I read recently that one of the actresses from "Shake it Up!" (Bella Thorne) only took a role on the show because her family was in serious financial trouble at the time, and she hated doing it. That may explain part of why the show is so tense and difficult to watch.
I just realized that Fish Hooks was responsible for launching the careers of Kyle Carrozza, Alex Hirsch and Justin Roiland. Mighty Magiswords, Gravity Falls and Rick & Morty owe part of their existence to Fish Hooks. Let that sink in...
I found Fish Hooks to be kind of pedestrian high school drama fare, but with a wacky, absurd twist. It was often pretty funny, but just not unique enough to stand out.
It tends to get the original Disney formula right once in a blue moon. It feels rushed, lazy, and cheap with animation that is way too hyperactive and writing that is just plain awful. Even in the episodes without writing, the shorts feel painful to watch. Only little kids and adults that think the shorts are "cute." I'd rather watch things like The Little Twister and Goofy Teaches Skiing any day.
I always thought it was supposed to be a "Demi Lovato-free" spinoff of the main show. If I recall correctly, around that time, Demi Lovato had made headlines due to her self-harming coming to light (cut marks on her arms, an eating disorder, etc.) I always thought So Random was meant to keep the "franchise" going while disassociating themselves with Demi Lovato.
@@guntherhermann4225 I think that's exactly what it was. So Random was the in show sketch show on Sonny With A Chance. They had to abruptly end Sonny with A Chance when the star Demi Lavato went into rehab. I'm guessing the other actors still had contracts so they decided to make the fake show a real show... it didn't work. It just felt like a crappy version of All That.
Disney during The Hannah Montana Age = Wow, Miley Cyrus is really making bank off this! We made her into a legend, a role model, and her merchandise is off the roof! She's gonna do great things for us in the future. Disney during The Modern Cyrus Age = *OH GOD WE FUCKED UP! WE FUCKED UP! NUKE THE SHOW! PULL THE SHELVES! GET THAT BITCH AWAY FROM OUR NETWORK! THIS ISN'T A MONSTER! WE CREATED A DEMON!*
+Markus Franklin If u don't like gravity falls and star vs the forces of evil than go stand in the rain where nobody is because everybody loves these showa
At least Nick's sitcoms are slightly more willing to tell slightly risque jokes and take chances withe their comedy. Disney's sitcoms are so clean and boring... yet they also have Pickle and Peanut. It's weird.
Yo Pie Guy Big fan! And I agree! I didn't watch a lot of Nickelodeon once I got into high school but every so often I'd see an episode of Victorious (or more like I'd encounter it on Tumblr while browsing my dash) and I'm surprised with what they've gotten away with!
Zack and Cody was Good, On Deck was okay but it sorta feel apart once Cody and Bailey became a couple. In fact Cody and Bailey are some of my most disliked Disney Channel characters. Bailey was also a Replacement Scrappy for Maddie and a worse character.
I remember watching like 5 minutes of an episode of jessie when I was a little kid and recognizing one of the kids as the actor who played chirag gupta in the diary of a wimpy kid movies
Well, I was ACTUALLY expecting "Shorty McShort Shorts" as the worst, not something that 1: got a DVD release related to a multi-episode plot(which I OWN, BTW!) and 2: combined with BOTH Suite Life shows and "Wizards of Waverly Place", for crying out loud!!!!!!!!!
Hannah Montana apparently really effected Miley’s mental health. She was constantly told that she wasn’t pretty enough by the show’s creators, which caused her anxiety and self-esteem issues that haunted her throughout her teenage years, (which was why I think she rebelled, to try and find herself and gain self confidence again), her parents would have horrible arguments on and off set, while the third season was being filmed, and she received no comfort from those around her, and according to her biography, she had her first period on set, which was really embarrassing and degrading. I do feel really bad for her, but I’m glad that she’s doing better now.
I know I'm responding to an 8 month old comment, but she's so pretty. I could draw her just because I like how pretty she is. (Yes, I'm talking about the teenage girl singer)
@@taylortyler1867 She was being told that at TWELVE YEARS OLD, she was going into her teenage years, the years where your brain is all over the place and your self esteem is low any way. That completely crushed her self esteem and she developed anxiety disorder. You think that it isn’t that bad because you haven’t been told that when you’re young and vulnerable. Kids and teenagers are impressionable, being told stuff like that can be damaging when you’re that age. Can you imagine being a grown adult and telling a twelve year old that she’s not pretty enough, think about how messed up that is for a second.
@@taylortyler1867 I actually find it’s the older generations who think they’re the only ones dealing with problems and then they crap all over young people, like you just did, when a young person is struggling with something. We all go through horrible stuff and we should be understanding towards one another, instead of comparing our struggles. You do realise that telling a kid stuff like that at that younger age can lead to stuff like eating disorders, self harm, depression, anxiety, etc. You clearly were never bullied for your looks as a child. You’re not being “realistic” you are being incredibly insensitive.
@@taylortyler1867 I don’t watch any of those shows because I’m not American, so try again. If you are so clever, then how comes you started an argument on a 1 year old comment, about something you clearly have not experienced yourself?
Not really. It takes its inspiration from internet culture more than anything. Whenever I watch the show, it reminds me of RU-vid Poops and the 'Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared' series. Both of which I enjoy to a degree. I find Pickle and Peanut entertaining, but it's not as good as shows like Gravity Falls imo. It appeals to my random, crude side of humor though. So there's that.
If Walt Disney came back from the dead as a zombie and saw these shows, I think he would just roll his eyes and crawl back into his grave. Edit: I avoid rewatching this for a month and come back to find that my stupid unoriginal comment has 108 likes? And here I thought YT had standards.
I always was *weird* in class because I HATED the shows with teen actors. Ugh...... Thank GOD DisneyXD has great stuff like, my favourite show of all time, Gravity Falls.
+Alicia Vazquez Mamchuk A girlfriend I had once fell for the Hanna Montana pandering. I stayed with her, oddly enough, but then, two weeks later on my birthday, she called me up and broke up with me over the phone. The worst part was that she said it in such a way that I knew she was just trying to stir up some sort of drama. That was my last girlfriend, and that was more than five years ago. I have not sought another relationship since.
+Alicia Vazquez Mamchuk Good, you're smarter than the rest of your class then. You stood for your beliefs, and didn't conform to their standards of what is considered "good".
I remember last year I was with my ex and we were watching Disney late at night, I think Kim Possible was on, I woke up at some point and Fish Hooks was on, I thought I was having a fever dream.
+Tony the electric ninja 17:29 im done, im done,... this guy is stupid, dumb, lazy fatass, who doesnt even want to watch the show, and not giving it a chance. fucking nerds, i guess you just want to watch all the action shows, not comedy, bitch
Walt Disney seeing future visions during his final moments: "I can see it! In the 90s, my company is going to make some of the greatest animated movies of all time! But wait...wait, there's more. They make...a bunch of shitty live-action movies that will be forgotten in less than a year after their release. And then a...bunch of non-animated TV shows that have little to no purpose other than getting hip with teens. OH NO! It's dark again! Where- *(See's images of a Miley Cyrus concert)* ...and I now welcome the sweet embrace of death". *And then he died before he could have a vision of "Frozen".*
Fucking lucky he did. I hated Frozen and it's songs because every girl in my school was cramming it down everyone's throat. I also thought that the story was unrealistic and unrelatable, but maybe that's because my brother and I hate each other
Hey Phantom, in shake it up, The cast actually revealed that the two main characters in real life had to do a lot better than each other, so there was actually a lot of despise between the two.
That clip you used for ANT Farm was probably not the best choice, as that was clearly supposed to be intentionally bad acting. Even if you haven’t seen the show before, you can still clearly tell from the clip that the joke is that the boy in the raincoat is pretending to be one of the girls and doing a dreadful job of acting it. I still agree the acting is pretty awful, but that was not a good way of showing it.
@@noto10_tsur22 no it's not, but it does have it's moments. Chyna was very likable, same with Olive. Mindy Sterling is always hilarious, and Zibby Allen had some good moments as well.
@@ChristoAbrie Ya now I agree that it's not one of Disney's best shows, back then I liked it. A lot of Disney's shows are just bad acting and non funny moments that have that annoying laugh sound track that plays every 5 seconds
Well watch mojo did hated shows (gravity falls not having an appropriate theme for kids) (I started watching the show when it first came out I was flippin 7 I loved it though) He did worst shows meaning that they sucked
But they did a top 10 Best cartoons of the 2010s and Gravity Falls had a number 3 spot. They even said "Let's pretend that the Most Hated Disney never happened."
5 reasons Disney Channel / Disney XD doesn't isn't as bad as Nickelodeon today 1. Gravity Falls (Even though it's ending, I'm putting this here anyway because the show is too good NOT to be mentioned) 2. Star vs. the Forces of Evil 3. Star Wars Rebels (Say what you will abut the show, lots of people enjoy the show for good reason) 4. Wander Over Yander 5. Phineas and Ferb
+Matheus Campos my thoughts exactly however 3 good shows don't really raise my opinion of the channel. although nick did introduce 90's Are All That. they also air Danny Phantom, My Life As A Teenage Robot and even Invader Zim from time to time. these reruns are largely in the background though. they're not the main focus.
+tvesrb Disney also had Kim Possible, Recess, American Dragon Jake Long, The Proud Family, Phil of the Future, Wizards of Waverly Place, etc. Disney flourished pretty much in the 2000s.
I'm actually VERY surprised Liv and Maddie and Girl meets world didn't make this list. The acting and scripts in those shows are so hot and dry, that a camel wouldn't be able to survive that heat. Same goes for Disney Descendants.
To be fair, both of those are somewhat harmless and Girl Meets World is basically a tiny reunion of the old Boy Meets World cast. Girl Meets World may not be a master piece but at least there's a tiny bit of light in the tunnel.
I don't get why Disney Channel just continues shitting out garbage shows, instead of actually remaking/continuing good but old shows, that alot of fans are still begging for. (American Dragon: Jake Long, Kim Possible and much more.)
Juan Strong Andi Mack is alright. It's often to cheesy and tries WAY to hard. Andi Mack herself is an awful character. Ravens Home is okay. It's better than the average Disney Channel show, but not on the level of shows Like Gravity Falls. Ravens Home is not a show I'm gonna be I'm gonna be trying super hard to keep up with. Tangled the series is legitimately good. My ratings for the shows would be. Andi Mack 5/10 Ravens Home 6/10 Tangled: The Series 8/10
@Sooble, personally, I like Andi Mack, but in some ways, it feels almost too mature for children, especially those who haven't had "the talk" yet. When you're halfway through the first episode, and a huge plot twist comes along where Andi's sister is really her mother, that will raise a lot of questions for young children. It's good Disney want to be mature, but you got to take your audience into consideration. Like maybe move it to a later time slot.
The last brilliant show on Disney Channel was Good Luck Charlie. It was also one of the few shows that had an actual live audience instead of a laugh track.
OK, let's see: Hannah Montana: I grew up with it, but i have to agree with this video, the show is terrible. Disney took a teenage girl and turned her into a disliked monster/whore. The show was cheesy, self absorbed garbage that doesn't deserve to be called a show. Ant Farm: The first season was better, but overall, the show needed better acting and better writing. Yea, the guy who played Cameron was the best actor on the show, but Jake Short (Fletcher) was second, however he did get better over time. The main character, Chyna, is annoying and makes everything all about her. Austin and Ally: Yea, i was expecting this show to be on the list. The show was fairly decent at first, but turned to shit real quick. The characters were so generic and stereotypical. Pickle and Peanut: Oh my God, this is an embarrassment. From the terrible animation style to the two extremely poor written main characters, i just can't watch this show. Fish Hooks: This shows that Disney is running out of ideas. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???!!! If they want someone to write shows desperately, i will go. Liv and Maddie: I know it wasn't on the list, but it should have been. This show is so boring, bland, generic, and typical that it gives me a headache. To make things worse, the fanbase is a bunch of teenage girls and kids. Shake it Up: Take garbage, and add more disgusting garbage, you get this show. The dancing is bad/sorta tolerable, the characters are annoying, i don't think anyone with brain cells likes this show. And there you have it. Modern Disney Channel.
And there's more: Jessie: Wow, creativity is one of the many things this show needed. The main character can do better than this show. This show has a bunch of kids who just cant act for shit. The plot was terrible, and the show didn't know what it wants to be. It was a babysitting show, a love story, a kid live-action sitcom, and the laugh track was overused to the next level. No clever jokes are in this show. Just a bunch of wasted potential. So Random: This is just a wannabe skit show. It has terrible acting, horrible cast, typical settings, and it is just plain annoying. The only good about the show is the jokes. They are actually surprising clever, and sometimes funny. Once again, that's Modern Disney Channel.
Memory Blocks if you think any of these shows are anything but COMPLETE SHIT, your opinion is null and void. I have to be firm on this. being young means you have bad taste. it's true now, always has been and always will be. it's a fact, not an opinion. plus any live action show on Disney makes kids dumber.
From what I understand Zendaya and Bella Thorne actually did get along and liked each other. However, Bella Thorne has gone on record saying that she hated doing the show and only did it to get her family out of poverty. (I don't know if Zendaya had the same feelings or not.) So that's probably where the obvious tension came from.
So random was Nickelodeon’s all that, but way way worse. All that was pandering, but it used that to add to its humor, and I found many of its skits creative. With so random, it’s way way way worse
Pickle and Peanut, WTF, this channel can't just be Disney, I mean, it looks like Beavis and Butthead mixed with that Fish show then blended with Flapjack
I’m halfway done my marathon of rewatching the chronological entirety of WOWP on Disney+! Sometimes it didn’t make me laugh when it tried to (and most other times it did), but nonetheless, it is a captivating show that was Disney’s answer to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter while being its own thing. Not to mention the main actors are attractive as well, especially David Henrie (anyone thought I was gonna go with Selena Gomez? Well, she comes close! Just like the rest of the Russos)! With all that said, someday soon, Disney could make *The Next New Wizards of Waverly Place* with the animation style of the WOWP game Spellbound and focusing on all the new and old (as in seen before since late 2007 when the whole franchise started) Russos and their major allies including newcomers like one of Selena Gomez’s TWO-DECADE YOUNGER sisters (Gracie Teefey or Victoria Gomez) as Alex Russo’s daughter and niece (children of one or both of Alex’s brothers)!
What about Dog with a Blog? -_- damn that show was annoying, it even made me wanna kick the dog. I also think Phineas and Ferb should have been on here (if it was my video lol) because all the episodes are the same. The boys are bored, they build something, Candace tries to bust them, Perry saves the day, the boys don't get caught, and Phineas says "There you are Perry." Even the characters in the show admit they always do the same thing. UGH! At least it tries to be creative...
To add insult to injury for So Random, one episode of it was officially pulled for good due to an eating disorder joke. Shake it Up also had one that former Disney star Demi Lovato called Disney out for.
Personally I like, even love some of these shows. Jessie and ANT Farm especially. But I respect your opinion. And I personally really like the music from Hannah Montana.
the only reason I really didn't like Austin and ally was because the concept of the 2 main characters was the same in all seasons (learn they like each other ,date, break up, don't move on but get new dates, date them, ditch them, and again and again until they finally got married in the end)
+Starlight Tigers Speaking of which, at what times does the Miley Cyrus footage start and end? I'm having trouble listening to Phantomstrider's opinion, because of the footage.
While those sound cool, we only have Knuckles Man, Rose Woman, Shadow Man, Vector Man, Espio Man, Charmy Man, Blaze Woman and myself. We're the Roboticized Masters!
You know how you can train yourself when you hear a bell to think of a memory of something, I hear your voice and it makes me think of terrible shows nothing bad it's just what I now think of
+PhantomStrider For shake it up I didn't really like the show Cause the acting wasn't that good. But on the contrary Bella Thorne and Zendaya moved on with their lives. Bella Thorne made one song, And was once a leader of team cocoa cereal company. Zendaya right now is still in K.C.
Disney channel sitcoms: (insert teen character here): Man, I've had a tough day at school. I'm just gonna relax and watch some TV. Laugh track: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
When I would actually pay attention to TV shows, these we're the *some* only shows that came on and I actually liked them but I understand your opinion.
Sorry but I think people just like to SWAC because of Demi Lovato, since the show itself has a lot of bad joke. If it was another actress not as well known to star in the show, I bet everyone would say "that stupid show, horrible and completely garbage."
+Cerealboxcreeper disney needs to stop trying to be that hip adult that the kids like... cuz its not anymore. in fact, just about everything on tv is cringe worthy especially kids shows. i only watch CN now for shits and giggles.
I've only seen 1 episode of that thing and it ripped most of it's plot for that episode straight from iCarly. It wasn't even trying to be original. -.-
In my opinion what Miley is is a teenager being "edgy", we've all been there, hers came late and she's famous so in all reality what did you exspect, this is why you should let your kids have an goth, edgy or whatever's popular in saying it's not popular phase, and also to give them proper guidance also
@@phantomstrider As of 2022, Miley's no longer edgy! She's went through a similar character arc to Taylor Swift. Tried to be edgy, failed, and returned back to their good girl personas, redeeming their fallen careers as a whole!
