The thing about the intro of Happy Tree Friends is that it's made to mock the children's theme songs and also to make you think it IS a children's show. And god did they trick me as a child.

I SERIOUSLY do not know why I liked the show Fanboy and Chum Chum as a kid, i literally do not remember any episodes but remember watching it, curse my past self!

I think that the happy tree friends intro adds to the show well because while it goes along, you just think to yourself "Ah shit... Who's gonna get brutally murdered this time?" It's almost like a warning alarm for what you are about to see - it's annoying yet charming at the same time in my opinion. Although I can see why people despise it.

The nutshack song actually does have more lyrics if you make it to the 30 second mark, but they make no sense so you’re not missing anything.

There's actually a children's book series called "Scaredy squirrel." I remember checking it out and reading it at my school library. It's actually a really nice book series, there are multiple books such as Scaredy squirrel goes camping, Scardey squirrel makes a friend and Scaredy squirrel at night. The main premise of the books are about how the squirrel is scared of this thing and how he learns to overcome his fear. I am sad to see how the children's show is much worse than the books.

I don't think HTF is trying to be "edgy" or annoying, the entire selling point of the show is that it's a morbid satire of preschooler shows, it looks to be innocent but it's dark and sadistic while appearing to be under the guise of being a children's show. Pretty much everyone I know that watches it does so for the same reason they view something like SAW, they just want to see stuff die and that's what it does. I can confirm that children can in fact stumble into Happy Tree Friend not knowing what they're going into... I was just 7 and I wasn't ready.

Personally, i'm not a big fan of Happy Tree Friends either. When it comes to videos that look like kid's shows but are actually horror, I prefer Don't Hug Me I'm Scared. While it does have some gore here and there, it doesn't get all its shock value from gore and also has some really frightening concepts and trippy plot twists. And because there's so many different ways to interpret DHMIS, it can really leave you thinking and feels like there was a lot of thought put into it by the creators. The puppets and backgrounds are also really well-made, you can tell they did their best to make the characters look not-quite-scary-but-just-a-little-off, so you always feel slightly uncomfortable watching them even when nothing creepy is happening. Meanwhile Happy Tree Friends feels like it's just repeating the same formula of violent deaths and body horror in every episode with no real thought behind it. And the animation looks pretty lazy most of the time. Basically, Happy Tree Friends makes me want to look away from the screen in horror and disgust, while DHMIS is so terrifying in a subtle way it captures my attention because I want to know what morbid twist is going to happen next.

Fun fact: The "Shaggy & Scooby Doo Get a Clue" theme song is actually a homage to a song by The Offspring called "One Fine Day." It's actually a pretty cool theme song the more you listen. Well, at least in my opinion. Also, my least favorite theme song is definitely "The Brothers Flub." It's kinda like Happy Tree Friends in the sense that it is ANNOYING AS HELL.

The only scene I like about scaredy squirrel is that dance he does at 7:57, it is just fine!

The thing that did make me really angry at Happy Tree Friends is that before I ever watched it when I was younger, they sold merch in stores that advertised the show as a kid-friendly, cutesy, harmless cartoon. Any little kid could pick them up, and later go on RU-vid to find and watch later, without knowing what the show was really about. I was at the weird age where I liked both cutesy and edgy stuff, so when the show got gorey the first time I watched it, I wasn't too put off, but imagine tiny little kids walking into something like that. It always felt slimy to me.

when you said "any young child can walk up to this show unaware that a rabbit can get its eyes stabbed out.'', that is what happened to me at one point. I was at least 4 or 5, and I was browsing Netflix, I found and it caught my attention. I watched a couple of episodes, my parents caught and weren't aware of the shows existent, and I never saw that show ever again. by the way, I'm 13.

Happy Tree Friends are my biggest child trauma that made me being scared of anything guts related for years... i first saw it when i wasn't even in elementary school on TV and to this day i feel uncomfortable when anyone even mentions this... "cartoon" around me. I have no problem with gore now but this cartoon is disgusting in concept and fact they played in on TV at like 10AM without thinking kids can see it is even more disgusting... no calling it disgusting is not enough.

You actually forgot Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures. The theme song itself looks too rushed and the lyrics does'nt make any sense and all the repeating lines "Pac Is Back" give me chills.
