Mean Girls is actually one of those chick flick movies that is actually a fantastic movie...script should have been nominated for best script at least in the golden globes.
@@carlkenny9567 but it's centered around girls and made primarily for girls to relate to, which makes it a chick flick (idk why we need to have our own separate genre though it's honestly pretty sexist)
I know, I first watched it when I was about 12, and even then I was confused as to why nobody checked the handwriting. It would have been more of a mystery had the pages been typed!😀
i would agree with you, if i hadn't seen a good portion of the girls in my high school all have the same swooping, immaculate handwriting. i was not blessed with that gift though :p thanks, left-handedness lol
Yes totally, and besides how is the principal so dumb that he doesn't understand framing or the fact the Regina was the only one who could have filled the school with copied pages!
Veronica Estrada thank you!! They said it was done the previous year. Caty wouldn’t know any of that stuff because she wasn’t there!! Except the whole thing she wrote about the teacher, it’s obvious who actually made the book.
its still possible that she wrote the latest ones because she actually contributed with it..like calling damian" to gay to function" and the girls put it in there and she also wrote mean things against ms.norburry "pusher".
@@noirelune1229 I'm pretty sure they mean people didn't notice the wig because they're white. It's a stereotype that white people can't tell what's real or fake hair
Ok. The language thing. Cady was super nervous walking around looking for a friendly face to welcome her. Seeing a table of students that looked, to her, like people she grew up with in a place where she was the minority triggered a recognition in her brain. That's like seeing someone across the street & yelling "hi!" only to realize it's not them once you've started crossing the street.
@@dovenightingale2779 It's...it's literally not racism or ignorant. Good grief. My first assumption if I saw a black person would be, they're probably from Africa or somewhere. I wouldn't assume they were Scottish, for example. Am I really having to explain this? *Sighs*
@@starb0rn it is entirely ignorant to assume all black people are all from africa and would speak specific african languages. like they stated in the video, a lot of black americans are in america because of the 100s of years of slavery and slave trades from mostly africa. not to mention how there are plenty of other countries that are native to black people outside of african countries, such as haiti, the dominican republic, and other islands in the caribbean. if you would take the time to listen to the video and read the comments you would know that it is racist and ignorant to assume these things. you have all the resources in the world to educate yourself, please do.
"Mean Girls" continues to demonstrate just how clever it is, in all the miniscule details that you overlooked the first time around. I always noticed that Ms. Norbury is somehow able to play "Jingle Bell Rock" on the piano without her fingers hitting the keys on time!😅🎹 Also, did you know that Tran Pak, one of the Cool Asians, has a brother named Tim Pak on the Mathletes team?
Also did you notice that when Mr Duvall sets off the sprinkler after all hell breaks loose in the hallways because of the burn book, all the girls get soaked, but seconds later after they IMMEDIATELY have to go to the gym, they are all neat, styled and dry again? It's magic!
You forgot the fact that at the beginning of the movie, Cady is almost hit by a bus. She managed to miss it because she hadn't been taken over by popularity. Then Regina is hit by the bus because she became over her head about her place in the school hierarchy. And then at the end, the new Plastics are almost hit by a bus but miss it.
I watched another video & they were saying that Tina Fey came up w that (fetch) to use a slang word that wasn’t real, that way when the movie came out the word wasn’t old & played out & would still be funny in the movie. I hope I explained that well enough lol
10. Gretchen Gets to Wear Hoops - 00:36 - Gretchen wears hoops at the end of the movie 9. Regina's Homeschooler Beloved Book - 1:26 - Regina despite being extremely dismissive of homeschoolers has a book frequently used by homeschoolers in her room 8. The Wrong Elephant - 2:20 - Young Cady is pictured with an Asian elephant and not an African Elephant 7. Odd Time for a Talent Show - 3:15 - The talent show was held on Thanksgiving. 6. A Flimsy Ruse - 4:01 - Regina's ploy to pin the burn book on Cady, Karen and Gretchen and make herself look like a victim was flimsy since the book is handwritten and the school could have checked everyone's handwriting 5. Shakespearean Queen Bees - 4:48 - The iconic Glen Coco scene features a classical Easter egg related to the film's plot; A Shakespearean quote from The 2 Noble Kinsmen where 3 queens asking for revenge for the deaths of their husbands. 4. Ms.Norbury is a piano virtuoso - 5:43 - Ms.Norbury plays the classic song Jingle Bell Rock by ear so she is a piano virtuoso. 3. Cady copies Regina before replacing her - 6:36 - You might not have noticed the entire plot of the movie 2. Caddy's weird racism - 7:23 - Cady attempts to speak Swahili to the unfriendly black hotties (Janis calls them that.) because she assumes they know the language. 1. Janis and Damian's map - 8:10 - The map Janis and Damian make for Cady is filled with useful information.
It wasn’t noticed by me besides it took me aback as well. I figured she was trying to be like the Plastics yet I didn’t realize that she was starting to gear towards Regina more.
She got quite nervous and often people in such a nervous state make assumptions more than logical reasoning, they cling to what's most familiar. I had a friend from Mali who was a bit lost in Spain and didn't speak Spanish and he told me he went to the first black guy he saw on the street because he felt familiarity, it's just as "racist" and illogical as what Cady did here, he had no proof that the black guy spoke French or English or Bambara (the three languages HE spoke) just by his color, for all he knew the guy was also Spanish and spoke no other language, but that was an instinctive move and it happens to everyone, labelling such behaviours as actual toxic discrimination isn't cool IMO.
I had to watch this for school to study the effects of clique culture. Cady wasn't initially a mean girl but in her attempt to fit in ended up becoming one due to the influence of the Plastics. Had she stayed with Janis and Damian she might have turned out slightly differently but still have that mean streak against the Plastics.
One time we watched Mean Girls in our AP Calc class. I told my teacher it was about limits and math. My teacher had no idea what he'd be getting into. It was AWESOME!
The handwriting one was a HUGE issue for me when I watched this film. I still love the movie but I had to learn to accept that they just ignore comparing handwriting for the sake of the plot.
That happened in my junior year of high school when a girl in my class lied to the teachers saying she didn’t write something about a senior being an orange on the count of her tang and they matched her handwriting with the note
I'm binge rewatching Party of Five atm and I've honestly never noticed that Claudia Salinger and Gretchen Wieners are both played by the same actress 😂🙈
I don’t think it was racist at all. It was an assumption that they were African and knew the language when they didn’t. They probably didn’t know what it meant.
I questioned the handwriting thing more about the candy cane. Gretchen would know Regina's handwriting perfectly. Also, Cady's Swahilian thing was judged way too harshly....and you repeatedly ask questions while her whole character was based on not knowing anything about the U.S. She saw the one thing she was familiar with and seeked a sense of normalcy. That is definitely not racist.
The part about Gretchen wearing Hoop Earrings AFTER the fallout of the Plastics has NOTHING to do with the Rules & Regulations of DURING the Plastics. She wears Hoop Earrings AFTER her life as a Plastic, so it's not really a "catch".
xAaeiynx it shows how regina controlled everything they wore, down to the jewelry, and how gretchen wore them after the fallout of the plastics. it’s just pointing out something specific that most people probably didn’t realize... how are you not making the connection
She also let her hair hang and flat at the same time she wore hoop earrings at the ending of the film. That’s why her hair was because not because it was full of secrets, she wasn’t allowed to wear her hair flat either
@@jerramaurice7836 Ohhhh yeah I never thought that about the straightened hair being part of the same rule but I think you're right, falls right in line with Regina restricting self expression to ensure she won't be upstaged. Damn (and I can see why: on both counts Gretchen wore it better😆)
I mean yeah all of that, but anybody realized the simbolism of Regina's mother's drinks? each one with its own umbrella with the colors of each Heather they represent when they took them of he tray? Regina: takes red umbrella drink Gretchen: takes green umbrella drink Karen: takes yellow umbrella drink Cady: takes blue umbrella drink
Probably no mistake on the Asian elephant since African elephants have been know for their aggression which is why you never, or at the least a strong unlikely, see someone riding an African elephant
Katey becoming more like Regina isn't just foreshadowing. In literature it is often found that the plucky protagonist trying to take down the antagonist in dystopian type futures usually becomes more like the antagonist to do so. The school isn't dystopian but Regina George is a dictator ruling viciously over the school.
About #2 uuhhh... Why the hell would she know anything about a country which she's never even been in before? Her parents didn't know they would be moving back to America, so Cady had no reason to research America's history
@@haustreviance uh in the movie, that scene was literally a JOKE contributing to the fact that Cady knew nothing about America, having just moved there, and she just wanted to fit in. WatchMojo tried to play it off as being racist, when it was an honest mistake and an attempt to fit in. Of course she didn't realize her mistake and apologize, but that doesn't mean that it was meant to be hurtful or offensive. Again, a JOKE
@@haustreviance just curious, if a sheltered child went up to a pregnant woman and asked what she ate to get so big, that it's still not a honest mistake?
Regina's room has posters of Avril Lavigne and the Strokes. Her collage has magazine cutouts of words like "Rock Star" and "Rock Diva." Regina's a fan of rock music.
I noticed the hoop earrings thing when I first watched this movie when I was like 11. Is this really something people didn’t notice? I thought it was intended to be really obvious.
The reason why Gretchen was wearing hoops after they disbanded because she was no longer Regina's servant, so the observation was kind of self-explanatory by saying that they disbanded
My grandmother could play anything by ear on the piano, but she couldn’t read notes. It’s not that crazy. Unless you’re suggesting that my grandmother was amazing because of this skill, which, she was. ❤️
Zeineb Ben Jemia Janis was drawing the map while they were skipping class to go to the “back building”. While they’re sitting in the grass, Janis asks Cady how to spell her name. In the next scene, as they’re walking to next period, Janis gives Cady the completed map.
Tbh i also didnt know that cady was the same girl from parent trap and while watching mean girls, i was like she looks so familiar but never noticed who she was
Jonathan Fitzharris You’re disgusting. We don’t put women down. Why exactly do you have a problem with her? She grew so much throughout the series and she was a good friend.
@@springlady8337 so because I dont think shes the best WOMAN out of 4 WOMAN, I'm putting women down? Samantha and Miranda are just far better characters to me. Doesnt mean I dislike Charlotte
Jonathan Fitzharris Ummmm......... You are aware that Mojo already made videos about why the other women are the best right???? I’m not saying make a video on why Charolette was the best because she is the best. They are videos highlighting all the good qualities of each one but they haven’t made Charolettes yet. I’m asking when hers is coming out.
