch in the final seconds, I still haven't seen a more physical Super Bowl then Patriots vs Panthers. I'm a diehard Panthers fan & that game had it all. It started off slow but that was because both defenses were playing tremendous football but once both teams started scoring it was deep bombs back & forth but John Kasay. That guy will have to live with that botched kick for the rest of his life. That game was ours. I still remember watching that game like it was yesterday. I'll never forget it ever.

I'm a Giants fan so yeah there's a little bit of bias but I think 42 was the best super bowl of all time. I just think this game was the closest the NFL will ever get to a David vs Goliath matchup. Anyone else see that the pats won their last two super bowls because their opponents didn't run the ball? After Julio Jones made the toe tap catch they should have run it 3 times then kicked a field goal. Instead, Ryan gets sacked and there is a 10 yard holding penalty putting the falcons out of FG range, forcing them to punt. If they kicked a field goal the score would have been 31-20. If that happened then the pats would have little to no chance to pull off the comeback.

Super Bowl LI is the most overrated Super Bowl. I wouldn't put it in the Top 10. It was a blow out for one team in the first half, then a blow out for the other team in the second half. Nobody likes blow outs.
