I loved Janice in Friends! Yeah, she's 'annoying', but she's actually pretty sweet and thoughtful in a lot of her scenes. The Friends group bitch about her, but she's far from the worst person in that group.

Rory was a good portrayal of a person who spent her high school years being told how super smart she was, then not being prepared to met her Mitchum Huntzberger. She was a cautionary tale about gifted kids.

@@kyndrablankenship1758 Mitchum Huntzberger was a character on Gilmore Girls. When Rory went to Yale, she got some journalism internship and Mitchum Huntzberger was her boss. He told Rory that she should probably not prusue a career as a reporter. Mitchum was an important character on the show because he was the first person to not be impressed by her giftedness.

I really, really hated, how she was portrayed in the sequel. Last two episodes of season 7 it looked that she's on the right path again and then... 10 years later still standing in the same spot. It didn't work for me.

Sheldon was entertaining, but he was not more unlikable or insufferable than all the other characters. All the other characters on the show had the same superiority complex and insufferableness as Sheldon.

You only say that because she wasn't the main focus of the show. Joey has definitely shown he's a great person. If they only showed his good traits he would be a boring. Flawed characters are more realistic

Justice for Dawn! The hate on that character is so overblown. Always confuses me when people wish death on the 14 year old traumatised child for being annoying yet will defend a souless, murdering vampire who SA'd his love interest.

So Rachael wasn’t the best person and did some questionable things but to say she’s one of the worst characters please. No excuse but she was constantly bullied. Quinn cheated with her boyfriends best friend, got pregnant and convinced her bf it was his. Everyone on that show had major character flaws. Where’s Sue Sylvester on your list? She was a disgrace.

Janice is too overhated. She really did care when she dated Chandler and Ross and if anyone got together with Janice, they would be mocked or questioned. Ross, although not great at times, was sweet. He showed that he did care for Rachel (e.g. almost taking her to prom, missing his tv show to take her to hospital) and looked out for his sister. He even taught Phoebe to ride a bike.

I would also add Connor in Angel. Think he was actually worse then Dawn. At least she was just a typical teenage girl. I mean, Connor locked Angel away in a box in the ocean for months.

Don't hate on Dawn from Buffy. A lot of her "annoying" traits were really caused by the situation she was thrust into. She never had time to adjust.

I could never stand Rachel as a teenager, she seemed to get everything handed to her, despite doing the bare minimum, and never stopped bragging about her talent, although she was surrounded by equally talented individuals. It's even harder to watch nowadays, knowing how Lea abused various fellow cast members on the set.

Agreed. It never made sense to me that the show basically painted her as the most talented person in the country and that that somehow excused her behaviour. Sure, she was (is) a fantastic singer, but there are thousands of people who are just as talented as she was and that doesn’t have her bad attitude.

I don't think Chuck Bass is an unlikeable character (although those tortured flashback scenes with his Dad are quite grating!)- far more irritating were Vanessa and Serena IMO!

I actually really like Andy from the Office, maybe except last 2 seasons. His quirks and annyoing behavior are undeniable but I'd say hate is waay too strong of a word for Nard Dog.

As much as I want to put Rachel from Glee at number 1, the choice of Joffrey was excellent. I was punching the air in triumph as he writhed on the floor gasping for air … and honestly I really thought that actor should have at least been nominated for some award that season because it was one of the Best death scenes I had ever watched.

I would've added Nellie Oleson from Little House on The Prairie on this list. The majority of the fanbase hates Nellie but its fun to watch her tantrums and her character arc later in the series.

But Nellie had a growth, redemption arc over the series as Nellie came to recognize that her mother's spoiling treatment wasn't actually the love she always craved. Nellie wasn't completely hateful. Nancy, on the other hand, had no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Every time I see Rory and Lorelai's dynamic on Gilmore Girls it makes me wonder who is the mother and who is the daughter since she had Rory at a young age and tried to be there for her. Rory was much better off with her grandparents than with Lorelai; there is a fan theory that the show is Rory's autobiography or the show is all in a depressed Lorelai's head after losing custody of Rory to her parents

The reason why I for one love to hate him is because Homelander can be very childish, and usually tends to be the butt of the joke for his lack of growth. And yes, he is NOT a protagonist, but he has protagonist syndrome. Clearly, he is a definition of what if a realistic, selfish and self-righteous Mary Sue or Gary Sue could look like in real life, but in the perspectives of others.

There’s nothing to ‘love’ about Joffrey, he was a sick, evil little sh*t that didn’t have a gruesome enough end if you ask me. Total props to his actor though, can’t imagine how hard of a role that had to be but he excelled at making the audience hate his guts.

I loved Janice! Yes, she's loud and her voice is annoying, but she's smart, caring, funny, she comforted Rachel and Chandler in accordance to the kids topic, she's not dramatic about Joey not liking her, she tried to show herself the better version instead and finally, when Chandler told her about his "feelings" in S10, she convinces that they both love their spouses Janice is a queen🫶

Her downfall was a realistic logical result of her high school years of being given everything and told how smart she was by everyone in Stars Hollow and her grandparents. Mitchum Huntzberger was the first not to admire her for her pile of books and she was unprepared. Rory was a cautionary tale about gifted kids who were rewarded for ability, not effort.

I would have added Elena Gilbert to this list. To me, she become more insufferable as the seasons went on. Her world either revolved around Stefan or Damon, no matter how much they put her, her friends and family in danger and toyed with both of their hearts. It was worse with Damon. She would always lie to her family and chose to protect him over her friends, ignoring the fact that Damon tried to kill most of her friends and her brother. And if she couldn’t be with Damon she would act as if her world could no longer go on which was really annoying cause again her world revolved around him 🙄

Joffrey was definitely horrendous so it makes sense he’s the top. Also Sheldon is definitely one to hate too, he’s an entitled brat who thinks he’s better than everybody else, also his mom Mary is partly to blame since she coddled him for so long

Seems like you were only looking at shows from late 90's into the 2000's. What about J.R. Ewing?? He was obsessed with building up and running Ewing Oil. He proved this by doing an oil deal in front of the hospital while his father was on the verge of death. He drove off his middle brother and did his best to get Bobby out of Ewing Oil. Not satisfied with that he drove his wife Sue Ellen to become an alcoholic and just look at his treatment of his lovers. Also, George Jefferson from the Jeffersons and Archie Bunker from All in the Family should be on this list. They were the biggest bigots I've ever seen George being bigoted against whites - especially against Helen and Tom Willis since they were an interracial couple when that was very unusual. Archie was the biggest bigot against anyone that didn't think like him - this extended to his hippie son in law. I'm sure there's many more that are probably just as good or better than some on this list.

Chris from the original charmed, Caroline from vampire diaries, Gibby from iCarly. I never had a problem with Sheldon on big bang theory,it was Leonard that he was annoying cry baby jerk,it was so satisfying that he got what he deserved in the show too. I never got into the office would but I though the most hated character on that show was not Andy it’s Dwight etc.

With the exception of JR Ewing I don't think many people love to hate any of those characters. They're more like characters you love in spite of themselves.

I didn't love to hate Joffrey. At the end of season 3, I was so pissed off that after so many character deaths, that little psychopath was still alive, that it became one of the reasons I stopped watching the show. Though, joke's on me, since he dies at the start of season 4.

Janice : Annoying but A Classic. Dan Scott: Hated him but didn't want him to Die. Rachel: Not my favourite character but I didn't hate Her. Oliver: Stupid/Ridiculous Joffery: Horrible/Nasty/ And Greedy.

Howard annoyed me as Big Bang went on, because he became the “Quagmire” of the show. Howard, sometimes at the START of the episode for NO REASON, will insult his friends just for his own laughs. But the moment a character directs an insult BACK at him in retaliation, he does the “Be nice. I’m a nerd. I was bullied.” He is even more worsened by Bernadette because she pushes him to be even more insulting and HE enjoys cowering behind her aggressive bullying.

You forgot Frank Burns from M*A*S*H he's a very funny hateable character and a great example of the karma Houdini trope he was a jerk for Five Seasons and yet faced no consequences for his actions

I personally like Pete Campbell, I do think that his character arc is one of the best in TV. In fact a lot of characters in Mad Men act that way.
