UAD put they focus on quality, forever, and now with native plugins, has touch the highest level on the developers universe. UAD and Softube my hands downs plugins. Thanks.
As an UAD Ultimate user, i can say UAD has exceptionally good compressor and preamps. They are UAD top plugins. My top picks are: 1. LA2A Collection 2. Pultec Collection 3. SSL E 4. NEVE 1073/1084 5. API COLLECTION These are UAD's second-to-none plugins. they have best pultec, best la2a, best ssle, best neve and best api. In case of 1176, delays, and reverbs, i feel like other plugin makers also do pretty well.
@@SanjayC When tracking a vocal, yes. I use preamps on unison mode. I personally prefer manley, but many preamps sound great, and it's all about taste. it really worth it's price
Really great video, Sanjay. I would love to see more videos focused on plugins and their use in different applications (vocals, pianos, guitars, etc). I use VSTs for all my instruments, so I'd love to learn more on how to make them sound better, more full, and warmer. I also don't have the funds (or room) for hardware consoles, so it's nice to see that plugins can get really close to their hardware counterpart when it comes to mixing/mastering. Always look forward to your Saturday morning videos, and these midweek bonus videos are just icing on the cake! Have a great week, my friend.
Hi Kevbo! Thanks so much for your comment. I'm going to be doing more plugin exploration type videos in the future. What would you like to see more of?
@@SanjayC To not bombard you with a list of plugins, 🙂, I would like to see Slate Digital Virtual Mix Rack in use. I currently have it, and have been using that the most, but I am still a novice when it comes to mixing/mastering. I would love to see the potential I can get out of it. As always, thank you for continuing to communicate with your community and reply to so many of us. It really gives the feeling of comradery, and that we're all recording, mixing, and mastering together.
I’ve been trying to test everything and more I learn about the plug-ins, the more excited I am to make more music! I would have to say that the Studer is my favorite plug-in so far!
Had been tracking via the Century Tube channel strip on my Apollo Twin forever. So glad to have it as a native plugin now. Definitely a sleeper UA plugin.
These are some really solid choices! I love the character of the Hitsville Reverb, and use it much more than I thought I would. I am also a huge fan of the Brigade Chorus, sometimes with the Hitsville. The tape goes through just about all of my drums now, and the type determines which tape I use. Also, the Waterfall Rotary Speaker is also an unexpected surprise! Thanks for the tips! 🙏
Great list and I hugely appreciate the chorus trick for the 224. I've had it for years and I never knew that. That's what happens when you don't read the manual, I will now :)
Love anything and everything UA!! Awesome list!!! My favorites, the classics: the RE Tape Echo (or any tape anything to be honest). Love their piano and synth plugins too! There's just so much to pick from, hard to pick!
@@SanjayC Doing great, thanks for asking! Hope you are too! And always a little better when you release a new video, because you are that good. Keep up the awesome work
Love this! The Polymax is SO dope. Just bought it outright! I am however curious about what midi controllers you have in front of you here? I see some faders and knobs and it's peaked my interest! I recognize the Arturia of course, but wondering what the others are :) Keep making awesome content!
I know there's still introduction sale going on, but I can wait, especially now that Waves has brought back the original way of purchasing their plugins. I love UAD's original stuff, like the Hitsville plug-ins, PolyMAX & Opal, but I also like the Oxide and Century Tape. Who knows? They might add the Fairchild to Diamond & Mixing later this year. And I hope we get the Little Labs® Voice Of God Bass Resonance Native soon. I just subscribed to the newsletter. You're on the list, UAD!
Sanjay, amazing content as always. I have a question, do you use an amp for your headphones? I've been hearing a lot lately that interfaces saturate the signal from headphones. I saw your Neumann and wondered that.
Really cool video. Love the listening examples very much, especially Sanjay‘s voice, but honestly I couldn‘t afford the UA plugins although of course would like them. Who wouldn‘t. But I‘ve got many very good plugins, but unfortunately not a good voice. So at the moment I’m struggling quite a bit with getting my vocals sit right in the mix and sounding at least acceptable. That‘s not easy. Even the UA plugins can‘t work wonders in my case. Of course it has also got to do with the recording in a not treated surrounding which I must do everything myself. Looking forward to Saturday. 👍🏻
im waiting for so many more native plugins because i own a lot of their plugins. Especially for lexicon 480, the distressor and the tube tech compressor :)
@@JoeyFTL they also have lexicon 240 as a native plugin, or do you mean that this exists before (and is made by softube). So you think they won't made those plugins native? I guessed that before, but i'm stil hoping :)
Just purchased the volt 276 bundle with the free plug-ins and running studio one 5 l'm just and artist. I have no idea about production and using the plug-ins. Just wanted better vocals. I work with a 4x platinum producer we just completed my album. He suggested that I needed the Volt 276 interface..I need a lot help learn all this. This is very helpful. Thanks for the videos.
Again, I am working very hard *not* to add more plugins ;) *However* if I were to get something from UA, it would be their take on the Lexicon 224 and maybe the Studer A800. Apparently, Vangelis was one of the earliest customers of the former and - according to one of the engineers who worked with him - it has a registry number of 0002.
Maybe expensive for beginner home enthusiasts like myself. But surely deadly interesting. I would play waterfall for hours (and I already own many hammond simulations). It's nice to get them as native, UAD had to do that because with newer processors, DSP boards are not so attractive anymore.
Thanks, Sahr. I didn't write the Freedom song. That's Don't Dream Its Over by Crowded House. Great song...but of course thats my own arrangement of the song and my vocals. :-D Should I release it?
I've actually taken my UAD quad out of my PC. I've genuinely concluded their plugins don't sound that great. Ampex wasn't bad. I've gone back to Kramer tape and i'm happy with that.
Softube’s Tape is the best imo. For tape emulation. But that’s just my opinion. There are a few things UAD has that nobody else does. Their recent reverb chambers and the new Sound City are pretty unique. Also UAD has the best 670.
@@sub-jec-tiv Ive heard many great things about softtube and will have to try them for myself. I will agree with you on the 670! It may not surprise you that I'm not a big reverb or a 670 user. I'm still impressed with fruity convolution (not to mention it's inbuilt linear eq which sounds impressive) and ubermod.
Pfff UA doesn’t sound great that’s why you go to bs WAVES ?!😂 Hilarious.. Kramer Tape is ok .. but if it makes no difference to you against Studer A800 in actual Tape qualities(low end , high end, glue, Room feeling enhancing and so on - you need to invest in your listening environment
So they said if you buy a volt Interface i think a new one you get the compressors for free untill the 30.04.23 can i use them ? If i buy it ??? Or does it tell me you need a apollo twin ???
That's odd, I never noticed much noise coming from mine and I'd be pretty aware of that kind of thing. Under the hood of the studer, there are noise and hiss controls you can adjust.
Still too expensive compared to other plugin manufactures. Plugin alliance sales be like: 299 now 29.99 UAD sales be like: 299 now 150..... The need a rent to own option too.
