I’m a big Al fan but I believe Joe had the best performance of the main three. Al and Bob did great in their roles but I think Joe takes the cake here. Instead of playing the young, hotheaded shooter, he plays as an old, respected, decision making, and feared leader. Which Joe nails it out the park, making his best performance ever, in my opinion. This film truly belongs to Joe Pesci.
@ForceMaximus84
@ForceMaximus84 4 года назад
TheVideomaker2341 Agreed. Joe showed a level of calm and reserve that I never saw before. That, ironically, made it more compelling and unnerving than I expected. I still think his defining performance is in GoodFellas, though.

@@swandaniel596 I think Joe was the best, but Pacino wowed me throughout for sure. The death of Kennedy and "They wouldn't dare" are two of the strongest parts of the movie - Especially "They wouldn't dare" - it's SO complex, so richly delivered, he believes it and yet knows they would. There are very few actors who could show up to work and sell that line so completely.

Its true some blood found in the house wasn’t Hoffas, however that was fresh blood. They found 2 samples of blood and only 1 contained DNA. The other sample was too old to determine. Another cool fact was that Sheeran stated they took Hoffas body out a back door in the kitchen which no longer exists. The Older set of Blood was a blood trail leading to the 1975 location of the back door consistent with Sheerans account of them dragging his body out the back of the kitchen so nobody would see.

Or it was about as realistic as the helicopter gunship in Godfather III. (1. The mob tries to be as inconspicuous as possible. Using a helicopter gunship wouldn't exactly be low key. 2. No mob boss would try taking out the entire commission. Do you know what would happen to that boss if a few bosses survived? He would be the most hunted man on earth. Even guys in his own family would be eager to turn on him (1) to collect the money from the contract on him and/or (2) to take over his family themselves. And that mob boss would be tortured in the worst ways you could imagine before being killed.)

Idk why but I feel like the movie isn’t supposed to be completely accurate, it was intended to be this way since it’s based on the sayings of a person. Kind of like about what he saw and felt not what actually happened.

Bufalino asks Frank how he learned how to speak Italian so fluently & he responds that it was from his combat in Italy which is absurd, like you would have the time, while fighting, to fraternize with the locals so as to become fluent in the language. Did not happen. Also ridiculous how Russel looks at Sheeran's truck engine and without taking anything apart, totally diagnosis the problem with it.

They only engage in the language for the brief moment on screen. The truck problem was apparent without taking the engine apart. Come on, you're nitpicking here.

Still more factual than Goodfellas. Goodfellas is most entertaining mob movie made, but Hill wasn't actually involved in most events portrayed in movie (killing of Batts, prior knowledge of Lufthansa Heist. Also, Hill ratted on everyone after getting caught in Boston College scandal).
@EvilTim1911
@EvilTim1911 4 года назад
What are you talking about? Henry Hill was there when the murder of Billy Batts took place. It happened in a restaurant that he owned and he did help Jimmy and Tommy get rid of the body, like in the movie. Also, Henry Hill played a key role in the Lufthansa heist, because he was actually the one who got the information about the money stored at the airport. If anything, Goodfellas is more true to life than The Irishman, though both films certainly take some artistic liberties.

@@EvilTim1911 Obviously you're just bullshitting bc none of that happened according to former mobsters, FBI, and witnesses. There's court documents stating Tommy shot Batts at his Uncle's bar. Its bc Tommy's uncle owed Batts money and wasn't paying him. So, Batts called Tommy from the bar and called Tommy a "rat" (Tommy's brother was in witness protection for snitching out mobsters in L.A). Tommy went to bar, alone, and shot and killed Batts. John Gotti, a close friend of Batts, had Tommy killed at a fake mafia making ceremony bc of Batts murder. It's in court records and even a low budget mob movie called "Sinatra Club" re-enacts whole Tommy/Batts beef

As for Sheeran falsely claiming he shot Joe Gallo, Gallo's bodyguard, Peter "Pete the Greek" Diapoulos, wrote a book about his experiences titled The Sixth Family. He was the guy shown leaving the club with Gallo when he insulted Bufalino. I read a passage where he described Gallo running into Bufalino in that club on the night Gallo died and it happened like it was shown in the movie. If anyone would like to verify what I'm saying, you can find a copy of the book on Amazon or eBay.

@meatwad1
@meatwad1 10 месяцев назад
@@nomnom9992 I wrote my original comment 3 years ago. I've since heard some of the arguments for why some people think Sheerhan was lying and I'm more skeptical of Sheerhan than when I wrote the original comment. The argument I find convincing is that Sheerhan knew his days were numbered. He didn't have any money to leave his children so he made up stories to sell as many books as possible so his daughters could get some money from it. But I did read that book by Pete The Greek describing Joe Gallo having a run-in with Bufalino the night he was killed, so I really did think Sheerhan shot Gallo. Pete The Greek published that book in 1976--at least 25 years before Sheerhan's book came out, so it seemed to corraborate what Sheerhan said. But I now believe Sheerhan had nothing to do with the Gallo shooting. I believe what Michael Franzese said--that it was someone in the Colombo family. I believe the identity of the guy is widely known. I read about it online a few months ago but I don't recall the name of the guy who allegedly did it.

To whack HIM meant nobody could ever know -- sonthey just made him disappear, literally. The movie moves at a much slower tempo then other Scorsase films. This, I think, is due to the maturity of the filmmaker, but also because of of the historical claims the author makes and the directors portray. The movie is very subtle. But, it appears to resolve a number of mysteries, which I think are true, if you compare the narrative against other primary resources.
