I’m not ashamed to say this, but a genuine British Accent commands RESPECT…!!! Your review is just awesome guys, I just had to sub. Hope you push out content regularly, because I’m a HUUUUGE FAN!!!
Stelios Constantas i hated it at first, then after I wore it a while and grew to love it. It lasts a whole day on me. None of TF other scents do. And his FF is horrible
nothing of his can beat Grey vetiver for me ,regardless of what line they're in ....its the perfect male fragrance ,absolutely timeless and reeks of class,if i had to have one fragrance for life its definitely GV
Thanks to Mr. Smelly I found these two gentlemen. I am very positive they will be trustworthy guides for my journey into niche realms. I started collecting just a year ago, but I am already turning away slowly from Designers to niches. They just give me the greater more interesting experience. There are niches where you can't believe that there is something in this world that smells that good.
new subscriber wow guys, great list I own/wear TF OMBRE LEATHER, TF EXTREME, TF BLACK ORCHID, & TF TUSCAN LEATHER so Im thrilled to watch you discuss these fragrances I appreciate your input on these favorites of mine cheers JIM from MIAMI BEACH
Finally Tuscan Leather receive the credit it deserves, it truly is the number 1 from the list my number 2 would be eau de Soleil Blanc 3. Plum Japonair 4 . Oud wood 5 . Tobacco oud 6. Vanille fatale 7. Tom Ford for men 8. Noir de noir 9. Neroli Portofino forte 10. Ombre Leather
@@CloudOmegaVII Eau de Soleil is edt, it lasts 4-6 hours but projects nicely in 2 hours. I don't like the Parfum so I never bought it unfortunately, so I can't comment on it.
Yes sirs! Review from 5 years ago is likely more honest than not. Noir de Noir Japan Noir Plum Japonais Beau de Jour Ombré Leather| Amber Absolute Very simple and elegant for me. I generally do not follow the 1980s strong OGs.Just my style. But happy to hear about more from the posh private blends.
Great list, I really enjoyed it. I just picked up samples of Tuscan Leather, Tobacco Vanille, Oud Wood and Tobacco Oud. These will be the first Private Blends I have tried. So far I only have Grey Vetiver and Black Orchid from TF (both EDP). Sent here by Chris from Frag Mental, I really enjoy the videos i’ve watched so far. Keep it up! Subbed
Hamed Awadh So far I have mixed feelings about it. I really liked it on first wearing, less so the second time. I think it’s one I will only wear occasionally as it’s very different to what I usually go for and i’d need to be in the mood to wear it. I’ve not tried Noir de Noir.
Love this Tom Ford tom foolery. I love white suede & aside from Oud Wood, OL & or TL this is what I suggest when ppl unfamiliar w/ the brand ask esp. if they/you like smooth fragrances but as always decant first especially if you are spending over $100.
Tuscan Leather is superb. My partner and I love it. I've tried all the other TF's and this is the best imo. The dark raspberry opening is just gorgeous and the sexy leathery dry down is amazing. Can be worn with a dark, expensive suit or tough leathers. The gangster reference is apposite. It's only real rival for me is Dior's Leather Oud.
Fantastic video, wonderful setting, great list!! Keep up the good work!! Am now subscribed. Btw, TF sales rep in Selfridges said London is still available but only in London stores.
u guys are actually really good at reviewing fragrances, and know a lot. So I will subscribe, and hope that you guys review more and more nice frags. Good luck :)
I absolutely love your channel, in my opinion it is by far the best around. My only suggestion is maybe to promote yourself a bit more. You should have 10,000s of subs by now and I don't think word is getting around enough about you. Of course, that might be what you want, to keep it more exclusive which I can understand too. Keep up the great work.
Well thank you. To be honest, we try and avoid doing too many ‘click bait’ titles, and stick to what we are interested in, which I guess makes us less popular
@@WaftsfromTheLoft I totally respect you for that, I couldn't agree more. I am not a click bait fan. Your videos are always classy and stylish, so happy to hear you do not resort to such tactics.
Oh my God! I was living for the past few years thinking I'm crazy for liking the London and Tobacco Oud for how intoxicating and bold they are, and kinda thinking they are THE Tom Ford Private Blend fragrances. I got punched in the face by the first sniff too, but that made me think about it so much, Tobacco Oud became my first TF fragrance. I wanted the London right away, but it disappeared, and was trying to catch it for a long time. Recently in Dubai I did. Goooood I love these two...
My top 10: Moss Breches, Oud Wood, Venetian Bergamot, Tobacco Vanille, Sahara Noir, Bois Rouge, Black Violet, Bois Marocain, Arabian Wood & Jasmin Rouge(#1).....
My #1 is Amber Absolute (the original formulation). It's so bold that it kinda frightens me. One spray only type of perfume. A true monster. Grey Vetiver EDT is one of the best crafted citrus fragrances ever! I can say I enjoy it much more than Nio or Bergamote 22. The only one to face it on eye level is AdP Colonia Essenza. In my humble opinion, of course.
Great video. For Men Extreme sounds like a winner. I'll have to get a sample. I'm happy that London made the list. It's my favourite from the Private Blend line. Hardly ever gets mentioned on RU-vid. Have you guys tried Plum Japonais? If so, what do you think of it? I heard it might be the next one to be discontinued.
I have couple of TFPB. My top choice is: 1. Plum Japonais 2. Tobacco Oud 3. Tobacco Vanille 4. Oud Wood 5. Vanille Fatale 6. Lost Cherry 7. Lavender Extreme 8. Vert Dencens 9. Tuscan Leather 10. Fucking Fabulous Ombre Leather Anthracite.. But actually i love them all. Depends on your mood what you want to wear next
Honestly, I'm not a fan of Tuscan Leather. I enjoy the raspberry note, but the leather in it is not to my liking. Oud Wood is my favorite, with Italian Cypress being a close second. I do like Tobacco Oud as well.
Great list! I know that lists are subjective but to me Tobacco Vanille is so wonderful. It’s the one that gets me the most compliments from the ladies. Especially during winters.
LucidCode We actually had grey vetiver and that would have made it top 9, but decided not to include it as we thought there are better things you can get for the money
@@averoes4029 Noir Extreme has poor sillage. For an extreme scent, it sits close to the skin, not great projection overall. That said, it smells fantastic!!! You could eat it damn near lol!!
The main issue with Tom Ford lines: Private Blends: I smell high quality aromachemicals, but not adequately good blending, and almost everything (apart from the original 2007 releases) feels top-heavy, front-loaded and rushed to production. They are linear, but the 3D openings become 2D or 1D over time on skin, which need not be for linear fragrances (a glaring counterexample being Mugler Cologne). It's pretty obvious he was trying to emulate someone else here with Plum Japonais (Feminite du Bois), Tobacco Vanille (Fumerie Turque), Amber Absolute (Ambre Sultan). Most of the line is a rehash (though rarely improving upon the original) of something else. Secondly, I think they have a sales strategy of let's release all and see which ones do best, and remove the ones that don't and later re-release as limited editions or at higher prices. The perfumes are generally nice and agreeable (though often boring), but way too expensive for what they are. Signature Line: Counterintuitively, I think this line has better and more balanced compositions. Compared to what brands (niche or designer) charge, the Signature line is reasonable. In a slightly different context, have you guys tried L'Homme Sage?
Tom Ford Extreme is not a "Plum Fougere". Its not a Fougere of any kind to begin with, and there is no plum note. There is a fig fruit note. And a truffle note. Ombré Leather > Tuscan Leather. This video was done 3 years ago, but this Tom Ford fragrance was released in 2017, so it was available. My choice for #1, and really, truly, honestly a Fougere- Beau de Jour.
Partly based on your great detailed review , I received a sample of the TF ombre leather, and love it and its great performance, so I purchased a bottle , I had to order and wait a week because macys was sold out in stores, so I picked up another bottle at Sephora cause I could not wait, now I have 2. Sephora also carries tuscan leather but they have to order that, I want to try that one also , thank you both for what you do, subscribed.
My TOP =TOBACCO OUD,TUSCAN Leather,NOIR de noir,AMBER absolute, TOBACCO vaniLE,TOBACCO OUD & OUD WOOD INTENSE,and OUD WOOD, but PERFORMANCE to be DESIRED.
What are you thoughts on Noir Extreme? It was a blind buy for me as I got it for almost half the price on notino and so far I really like it. Last for 6-7+ hours, and I like smelling it myself.
@@NM-ev7pu Same I blind bought that one and I love it but haven't got much wear from it though. Lasts a long time when it's cool out and I sprayed on my jacket
Here is my favorite 8 list from my collection, in this order: Amber Absolute (vintage), Black Violet, Purple Patchouli, Oud Wood, Azure Lime, Japon Noir, Tabacco Vanille, and Italian Cypress. (I do own every other TF cologne, but those are the top 8. Runners up: Bois Marrocain, London, Lavendar Palm, Tabacco Oud Intense, Jasmine Rouge, Shanghi Lily, and MiMiMi - a Twisted Floral in-works parfume, Cafe Rose, Oud Rose (early formulation renamed), and how can I forget Noir de Noir!?)
Augustus Caesar: Yes, I suppose I did miss that and I’m sorry- they kept saying “10” a few times and I got confused. It’s very confusing tho because the title itself says “Top 10”!!! Ty 4 correcting me
Yeap Tuscan Leather is amazing a very addictive fragrance i also like Tabacco Vanille however it only shine's in colder weather. A bit sickly in warmer climate's. Ombre leather is nice also very suede like.
Hope you be fine Quite strange how Gentlemen like u LEFT TOBACCO VANILLE It Would be the classic fragrances after 10, 20 year It's also Mass pleasing ❤❤
I don't know if y'r glasses are plastered or whatever , but the bottles are not focused. I was unable to read it ! By the way the reason why so many bottles are discontinued , now everybody's talking about him , just havent got time for other brands switching bottles in the perfumeshop all the time ! ;-)
I don’t see any reason why any fragrance should be for a man or woman. I’ve got plenty of fragrances that are marketed to women. If you like it you can wear it!
I just got a 2010 bottle of oud wood. To me it smells different from the current formulation. Have you smelt the vintage and current formulation? What do you get from the two?
I haven’t smelt any new bottles of Oud wood, but there are certainly some TFPB that have been reformulated, notably Tuscan Leather which feels like it has been somewhat neutered. I wouldn’t be completely surprised if OW has been reformulated as well.
Do you think Neroli Portofino is a Muglar Cologne upgrade? I have the latter and love it but it seems that NP is a bit of an upgrade. Maybe not for the price? I received an NP sample this week. Thoughts about a better alternative?
Nice vid, guys...! Talking about resemblances and “Tom For for Men Extreme”, please, try “L’Art de la Guerre” by Jovoy... Btw, my latest and biggest love from Tom Ford is Oud Wood Intense... Oh-My...!!!!
Juan José López-Viota Segura I’ve not tried the intense. I’m not a huge fan of the original, but I’m keen to see how he has improved it with the intense. Jovoy are a great house, so I’ll definitely check our L’art de la guerre
Please, check that Jovoy and tell me your opinion. As for OW Intense, it has NOTHING to do with OW. It’s getting a lot of “negative attention”, my POV? BIG LOVE. Thanks for your videos, guys! Best regards from Palma de Mallorca!
Just Tim it’s a nice, clean vetiver. For my taste, it’s not TF at his most creative, so we didn’t include it, but it’s still a classy scent. If you enjoy Grey Vetiver you may like Citiver from Dueto www.duetoparfums.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=52
I must check that out! You should choose 13 Chypres, or quantify Chypre in terms of its numerology (whatever that is ...) and then make a list to reflect that ... or not. Anyway, just found your channel and subscribed.
Love your videos. Interesting that you say can’t detect any Oud in Tom Fords Oud fragrances. What would you say Oud in its pure form smells like? I hear so many different things from fresh earthy to old wine barrels. A lot that I have tested seem to be heavy in rose or is that the Oud? What would you say is the closest interpretation in a mass market fragrance.
Kurt Nobler hi. The great thing about Oud is that it varies enormously, from region to region and even tree to tree, which makes it such an interesting ingredient. From what I understand from distillers, it can vary enormously from tree to tree. As such, it can’t be used in large quantities in any mass produced fragrance, as it wouldn’t be possible to have a consistent source of a specific Oud on that scale. The best examples I’ve encountered are in areej le dore, Bortnikoff and Dusita. I’ve not tried any ensar Oud, but I understand they are exceptional. A company like Ajmal, based in Dubai, use Oud extensively and are cheaper than some of the houses listed above.
Thanks for the reply. Most of the Oud based fragrances I have tried have something that is so hard to describe in terms of “Smells Like” but definitely something. Your explanation gives me some perspective on why it’s hard to pick it out distinctly.
I'm always baffled when people say they can't smell the oud in Oud Wood! To me it is extremely prominent, though perhaps smoother than in some other oud fragrances I have smelled. I've even seen people say that about Midnight Oud by Juliette Has A Gun, which blows my mind, because in the case of that one the oud is almost a shrieking, burning-tires note in the beginning, before it mellows to something that skates the line between abrasive and enjoyable. I think perhaps some people are simply more sensitive to the scent of oud. I certainly find it hard to miss in even very small quantities.
Noir de Noir, Black Orchid, Violet Blonde, Rose Prick, Velvet Orchid, Cafe Rose, Champaca Absolute, Oud Fleur, Tobacco Vanille, Plum Japonais and Noir pour Femme. These are the ones I own and love. I own decants of the entire line. But I only own full bottles of the ones I listed. You keep mentioning London, it’s a horrible fragrance and Oud Wood is the only Oud I can tolerate. I do own a small bottle of it but I never reach for it, I am in love with Rose Prick. He should mix Rose Prick with his Oud Wood. But yeah I highly doubt there is any Oud in Oud Wood. Which is why I like Oud Wood. I knew there wasn’t any Oud in Oud Wood coz I absolutely abhor Oud fragrances. They smell like nasty ass. Fecal.
Well I changed my mind . I don’t hate Oud, I hate cheap fecal barnyardy Oud. I have about a dozen Oud perfumes from Areej Le Dore, some from Ensar, 6 from Bortnikoff, Abdul Samad Al Qurashi, Spirit of Dubai and Ajmal. I know other perfumers make Oud perfumes but 99% of them use Oud accords and perfume houses like Fragrance Du Bois are overpriced and they use very very tiny trace amounts of Oud . I can’t stand crook houses . Xerjoff is the same, their Oud is fake . And their frags are very overpriced.
@@WaftsfromTheLoft understandable, just thought they are sometimes the only way to Discovery beautiful scents or get to know exctinct scents, like Tom Ford may be unreachable for some people. Most important, you could help some of your viewers clarify if those scents were close to the real deal or not, especially when sampling is not available.
