The Series S is one of the most underrated consoles in a very long time. I bought it on sale from Microsoft last Christmas for $239.99 What an epic buy.
The S is an incredible piece of engineering. For some of the games I like, which require grinding, the S is an obvious choice for it's energy efficiency. I have an X as well, which I bought 2 years ago, before the energy crisis really kicked in. I feel more relaxed playing on S for a few hours than X, at the moment.
I own 3 Series S consoles to game with my boys which I found used under $200 each. Best decision ever but sucks that many developers aren’t trying to optimize many games for this little beast of a console
It makes a great travel console for when you go on vacation. Most likely the hotel's tv will not be a nice 4k TV. It small size and adequate performance makes it a gamer's travel companion.
We? Who is we? The holding the series X is a lie by devs that dont want to put ray tracing on the series S version that actually can have it. The games are the same stuff. Devs never hold back cause of a console. Thats a myth people use to excuse that they like a shitty game
One X games look better due to it's powerful GPU, but lesser powerful CPU. Developers are WE, they said it's easier to make games for the One X based on higher resolutions etc. Than to make games for the Series S underpowered one. Fact. 4.6 more compute units.
Good console, but since this video was made DRAWBACKS- With newer games not only does it have trouble running them optimally. But it also crashes a lot more due to the heat, and these things do NOT run cool. It's quiet yes, but touch the black fan area. You could fry an egg on it, just under normal load. Let alone struggling with games like Alan Wake II which crashes more than anything. Along with Immortals Of Aveum, Dragons Dogma II which is horrid on it anyway. And you can't play Buldars Gate 3 for any longer than 40 min. without it shutting down and restarting. Also even on a 1440p/1080p monitor there are games running as low as 540p in some cases, worse than One S, that's just unacceptable for CURRENT GEN, FSR or not. So I do like it, but I'd never own another. It was literally to HOT, and blurry for my blood. I chose the Series X, which is good, but they still need more titles. PS5 is the place to game, even though I use my Steam Deck the most. It's a TRUE marvel in the gaming world.
One X from Ebay for like $200 or just slightly more. The graphics are closer to the Series X, if not for the One X the Series X wouldn't exist. Many in 4K, or close and they run very stable I might add. Some at 60fps. As he said the Series S runs games with Xbox One code, no upgrades or anything. Maybe a 60fps bump, but it also kills the resolution and makes it even lower than the Xbox One OG. Truly. And new games? Get a PS5!! There aren't even that MANY this current gen, but a PS5 will have both 3rd party and exclusive titles. SO you can't lose dude. Later.
