Worked for a Montana Dairy Farmer, (I grew up on a dairy farm) who had at one time around 2000 acres, that was down to 400 when I worked for him, did his Handline and Wheel line Irrigation but also helped in the field here and there, he had 2 1086's, one set up for bale work with a Loader. Bought them both in the 70's when he took over the Place when his Dad passed, who did the same thing when his Dad passed, he have never rebuilt either Engine until a Canadian Guy looking for work cooked one of the 2 with headphones on lol, she sprung a coolant leak, and he was in lala land. The older Ranch hand was a Gearhead, chucked it in the Shop and re sleeved it in a flash, ran like new, all he ever really did to them was filter and oil changes, rock solid Tractors.

Our big tractor was a 1975 ih1066 black strip that as delivered dynoed at 136hp, had 100hours when picked up and years later when sold was a couple away from 4000hours, entire time we had all we ever did was normal maintenance

IH1066,1086. Deere 4320,4430,4440. White 2-85 and 2-105. Allis 185 and 200 Ford TW20. On a side note if you're interested in a four-wheel drive white with a 3208 cat motor there's one here in Missouri for $4,000 but it's blowing oil out the dipstick it does run

Tenneco acquired Case in 1969 and I H in ‘84. Of course Tenneco was a big, public Co. This explains why Case “ screwed up.” They no longer existed as a single lone Company that could do as it decided.

It's kind of interesting how the tractor manufacturers were chasing bigger horsepower, and by that chasing bigger acreage farmers, and selling many fewer units. A production run of '7,000'? Look back at the Ford N series, Ferguson TO/MF series, AC WC/D/D45, IHF H/M/etc where hundreds of thousands of units were sold. It's as if the agriculture brands just demanded someone consolidate them all.

the 4430 in the 70's had equal or better everything than the other brands, cab, engine, hydraulics, brakes, transmission etc. the 4430's biggest issue was the need for final drive upgrades, most 4430 final drives have been upgraded to the 4440 final drives imo 4430 beats the 4230 on fuel economy due to turbo, 4430 beats the 4630 due to 540&1000 pto and 4630 transmissions were not strong enough, 4630 were really nice strong tractors but i remember when the trans rebuild was about 12k and the tractor was only worth about 16k after the trans was rebuilt

For jvin248 below , I,m in england , & I was told one of the issues Harry Ferguson & Sir David Brown fell out over was that Ferguson believed the issue of harnessing more power on farms was entirely achievable by simply selling those farms more little grey fergusons , whereas Sir David argued that these same farms were simply not going to buy more & more small tractors to cope with a big job , they just wanted the same number of bigger horsepower tractors , history tells it,s own story , as the western agriculture went for modest fleets of high horsepower tractors , but eastern agriculture went for large teams of modest horsepower tractors , ( we,ve all seen the magnificent photo,s of girls driving huge fleets of tractors that looked like direct copies of Standard Fordsons , harvesting the Ukranian Steppes , for much needed grain ) , & American & Canadian farms being worked & harvested by one or two massive tractors . So you draw your own conclusions , it probably came down to social differences . In the books I,ve read on this subject , Henry Ford senior believed Harry Ferguson was right , & backed him with factory facilities at that time . Ferguson once said Ford was " the best friend he,d ever had " ( this was right after Ferguson sued one member of the Ford hierarchy for continuing to make Ferguson,s draft control system outside of patent licence , & knew his relationship with The Giant Ford Organisation was over ). All this is in books if you take the trouble to read them , Best regards .

@RJ1999x
@RJ1999x 2 года назад
@@jblazer147 I love the internet and all the BS spread as fact. See my name RJ1999? It stands for RJ 190x in the alpha numerical world. I forgot more about Allis Chalmers then you will ever know, and what you're saying is complete BS. I own the only 190xt series 3 that came from the factory with 24.5-32 tires, my uncle bought it new, it went to a cowboy who tried to destroy it with a loader loading logs and I bought it back when the guy went broke. First thing I did was open the backend up to see what the rear end was like after 25 years of big tires loaded with fluid, and a cowboy trying to wreck it for 10 of them, and guess what, it like brand new. The bullgears, the ring and pinion look like brand new. You're one of those bar room experts that just likes to hear yourself ramble on subjects you know nothing about. The construction stuff had no issues that weren't related to idiots driving them, and I be willing to bet you never owned anything Allis Chalmers. Your picture is a white! Now let's talk about rear ends, axles, over and unders, engines, lol. Try again with your BS I've heard it all, yet in 58 years have never seen any of it, and I own 23 Allis Chalmers that all work on our farm. They are not static displays

I’m having a lot of trouble with your rating of these tractors. The 1066 was not in the mix and I believe there was about 54,000 built and I know it was a better tractor than the 1068 because I have both of them. The 966 wasn’t in there either and there was 21,000 of the sold . You put the Ford 9000 in there and their motors would pull but, not for any period of time. Prone to coming apart. I could say more but, I’ll leave it at that .

In the long run these Tractor companies stuff every country town in the western world. Bigger machines meant less components, eg, Tyres, fan belts, water pumps and most of all mechanics, fuel agents ,tyre companies etc. They destroyed the average small farmer who kept the country towns in survival mode. Within the next 50 years, in our area there will 10 farmers left to do the work and man a fire brigade , where as years ago there were 150 farmers in that area. Thats progress, Hey ? In the process the companies actually put themselves out of business. Its great to have nuclear bombs [ high horse power tractors ] but let them sleep, for a more prosperous world ?

@ronkennedy8676
@ronkennedy8676 2 года назад
Why did you prefer the 1070?
@kybornkyfarmer5449
@kybornkyfarmer5449 2 года назад
The 1070 is a lot more powerful for 1 the straight shift there is no worries about the pump or powershift problems the 2090s are known for the 1070 you put it in gear you go the 2090 you put the 4 speed in gear then you try to shift the power shift it goes to second then you try to go to third and sometimes it hangs in second so you drop back to second you hit the clutch it locks up like you pulled the e brake bad design by case really then if the charge pump is acting up that’s a whole other story then you can fully double clutch and make it shift without shifting the powershift and make your hydraulic remotes stop working pull on a hill leaning to one side then the other pumping your clutch to charge and uncharged your system until your remotes start working again then on depress your clutch about 1 inch when shifting sow you don’t make in change the charge again so your remotes don’t stop again it’s truly a pain in the rear to run one on my 3rd trans rebuild in it now me and a Machanic friend from the mines done it this time doesn’t seem to have as much trouble as when I paid h&r agripower to do it the past 2 time and didn’t cost 10k like the first time or 15k for the second so I stick to my 1070 most of the time now worst thing about it that can happen is clutch go out just put one in it 10 years ago had it split and back together in 2 days with the 1070 you hit a soft spot with my 18ft disk you raise it a little bit and go on with the 2090 you might and you might sink it if hydraulics don’t respond this is just a few of the reasons I choose the 1070
