Have been going to Seaside for decades. Bumper Cars and Pronto Pups... FTW. Factory Outlets fun. Pig'N Pancake for breakfast. Doogers for Dinner. Elephant ears and salt water taffy. Arcade is fun. 4 seater bike rentals fun. Good times. 👍
Absolutely true! All the above are great things to do and a guaranteed memory at the beach! Thanks for the comment, and reminding me of some things I need to do! 🌊
I fully appreciate why Seaside no longer has a wharf out into the ocean, but it would be fun for tourists and fishermen, alike. They had one 110 years ago and a storm severely damaged it a year later. It was quickly rebuilt and soon damaged beyond repair. The effort was then abandoned.
Oregonians Unite!! I love Seaside, and yes they still have the elephant ears right down on the corner of broadway still cranking out greasy delicious fried bread ;)
Great video Jackson. Thank you for NOT including Surrey rentals in your top 10! I am surprised; however, that Dough Dough and the Stand were absent from this list? A visit to Seaside is not complete without eating at both :)
I swear I have seen you doing the silver person thing, I go to seaside when I go to my dads and I just need to know if you were there in like July 2018?
Funny thing… I was the NW Tin man from 2011-2015, I stopped doing it because 2 other tin man started hanging around and they just stood still, no dancing, no entertaining and kinda cramped my style. in all seriousness it takes a lot of work to just stand still so good on them. There is a chance you may see a dancing Tin man around this summer 😜
Haha - I was the original Seaside Tin Man (or NW Tin man) for about 4/5 summers, then like 2 or 3 imposters came in and overran the town… it was such a fun gig. Sorry I scared you!
Should have included Pokemon Go in Seaside as something to do! For 🎮 gamers the Prom is best place to go because it has innumerable Poke Stops, Gyms and thousands of Pokemon to catch from so many habitats. They're even on the dunes! How is the ⛱️ beach ranked below crabs?? 😂🤪And you didn't mention there are bathrooms at the Cove on the Southern end of the beach! 😉 Not bad though for Top 10.
haha - I've never played but it sounds like a great place to play! haha, well I love crabbing, but I didn't mention the cove... as I'm not trying to highlight the cove ;)
Good video. I also grew up in Seaside. It made me a little homesick. I have a little lesser known trivia about Fascination. I worked at Funland for 7 years starting in the early 90's. I got to talk to the original owner. He was from the east coast where the first Fascination was founded. He told me that it was at the time a front for the mafia. A cash only business made an easy money laundering scheme. The stuff they had for prizes would show up in the middle of the night, delivered by people you didn't ask many questions of. It was anything from cartons of cigarettes to Italian suits. Stuff that "fell off some truck" he would say.
Thankyou, it was a great place to grow up! and woah, I'm wondering how much truth there is to that... I can totally see it. Why did the prizes matter though? Is the thought that the prizes were stolen? haha
Serbia! My friend, thank you so much for commenting on my video, I really appreciate it. Cities near the sea are amazing, I'm very lucky to have been raised here :)
Great video! I've been to Seaside multiple times over the years, and it's our favorite stop on the Oregon Coast. I see that I've only done a fraction of the things recommended.
@@JacksonMeyer I just did a search and it must be this Seaside Candyman located in Heritage Square on Columbia. Used to be if you entered through the back parking lot, they'd play "Candy Man" over the loud speaker over... and over... and over again & again. I thought they were in the Carousel mall, but maybe they relocated. Anyway, they have that song on their website.
Woooowwwww, hot take. It’s tourist prices that’s for sure, but I’ve always thought it was reasonable and the beer has been good to me. I also love the environment, you can’t find that anywhere else in Seaside.
Haha, okay. Well, the reason why is because this is a top 10, and I don’t believe that the few hikes Seaside has are in the top 10. There really are two: hike Tillamook head… starts at the end of the road up from the cove and spits you out at Indian. And the next hike is a trail my dad built up at Seaside High School it’s a 2.5k loop and is really really cool. Have fun!
You are so welcome! Oh my goodness, I am so excited for you, there are so many fun things to do in my neck of the woods, have an amazing trip, and let me know if you have any questions ;)
That’s awesome to hear! Man it has been a while since I hiked Tillamook head, I need a plan a hike from Seaside to Indian beach soon. Thanks for watching 🤘
Haha - it’s still there… and has always been there and I think will ALWAYS be there!! 🤣🤣 they are resilient, but in my opinion, certainly not cracking the top 10 ✌️
@@JacksonMeyer …. Yeah, used to be Seaside Family Fun Park. Old people owned it, couldn’t maintain it. I think it digressed down to just go carts. New owners. They have fixed up. Looks nice and new rides. 1950-60’s kiddy rides refurbished. New owner bought the 100 acres behind and is planning on putting in a little train ride through it …. I watch their progress every time I visit Seaside! Have a fun day and I enjoyed your video !
There is a saying that the two best days of a boat owner's life are the day he buys the boat and the day he sells the boat. It seems so exciting and glamorous at first, but, unless you're EXTREMELY wealthy, they often involve a shocking number of hidden costs and maintenance headaches.
Haha 😂 I’ve heard that, yet still want to experience that freedom… but mostly to catch fish/crabs/shrimp, idk. Maybe someday! If you follow my channel you will see the day I do it ;)
Hey Andrew, thanks for subscribing and stopping by, I really really appreciate it, #559 😜. When I hit a million that’s gonna cool haha. So that bumper car place can have wacky hours, during the off season most places in seaside close Tuesday or Wednesday or whatever, in August I doubt they are closed any day. But everyone was facing labor shortages 🤷🏼♂️ but yes. i was there just 2 weeks ago
I go to Oregon all the time! I recommend visiting Seaside Oregon sometime! It’s very pretty, with a big sandy beach and the town there is amazing! There’s even an ice cream shop, and tons of other shops too! I also recommend going to Canon beach it’s very beautiful, I love it there. Here’s something I copied from Google about it lol Cannon Beach is a small coastal city in northwest Oregon. It’s known for its long, sandy shore. Standing tall in the ocean, Haystack Rock is a seasonal haven for tufted puffins. On a headland to the north, trails in Ecola State Park offer sweeping views of the ocean, coves and a lighthouse. South is Arcadia Beach, with tide pools and a picnic area. Nearby Hug Point has sea caves. Boutiques and galleries dot downtown.
Most definitely coming back here again what a pleasant experience I had. Every single person was super friendly awesome city, town. I did the high life adventure park course and I was dead after. There is this one shop called surf shop and they let me rent out a longboard for the whole day I cruised around the whole city awesome views!!!
Ayyyy that’s what I like to hear! Thanks for the comment and I hope this guide was a little useful to you, did you get down to Cannon Beach at all? Feel free to subscribe for more travel content 😜 Never know when our paths may cross again! 🤙🏽
@@JacksonMeyer I did I jogged the whole beach all the way down to the huge rock by the condos on the beach. I was only here for 2 days definitely coming back soon!!! Thank you for the guide not all hero’s wear capes hope u stay blessed brother!!
@@jonathangarcia2546 very nice, well done! My cannon Beach Top 10 video is my favorite video I’ve made, just such a dynamic Oregon coast town. Stoked to have grown up here. You too
Send me an email @jackson.meyer7@gmail.com requesting my top 10 eateries :) I’ll share them with you. The video won’t be out for a few months. I am headed to Europe in 2 days for filming a ton of content and summers get busy! Have fun in Seaside, and thank you very much for the comment!
Haha - well I’d look it up, but I think the median home price is like 400k? If you actually have 5mil, I would look at just traveling for the rest of your life and maybe have a modest home base in bend or something
Hello hello so this is me hello and we will wake you hello hello and yes it's really really really funny so I decided that we can talk together with our RU-vid channel let's go go that's it goodbye goodbye 🥺🥺🌎😭🍟🌎🍇💎🌱💚💚💚🤣😜😍🥳😙 I'm Emma
Great question! It’s renowned for sand dollars, Dungeness crab shells and razor clam shells, but now much else as far as small snail shells and others. I would go north on the seaside-side of the beach where the Necanicum river dumps into the ocean. Should be some good shells there.
This video was so helpful before our trip to Seaside. Really appreciate the thoughtfully prepared, short top-10 videos for each destination. Thank you!
I'm glad you enjoyed it and the format! I have similar videos of Astoria, Cannon Beach, the entire Oregon Coast, Maui, and have a lot more in the works, hope you check them out ;)
This is a fantastic video Jackson. I’m planning a visit to Seaside from Manitoba Canada next year. I’ve stayed in Florence in 1992 so am looking forward to getting back to the Oregon Coast.
Thankyou so much for the kind comment, and I hope you have an amazing trip! The Oregon Coast is certainly something special and I am very proud to call it my home :) I'm guessing it will be slightly different from 1992... still the same great beaches, rock stacks and the cold Pacific Ocean
My home town also. That “Adventure Park” is such an eyesore! “Concrete boardwalk” is a contradiction in terms. Seaside once had a boardwalk, and the Prom isn’t it.
ayyyyyyy awesome! And very true, I guess 'boardwalk' is what I've alwasy used to describe the Prom, instead of... 'concrete-walk' haha. It would have been cool to see the actual boardwalk back in the day.
Hey there! The whole town is walkable - so no worries there, the most authentic Mexican food is The Stand, it’s open 12-5 weekdays only and is sort of a local joint. Best seafood in town in Doogers, it’s fresh and amazing, go get gelato at sea star, breakfast at osprey cafe on the south end of town (that is a little bud if a walk, but walk the prom and get there early). And absolutely go to dodos bakery and seaside coffee. 👍🏼
Hey 👋🏼 thank you so much, I’m just starting to learn the ropes on YT - but I am willing to be patient to evolve into a fun/exciting travel creator! When people like you subscribe and comment it really makes the whole process a lot more fun, so THANKYOU! My top 10 Cannon beach video drops Thursday at 6pm… Editing now 🤙🏼
What i actually found awesome was that your number 1 was also my favorite, i LOVE razor clam digging with my brother, but the thing is is that we don't use proper tools and we don't have a license, we use a shovel and i dig with my hands, i grab out the clam and me and my brother we would feed them to the seagulls
I actually dislike eating sea animals 😅 my family has joked around about eating them though, i said no cause i love clams too much, even though we feed them to the seagulls 😂
I'm surprised you didn't mention playing putt-putt or throwing darts - how about a game of scrabble out on the beach or finding a good book at the Library! This place looks dull as a butter knife. Sorry mate.
If playing scrabble or going to a library to read is in your Top 10 things to do when visiting somewhere... respectively, we are cut from two very different cloths, sorry mate. I do appreciate you checking out my channel though, happy travels. 👍
@@JacksonMeyer Just would've thought you might mention it's a stone's throw from Ecola or Cannon Beach is all. Isnt there a Lewis and Clark monument as well?
again, I am eloping in Seaside this August, and this video really gave me many ideas of places I can go and explore in town and get some fun time and shots! Thank you so much!!!
You are so welcome! Glad the video was useful to you & Im happy you are coming here on Elopement! Have so much fun and remember to get gelato from sea star if it’s hot, do the arcade and win AT LEAST ONCE at fascination blackout, and have a bonfire on the beach near the turnaround… memories to be made!
We don't know where you are haha, but YES, COME TO SEASIDE! We love our tourism economy and hope this video helps you all find your way in my hometown!
You are so welcome! I'm glad you found it useful and you have a great time in Seaside. I have a lot more Oregon content coming soon but I also have other videos about Cannon Beach, Astoria & The whole Oregon Coast!
Thanks Austin, I really appreciate it! I don't have one planned at the moment, would camp if you can, it gets super busy no matter what you choose to do, airbnb, hotel, motel etc... ;) I'm doing an Oregon coast camping trip out of my Prius next month ;)
@@kevindaly4480 nothing, the only thing close was that I got a discount to experience high life adventure. That being said, This was one of my first real videos and I didn’t know what I was doing (still don’t 🤣) but it’s just my honest opinion of how to best experience my hometown. Thanks for the kind question and not assuming I’m bought and paid for! I’ve made some money from Ads on RU-vid, but no kickbacks
I really appreciate Jay! And thank you for subscribing man 🤙🏼 I’m stoked I finally got around to making this viddy about my home, and glad to see people are liking it
@@JacksonMeyer it’s legit man. Me and my crew are literally en route right now. Babe hasnt been before and I haven’t experienced some of the stuff you showed us so it’s definitely a good time
@@JacksonMeyerhad a great time. Got a room at seashore inn. Right on beach. Had the best clam chowder I’ve ever eaten in my life at seaside brewery. Went to the mall, and inverted experience, arcade. This video definitely helped us. Appreciate it. Will be going back again For sure.
Ayyyyy - subscribe for more hometown content! I’m actually here right now and planning my next video: “24 hours in Seaside, how to do the perfect beach day”
Dough doughs is closed Tuesday - Thursday… but that can kinda change based on summer season and other factors. Right across the stree seaside coffee is really really good as well. In cannon beach, definitely go to sea level bakery - SO GOOD.
I’ve never seen horses in the beach in seaside, I’ve seen private horses (not for rent) more up in warrenton & Gearhart occasionally, but there are horse rides in Cannon Beach, I made a top 10 video for cannon beach, but horse rides didn’t make the cut.
Great video! I was only in Seaside once and it was during the winter so all that shit was closed unfortunately and I always says to myself I need to come back at a better time of the year.
