That's like a Who's Who of great Western movies! In Young Mr. Lincoln, I loved the delayed reaction of the judge to Lincoln's saying, "Well, I think I'll just call you Jack Cass."

Great movies all and I am glad you included 'Wagon Master' as it is an often over looked western. While I am a fan of 'Rio Bravo' and 'Drums Along the Mohawk' Bond's role as Dr. Joseph Holder in 1956's 'Pillars of the Sky', opposite Jeff Chandler, was a far larger and critical role. If you have not seen 'Pillars of the Sky' you might want to check it out as it is one of the better Calvary based westerns and has a great supporting cast including Dorothy Malone and Lee Marvin.

Really good character actor. I like all his movies. He is the policeman in “It’s a Wonderful Life”!

Don't forget that Ward Bond and John Wayne went to College together and started in the movies as extras.

Interesting to note that Ward Bond co acted a lot with John Wayne, and surprisingly also Hank Fonda. Wagon Master was probably a lead in to the T.V. Series Wagon Train later in his career.

I own all but two of these films ( The Wagon Master & Young Mr. Lincoln) and I love watching them, in no small part because of Ward Bond's presents. Even in movies where he has such small roles where if you blink you may miss him, his presents is still noticeable. It may sound strange but to me Ward feels more like a favorite uncle than just another actor on the screen. I guess that's why I have such a fondness for him. Somehow he seems to have a personal connection with the viewer that so few other actors are able to obtain. Truly one of the greatest of all time.

There is I think an important omission:Charles Marquis Warren’s “HELLGATE”. One of the very best Western Movies from the Poverty Road. A Lippert’s production… Keep on!
