I still go back to this movie every once in a while in the course ofmy life. It has become my mantra. I love the kind of love that is in this. And i want to be reminded of that love each time.❤❤❤
And if you read the book, Ally died and Noah DID NOT. There's a sequel called The Wedding and is about one of their kid's marriages... And also Noah thinks Ally came back to him as a swan.
I have said this to family members. Like, we could never get a true "sequel" to this because James Garner passed away. It would be wrong to replace him. :( I'm glad I'm not the only one who knew this one!! Lol

One of my favourite movies The only things I knew were 1. Based off a Nicholas Sparks film. 2. Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling despised one another. Wow they are so good though. 3. The film is about dementia. 4. Ryan Gosling had to wear brown contacts in order to look like James Garner. 5. The director of this film has his own mother(Gena Rowlands)in the film as old Ally.

They got Goslin to wear contacts but didn't get genetics right when choosing the actors for their children? I spent the whole film complaining about how a redhead and a blonde can't have black-haired kids, and they concentrated on Ryan Gosling's eyes????
They could have black haired kids, especially if black Irish or Scottish is in there, but not dark eyes. Two blue eyed parents can not have a brown eyed kid, even if their grandparent had dark eyes. However in the movie, Noah has brown eyes, so yes their kid could have dark eyes and hair.
I watched note book at high school when school finished the end of the year. It was too romantic for my liking😂 but I admit it was beautiful for the love birds 😍❤️😊

The amount of passion illustrated in this movie would NEVER fly in this day and age. People equate passion with crazy and very quickly keep swiping hoping for “normal”.
I agree, ryan is not that handsome but he is decent looking. He doesn’t seems to be a show off. He seems humbled. He is a good guy. That what makes him handsome!
The biggest thing that always annoyed me was the height difference between the young couple and the old couple. There was quite a height difference between the young Allie and Noah and then not much for older Noah and Allie I know it’s not a big detail but still really annoyed me.
Well, speaking from being an "old" person, you shrink. I was 5'7 and am now 5'5. I'm not hunched over. Where the hell did those 2" go?!? Another of the indignities of old age😫.
I loved this movie, and it got me attracted to Ryan Gosling. The only thing I wish is that the actors playing them in old age looked more like the younger ones, esp. Ryan, who has a baby face much different from James Garner's.
Ryan and Rachel didn't get along at all during the filming and he even wanted her off the script. The only other movie where the actors didn't get along, but the chemistry was good was in Dirty Dancing. Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey did not like each other.
I loved this movie, but always thought that ,as much as I love James Garner, I did not think the casting was right, Ryan Gosling and James Garner looked too different!!, it was distracting for me!!!
I am not sure anyone has ever looked more attractive than he does wrapped in the blanket on the upper floor of the house when she comes back at the end of the film.
There has never been a time when Ryan Gosling was not attractive and he can do more with his eyes and expressions than anyone. In Murder by Numbers the first scene where Sandra Bullock and her partner interview him and the one where she hits him with the door, the looks he gives her indicate he could seduce a brick. He was so young. Of course he says Sandra was his first real love and he has only had 3 according to him. Sandra was 37 and he was 21 and they were together for a year. None of the other women who have been linked to him have confirmed anything and neither has he. He and Eva and their girls are incredible.

Meh I'm not surprised they don't get along and the toxic fighting makes me cringe. And them dated then broke up later that didn't last long didn't surprised me they were doomed from the start.

My biggest issue with the film is the portrayal of Allyson Alzheimer's, and the very sloppy behavioral interventions . Yes, I know, suspension of disbelief. But I think more care could have been put into those scenes.
The video of the movie on Roku has places where you can definitely see his blue eyes and one is when he is asking her what she wants. There are other parts where they look blue, too.
But Ryan Gossling is really " Handsome" to me , instead!! Both with his real blue eyes , as well as with brown eye contact lens...He is just so sweet and " Hot" ! My favourite actor! I like him very much!
