This show is one of the very few where, when the writers had big choices to make... they always made the RIGHT one! Not sure about the 4th season though tbh. While I would've loved more, I really like where the story ended.

Best decision: keep Iroh the best character ever made and conserve the amazing bond between him and Zuko. Worst decision: trade a possibly amazing season 4 for the abominable live-action movie. Seriously, what the creators were thinking when they came up with that idea?

Hands down my favourite show when growing up. It had more depth to its story than many adult shows. I wonder if at the age I am now (29) it would still be watchable. Might revisit one day and find out.

A love triangle would be so lame, I mean look at Legend of Korra. Romance in this show is so under-cooked, that's why it was a shocker that the last scene is Aang and Katara kissing.

Zuko's character arc was one of the best character arcs I've ever seen.

I could never be sold on Zutara. I personally think they feed negative qualities into each other and could never see Katara living and ruling happily in the fire nation, which she would have to do. Mai was born into that life and could do it for someone she loves, I feel like it would be torture to make Katara live in a nation that not only contributed to her mothers death but also so much pain and suffering. I don’t think Katara thinks all fire nation is bad I just think it would be hard having to sit in that throne room knowing what was planned there.

The arranged marriage thing could have been interesting. He could have ultimately rejected her or fled, leading to his imprisonment and adding to her rejection from her mother and being another element to her breakdown.

Katara was lowkey attracted to all the dudes they met tho so no surprise she was potentially attracted to zuko

Fun Fact: The Blue Spirit was written to be Book One's finale. Nickelodeon originally only ordered 13 episodes for the first season and the creators were unsure if the show was going to get renewed for more episodes.

Something that was briefly touched on if you listen ciosely is that Katara was not named Katara in the unaired Pilot. Instead she would be named Kya, which was changed because there's a video game character by that name, the name was also recycled as both Katara's mother and her daughter's names. Before they settled on Katara, they proposed Kanna, which became the name of Gran-Gran. In short; every woman in Katara's family that we see on screen, outside of her grandaughters, has a name originally intended for her.

I still love the original! So well done. Looked at the netflix live action, it was nice, but it felt rushed. The narration using iroh was welcomed, it added depth and feeling to the episode. I look forward to the next seasons, a solid 7.5 for me.

It wldve been interesting to see Iroh betrayed zuko since if you looked at book 1 Iroh doesn't do anything to help zuko or try to capture aang since he's dragon of the west. Think about it why didn't he try to get aang let alone lie to zuko about aappa just fly by the ship when he cldve told him the truth about it? Or him just being silly while zuko almost got aang? That is a little suspicious if they go with Iroh betrayed zuko maybe it wld explain why he made zuko fail again on purpose on book 1 and 2 and purposely lost the avatar. That'll be an interesting plot twist. But I get they changed it since zuko s redemption arc wldve been a whimper than a bang.

It's very hard for me to see Iroh betraying Zuko. After all that they went through and what we ended up with was brilliant, I tell you, brilliant! Having Zuko side with his sister at the end of Book 2 was way better, then Zuko having mixed feeling afterwards. Because even in Book 3, we saw the struggle Zuko had to endure within himself. Also, I am very thankful that we didn't get killjoy serious Sokka that ended up being in the M Night movie version. Imagine where we would be if we didn't have Jack De Sena's voice telling us to "Drink Cactus Juice!"

9:46 #2 I've heard this before. I think this original plan got as far as the 2-part premiere. If you really look at Iroh in those first 2 episodes, he doesn't actually do anything nice. He's skeptical, laid back, even lazy in a comical way. And at the end of the 2-parter, he even joins Zuko in shooting a fireball at the Gaang- the ONLY violent act he does against the Gaang in the entire series. It's with the third episode that the creative team re-established Zuko and Iroh in the crucial, phenomenal roles they would play for the rest of the series.

have fond memories of this series being my child equivalent to one piece(actually love to see aang & luffy meet/hunter x hunter's gon also gave me vibes.) & jeff smith's bone comics/wish we saw the gaang properly in nicktoons unite though did love their nasb 2 interactions. do like the ship names zutara(ship itself wise never really saw it/bit weird when thinking about areas of it.) & kaang and like they had a bit of fun with it in that originally online short. like how shadow's compared to vegeta(though nowadays get more iori from kof as i could hear shadow's sa2 voice from him.) back then compared zuko to jin kazama(former definitely had a better handled redemption even if both their father's/grandfathers are horrible.)/azula being a precursor to juri just more mentally sadistic making the spider chesire look sane by comparison especially in 6.(also find funny azula in jp had the same voice as little witch academia's sucy/king of fighter's 'angel/flc's haruko especially with the latter and cowboy bebop being one of the inspirations.) love toph's actor in ember island players being a rather funny nod to that. glad iroh didn't betray zuko as that reunion still gets me in the heart.(especially iroh's loving loyalty to his nephew even after what happened to him reminding me of my uncle who cared for me just as much as my father.:3) that seriously sucked a season 4 didn't happen from that horrible live action movie(kinda the opposite of db evolution waking toriyama from retirement to revive dragonball with battle of gods to make up for how bad it was.) as while i find the comics alright would've preferred it animated as i always thought there should've been a season of "air" & am glad the creators are going to continue it in their own way.

I’m so glad they didn’t do the Iroh betrayal because I love his and Zukos bond ❤️ it’s probably one of the best relationships on the show and if he did betray him Zuko wouldn’t have anybody in his family that really cared about him apart from his Mum but I don’t know if she lived or not.
