I love the genre. But there is a gross shortage of movies where the world actually ends. Apocalyptic series and movies are plenty, and many are good. But I want more where the earth becomes a molten ball or or a cloud of dust, etc.
I totally get that! The end-of-the-world genre is often about the apocalypse before the total destruction. It would be amazing to see more movies where the world truly meets its final fate, like a complete extinction event. I'll keep an eye out for those rare gems and add them to future lists!
The Day is one of the few movies that has shocked me so much that I have struggled to get through it. I think I had to watch it in three chunks over a week.
"The Day" can indeed be very intense. I'm glad you managed to watch it, even if in chunks. It's one of those films that can really pull you in emotionally. What were your main takeaways after watching it?
I'm glad you enjoyed To the Lake! It’s definitely a gripping series. The Zone can be a bit elusive, but it's worth tracking down. If you're having trouble finding it, sometimes niche streaming services or even fan forums can have leads on where to watch. Thanks for the comment! 😊
I understand your surprise! “28 Days Later” is indeed a very well-known film, but this list focuses on lesser-known productions. Is there another movie you think should be on the list?
I’m glad to hear that “The Day” turned out better than you expected! It’s always a pleasant surprise when a movie exceeds our expectations. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
"Carriers" is definitely an underrated gem. Its subtle and tense portrayal of a pandemic situation is gripping. It’s interesting that it reminds you of Stephen King's "Night Surf"-both share a similar eerie, post-apocalyptic atmosphere. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
It's true that "Vanishing on 7th Street" had a lot of potential, and a sequel could have explored its intriguing premise further. It's a shame it didn't get the continuation it deserved. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
I’m glad you enjoyed "To the Lake"! It’s definitely a gripping series. If you have any other favorite movies or shows, I’d love to hear your recommendations!
Great call on The Divide (2011)! It’s definitely a gripping post-apocalyptic film. And you’re right, The Night of the Comet is a classic that’s inspired many others. Thanks for pointing that out! 👍
@@bestmovies-wg1rq tanks for taking the time replying man. It is appreciated. Keep the good work…just found your channel and I really hope it grows enough for you to become a success…sincerely Sid
You’re absolutely right! "The Road" with Viggo Mortensen is a film that deserves special mention, even if it’s not unknown. Its intense storyline and powerful portrayal of a post-apocalyptic world make it an unforgettable work. Thanks for the reminder!
You're right; the "In a world..." trope has become quite clichéd and is often parodied. It’s definitely worth finding fresh ways to describe the setting in a more original and engaging manner. Thanks for pointing that out!
“The Rover” sounds like an interesting movie, and Guy Pearce rarely disappoints with his performances. I hope you enjoy it! Is there another movie from the list that caught your attention?
I agree, Guy Pearce is brilliant in this movie. His performance in “The Rover” is truly remarkable. Is there another movie with him that you particularly enjoy?
7 th street the only one I’ve not seen, great line up here. I’m noticing nothing really new in this genre has been done recently ( except the last of us)
It’s great to hear you’ve enjoyed the lineup! As for new takes on the genre, it’s true that it can sometimes feel like there’s a lot of rehashing of old ideas. However, there are always fresh perspectives and creative approaches popping up. The Last of Us has definitely brought some new energy to the genre recently. Thanks for the feedback, and I’m glad you found some new titles to explore!
Glad you enjoyed 'Carriers'! It definitely presents an interesting scenario where most of humanity died so fast that the infrastructure remained intact, which makes the world feel even more eerie.
I'm sorry to hear that you feel that way. If you have any specific feedback or suggestions on how we can improve, I'd love to hear them. Your input is valuable!
"A Boy and His Dog" is indeed a classic in the post-apocalyptic genre. It’s a unique blend of dark humor and dystopian themes. Thanks for mentioning it!
That’s an interesting comparison! Afterworld had a unique, post-apocalyptic vibe, and if you’re seeing similarities, it’s definitely worth exploring both for their different takes on a crumbling world.
Haha, I can see where you’re coming from! Navigating a post-apocalyptic world might seem like a piece of cake compared to some of the social challenges out there. At least in a dystopian setting, survival skills take precedence! 😄 Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Thanks for the feedback! I’m glad you liked most of the list. I’m sorry to hear that "Carriers" didn’t work for you. Different films resonate differently with people. I’m happy that you enjoyed "Defiance"! Do you have any other favorite films you’d like to see on a list?
Thank you for sharing your opinion! I understand that "Defiance" didn’t meet your expectations. Everyone has their own preferences, and opinions on films can vary.
