My biggest Tip for new commers in rise is, unlock all subcamps as early as possible! Good usage from the subcamps to teleport to the monsters will over the entire play time save you a load ton of time. This tip works independend of the buddy combination you use.
Easiest way to get dango tickets is to buy raw meat from the argosy and fire them in the motley mix (99) is the max per mix you get like 45 tickets and buying the raw meat is cheap.
I played alot of lance in world but i'm playing more multiplayer this time around. I'm just wondering, what attacks trip with ff1 in rise? Pretty sure running thrust did in world, and i think spiral thrust does? Does the charged sweep and anchor rage flinch aswell?/anything i should be aware of?
I don't think the tip about capped HR and accumulating EXP before progressing the story is true. I didn't check in Low Rank, but I played High Rank mostly with my higher level friends, joining their high-starred quests while I was capped and then, once I finished my next story quest, immediately being promoted to the next cap due to all the high level stuff I did prior. EXP definitely accumulates, at the very least in High and Master Rank, at least in my personal experience.
One tip my brother wish someone told him because he disliked monster hunter initially, having some sort of small goal, on self-improvement can really, really help you enjoy the game's grind, using the time you would be grinding for an item as extra "self practice" or time to improve or try out new ways to hunt can make it less stale in the long run. Though I guess you would have to enjoy the gameplay loop to be able to do that, but yeh.
The first thing that I would recommend doing is going into settings and changing a number of settings. First I would swap your action bar and your item bar so you don’t have to hold L1 to cycle through your item bar, you’re going to be using your item bar a lot more during combat over your action bar, so having to hold L1 is cumbersome. Second I would turn your button hold settings to fast, so you can mount your palamute more quickly by holding the respective button. I would turn player silhouette on so you can see your character model when it’s concealed behind a monster or bush. Turn radial menu to type 2 so you click R3 to consume an item instead of flicking your stick, type 1 the default will likely cause you to accidentally consume items or sharpen during a hunt which is real frustrating. If you play co-op then I would turn other player weapon effects to 25%. I would increase your field of view to make it at least wider than the default if not at max so you can see more on the screen during combat which is helpful against larger monsters like Amuldron. There’s a number of settings I would advise a new player to change. The list goes on as far as new player tips but i’ll just leave it at that
when will the guardian armor be unlocked? i have now got sunbreak for the xbox. before that i played several 100 hours on the switch and i forgot all the mh secrets hahaha
One tip I would suggest is to make sure you have your whetstone set on your radial menu. If you do that, you can sharpen without sheathing, by calling it from that menu.
Mentioning sharpness could be important too! Seeing my friends bounce off and doing like 2 damage it's always funny, but a very crucial mechanic that they usually ignore
15 hours in and I have 0 idea wtf I'm doing plus when do the fun part starts? All I see is wall of text that doesn't explain nothing!! Plus I haven't even go to hunt a freaking monster yet wtf is this trash ? This game csnt be more unfriendly to new players if they try the ui is shit the combat to I'm baffled what's so good about this?? I'm guessing that my lower tolerance to bullshit in my games but who knows!! Literally nobody on you tube explains this game from the perspective of a new player I don't even know wtf you talking about that's how lost I am
The hunter rank does in fact rise and accumulate after you beat the story ala warframe and genshin impact but other then that nice video. I have gone through the game 14 times for each wepon and during my lbg playthrough I noticed that after I beat regular narwa I went straight to camileous(or however you spell his name) indicating that I went from 8 to 20 after unlocking the cap
They added a free Rarity 7 high rank armor actually, way better than rarity 3 ones Also my upgraded defender weapon has more attack and defense then any other weapon available for crafting and even after upgrading
A bit late, but here goes lol. Item load outs! Save your general purpose hunt consumables load out so you don't have to manually dump materials and then restock items every time you finish a hunt. Radial menus! Spend some time to set them up, and then force yourself to use them during the heat of battle; it'll become muscle memory quickly so you don't have to think about button presses or take your eyes off the monster when healing.
One more: select "status" in the first menu tab, then press right stick to get a table of all your skills and levels, and where they come from, on one single screen. Very useful to check if you've over-spec'd for a skill!
Another Tip, one achievement is to ride your Palamute a lot. Like 10 h. I did that by bringing my Palamute Sir Woofs-a-Lot to hunts. Riding him to monsters and right after the hunt mount him and carve from his back, riding him until the timer's over. I needed some time, but it was an achievement I didn't actively hunt for.
That first tip about the Guardian set would've been a lifesaver when I tried World back in the day. Really bounced off of the game hard because I couldn't properly engage with the main gameplay loop. So glad I decided to give Rise a shot at release.
Defender stuff is my biggest gripe with starting MH late. I don't own a switch and I was holding for a MHW2 confirmation but I budged and got this on PC (super glad I did ) But defender stuff (like in iceborne) make it so you never change weapons or armor and just rush through a game you never played before Now I get it if this is your 5th character it's fine, but I'd argue the control on what to build when from your previous 4 experiences and the weapon experience will make early hunts go fast as hell anyway. IDK it makes me mad knowing I'm trying to figure out cool weapons that will do worse than the defender one. I hope they keep some of the movement and open map design for the next big title :D
Same for me here, got the game on Steam sale Still using defender stuff because the weapon upgraded has higher attack than any other weapon available for me (for mow) I get over 200 attack with defender weapon and 160 with Magnamalo weapon even after upgrading it (same for armors) So for now better to stick with defender stuff until unlocking better equipment or reaching sunbreak
