The writers are without a doubt the main villains of the show. They have the power to manipulate everything from the story writing to Ash's character whatever they want for profit lol.

If I remember right even the Director of that episode was even pissed about Tobias believer it was in a tweet that he mentions it

Ash vs the constant need to keep making money by making him lose. It's literally impossible.

Let's admit that that battle was against the top 2, yes ash only made it to the top 4, but ash deserved the 2nd place spot due to him defeating 2, 2 of tobias' legendary pokemon, while no other trainer even the technical second place trainer was able to defeat darkrai

Roxie was actually one of my favorite gym battles as a kid, nowadays I probably would have it a little lower but it's still in my top 10.

@Teetune 07 the fight was STILL a one sided sweep since even without Darkrai ash stood no chance of winning. At least every other fight where ash defeats a legendary, it's enough to give ash the victory

@@eljordinio7647 I think that's a bigger reason to give ash a legendary. his boxing a legendary Pokemon that is darkrai! his only using sceptile! like imagine your a rookie sniper sniping a legendary enemy that killed the biggest threat with a dead count of 300. but only made him bleed out. but at the same time he snipe your sniper and destroyed it at the same while in the process he injured your jaw. yet the general immediately say's afterwards. "you have no right to hold a better weapon for not immediately killing a legend."

And screw Goh! For stealing the spotlight when he is NOT supposed to be the lead protagonist.

Pikachu, Charizard, Sceptile, Infernape, Lycanrock and Greninja ( if greninja does not return by this time then Lucario/ Dragonite can take this spot) but ik sure this is not gonna happen.. his old Pokemon are gonna rot in the lab thts it...

Ash def gotta use some cheater juice to beat tobias. Bring back the gren, pikachu, mega evolve the charizard, the last three between snorlax, sceptile, ape, incineroar, melmetal, naganadel, Dnite, gengar, or lucario

@PearlEaglit Lycanroc's pretty tanky in the anime. It took about 4 counters + 2 Stone Edges from Gladion's Lycanroc and still won. Sceptile managed to beat Tobias' Darkrai, who had relatively full health at the time. Dracovish is strong, but its best feats were beating Iris' weakened Dragonite with a 4x super effective Ice Fang. Dragonite's incredibly durable, definitely one of his best. Heracross is great, but it kinda pales in comparison with a lot of the others.

@PearlEaglit the reason I took both infernape and Charizard is cause.. infernape is fighting type too and Charizard is flying type(I mean it has flying type attacks) and Lycanrock is weak??? Mann!! Thts one tough Pokemon... Imagine getting back up after 4 counters and the sky drop by braviery.. I don't think any Pokemon wuld stand up after falling frm tht... CMG to sceptile.. sceptile did not get much chances after evolving.. it did perform well in the battle frontier and with tht less experience it beat a fucking Darkrai tht was seaming invincible.... Yes melmetal is mythical so he may use it as advantage.. but even without legendaries ash can best Tobias with his Aces of all regions... In the anime ash uses one of his worst Pokemon against Tobias except sceptile and Pikachu.... Let's see.. but I don't see any of his old Pokemon CMG to his team to battle.. because his current team on its own is powerful... His dragonite has proved to be incredible although it's attacks seams to be too slow.. consideri vs iris using dragon claw or destroyer beam it was damm slow but still it has gr8 resilience.. lucario needs more screentime.. hoping they'll make a new type of evolution named Aura Bond or smt... Cause we know Ash has Aura within him...

I also refer to him as the badly executed Red proxy. Imagine if everything stayed the same, but it was some silent guy with a red hat sweeping with Mewtwo and Charizard.

My headcanon for Tobias’ team is Darkrai, Latios, Feebas, Magikarp, Sunkern, and Wurmple.

They are the 2 most memerable battles in the pokemon anime after all. Ash finally beating a rival who’s basically Ash’s opposite and his toughest Rival he almost beat with his strongest pokemon in the finals

Really happy that it didn't feel like Charizard only won because of type matchups. The struggle of that battle genuienly made the victory feel earned.

No Charizard vs Magmar was even more tough than Charizard vs Articuno

@@Azzie-z3b he went from having the best battle of his life to getting brutally destroyed in spite of taking down two of his opponent's six. That shouldn't be how ur league run shoud end. It's humiliating cos of how rushed it was and the fact that ash stood zero chance of winning. Even Sceptile and Pikachu Alone couldn't turn the tide Ash may get props for beating two legendaries but getting ripped apart like that was just disrespectful

think about. most of ash's rivals and friends who mind you are elite level got immediately sweep by Tobias darkrai. yet ash is the first person to break his 1 shot spree with darkrai by not even using a legendary Pokemon. it's just a sinnoh starter Pokemon. mind you it's the weakest. no offense it is one of the great starters for any game version period. it just had a disadvantage to the others since it's up against torchic and mudkip. blaziken with that blaze kick is crack. and marshtomp with spamming the move surf is God at this point in the game.

The crazy thing? Tobias's team was supposed to be movie references, according to the storyboarding that said he would also have a Lucario and an Entei. So . . . Spell of the Unown, Heroes, Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, and Rise of Darkrai were the four movies that were picked to be "represented" by the team that would stomp Ash, before the writers realized he wouldn't need to fight four to lose.

He suplex'd a tank on one of the early episodes, thing was a beast.

Sceptile was the one who got the kill so he gets the credit

Even swellow doesn't get much love yes It fainted at once fighting latios but it was a beast in hoenn everyone forgets about it

Nah flint infernape fight with all his strength only against Garshomp that's pretty obvious just look at his expression facing garshomp and how calm it was smashing Pikachu Against Pikachu he was clearly holding back

It was also a battle that legitimately hospitalized Ash’s Pokémon, which doesn’t happen too often, even when he loses. I mean, sure heading to the Pokémon centre is a regular thing, but it doesn’t often happen where the Pokémon are actually wrapped up in bandages and take longer to heal.

And the worst part is that Jiren is already an inferior version of Toguro from Yu yu hakusho so you know how bad Tobias is when he's even worse than that.

You can watch on yt/gogoanime the day it comes out. The subbed version usually is out 6(possibly earlier) -24 hours later

I probably would’ve included Snorlax and Charizard. Snorlax knows sleep talk, and is quite a heavy hitter. And Charizard was another powerhouse as well, and if Ash saw an opportunity, he might’ve used Charizard’s blaze to an even greater degree than Infernape’s.

@@eljordinio7647 You are correct there, but the fact it was in the finals and Ash lost is a personal berserk button for me. I’m not sure why but watching the main character and/or my favorite character lose in the finals just pisses me off. I can handle any lower place, like top 4, top 8, or even last place, but second place to me hurts way worse.

@@supersonicheroes in greninja's defence he didn't have any super effective moves against his mega opponent, greninja is kinda frail and Charizard had way more experience to the point where it beat 10 Megas in a row. Greninja had only beaten two

@@eljordinio7647 Maybe, but wasn’t it also stated that Ash-Greninja was supposed to be stronger than Mega Evolution once mastered? Even if it wasn’t, they already lost to Alain twice previously, and all the teasing and buildup the writers did that Ash was finally going to win turned out to just be them trolling fans. That’s the real slap in the face, which made me quit the anime for three years.
