My problem with him is that he isn't threatening. Comedic Villians aren't bad but they still need to be feared. Why not have him injure a main character like Ken poison him and run away so he doesn't put himself at risk of him losing in the end. That and make him turn on Bison should improve him by miles.
Him replacing sagat made me so mad fang is a worthless joke who's soul serves no purpose isnt remotely intimidating but sagat on the other hand is incredible
Bruh, this is why I love your channel; your references, examples and explanations on your lists carry logic, instead of feelings and conjecture . Great video!
I think Capcom needs to understand that while comic relief characters aren't a bad thing, they have to be likeable and can/should still be allowed to have notable moments. If you just make some goofball who is useless and wastes everyones time people will just find them annoying.
This is not a problem with just Capcom with Street Fighter. This is an annoying cliche that also occured many times in animes and some other japanese games in general. It doesn't happen with only fighting game characters sadly.
@@MultiGamer600 Yeah the wacky silly slapstick treetard that exaggerates the movements to make sure that any possibly funny moment gets injected with cringe instead. I wish this was a Japan thing but I've seen the comic relief fail on too many mediums. You're right though, they particularly leave a sour taste when they are in a medium that you enjoy.
For Abigail thinking he’s a truck, I think it’s due to brain damage he suffered from way back in Final Fight. That’s my head canon anyway. Edit: and again from his fight with Cody if that story happened before Abigail’s own story.
At least Dan has a solid story despite being a glorified jobber. Necalli started off strong but became irrelevant the moment Dhalsim matched him. Terrible character and Kage done nothing in the lore and Abigail, well less about him the better.
I mean, Dhalsim door probably be a lot more present in the lore since he's apparently the guy that freed Cammy from her brain washing, or something, IIRC, which sounds like the kind of thing that would get Bison's and/or Rose's attention.
I feel like Necalli & Kage would've been #11 & 12 if Den made the list longer. Both interesting concepts & extremely hype... up until they got released. Both pathetic in the story, could hardly catch any real wins. Both fake wannabe Akumas; out here flopping like Magikarps.
At least *Juni* got a Happy Ending, she served her Purpose long enough, But sadly for *Juli* though, she gets a really Bad Ending and that was pretty Unfortunate, I was actually Hoping her and *T. Hawk* would finally be Reunited again that was Teased in his Arcade Ending in SF4, but when SF5 came around she has become a Bison Doll once again.
Sean honestly shouldn't have even been *mentioned* in this video. The people who given him shit in the past legitimately don't factor in what was even said: He was a new up and comer in his first appearance. And even then he had a few impressive things to show in the extended canon promotional material - like knocking Pulk Hogan out with one kick. Then Capcom just slept on him for *over twenty years.* Him being weak should have no bearing on anything when they won't progress his story - what the hell else is he going to be? Sean still even has had charisma, the drip and the visual design to keep a pretty solid fanbase to this day. *Even* though practically nothing has been done with him in all this time. (Yet. It looks like SF6 will give him that return) I think that's definitely more of argument for him to be on the 'BEST Street Fighter Characters' list than anything else. Because how many fighters in SF would actually keep fans if they were slept on for over *twenty years??* Anyone arguing that Sean should have been here is outta their mind.
Surprise Necalli & Kage not on the list they both are powerhouses lore wise but their story should have been more worth it I feel Necalli might have a redeemable chance but not Kage.
but Kage is redeemable ^^ because Kage is a Canonization of the Evil Ryu Playstyle. Think about it. If Ryu masters the Path of Nothingness, there won't be Evil Ryu anymore, thus no one who really gets the feel of Evil Ryu, but there is Kage, who fills this role, but true his design quite sucks
Necalli was cool design wise, but story wise he seems like another evil Mayan character that Japan made character, happened before with other Mayan characters in other FG's but i'd love to see them back and redesigned to be less bland
Sawada & Blade are actual characters they have Street Fighter V profiles on the CFN site but they might not ever make an appearance in Street Fighter lore.
Falke to me is a boring character almost forgot she existed her story is bland she just someone Ed save from the who is just like him and they trained each other and now formed the Neo Shadaloo squad there is nothing interesting about her in my opinion.
They don't have much lore yet but I look forward to seeing Neo shadaloo with the rest of the team and what their goals are. Would love that in the game or through the comicbooks which is usually where we get the most lore for the entire cast, past and present.
There’s so much room for her and Ed to grow though. Story wise they have a lot of potential. Plus falke has an awesome moveset and is super fun to play with. Now you want to talk about uninteresting newcomers from v? Fang, necalli, kollin, Abigail, and kage are easily some of the wackest street fighter characters ever Lucia’s ok I guess. She’s basically just a female ken
FANG is a total let down as a character, i think I would place him lower than Rufus because the expectations of being one of Shadaloo's Henchmen is totally HIGH. Instead of being a total menace, he acted like a filler character, who should have been A MAJOR CHARACTER/ not a filler character. I mean you could have give this character a back story for Chun Li when her father died or Cammy before becoming a DOLL but nope, they all totally screw it up.
I think F.A.N.G is an example of "too many chefs spoil the soup". He is a: assassin, Kenpo master, master of poison arts, survivor, crime lord, comic relief, flamboyant, arrogant, queer vibes, loyal... and probably more, and it doesn't all come together nicely. Now if you took out some of those, and focused on others (a la his side story on Shadaloo CRI) things start to get interesting. I don't think he's a bad character. I can see him come back with a remixed story, or at least as a background character.
You make amazing points, Josie Rizal in Tekken is so fun gameplay wise but her story and many other Tekken 7 newcomers story is abysmal. Just a few sentences of dialog and no impact.
Tekken 7's Newcomers and story suffered because they wanted the story to revolve completely around the retirement of Heihachi as a character, hell even Jin is sidelined for pretty much the entirety of T7's story. So I can't really call any of the newcomers bad because of it.
@@bwareist Mostly all the newcomers in Tekken 7 pissed off the entire tekken community that's how bad it was. To this day people still are angry about who made it over who didn't. So that top 10 for Tekken can be all Tekken 7 characters or at least 5 lol.
@@Fate862 Speak for yourself bro. Half of the Tekken 7 newcomers got more love and a better reception than most of the post T4 newcomers. Especially Leroy and Lidia, who are considered some of the best characters Tekken ever had.
@@Fate862 Yeah I have to disagree with you on that one. Maybe lore wise they had no relevance to the story (but then again nobody had any story advancements in T7 except Kazuya and Heihachi, special mention for Akuma tho) but they make up for it in gameplay. Josie, Katarina, Fakhumram(my boi) , Leroy especially are dearly beloved
Fang had so much potential, when I first saw his trailer I was intrigued. I liked that we had a new villain and a character who broke out of the Street Fighter mold but we ended up getting was Starscream.
Abigail and Ibuki fighting over who broke wind is the most ridiculous thing I seen in games Abigail is the worse to be in Street Fighter the fact he beat fan favorite characters is another reason why he's hated.
That japanese comedy...you wanna see the most ridiculous thing in games? Watch the ending for Tekken 7...or the other tekkens but for some reason Tekken 7 had the worst for almost every character in the game, so stupid or literally nothing would happen. But again, japanese comedy for ya...
@@streetkombat6088 Yeah, in the novelization of the movie, it was stated he won the most matches out of any earthrealmer, so Art Lean, as little as we saw of him, is actually pretty formidable.
I’m pretty sure they’re a lot of jobbers there in KoF, but I’m kinda am eyeing on the midcarders themselves cause they’re always the casualty of being fave by most players except lore reality they’re aren’t. *excluding Team K n Team Ikari Warriors
If you thinks about how Tekken works... He is one of the worst characters they could bring from Street Fighter. In any Tekken version, Akuma would be a pain in the ass.
I think he is not bad but could use improvement. About C- or D+ on a grading scale. He is roastable for being emo, which I think is ok. I think he needs a moveset improvement, he needs to do Guiles playstyle differently or ditch it for something else.
We never seen him since the III lore and he's not that very bad, just still have a lot of mystery behind him. In equivalency, he's that WWE/WCW wrestler who has potential, charisma either joining once the roster but in the business, they had to cut his job off short too early due to *insert reasons here. He's probably gonna be back since he scored a 4./5 on the Fighters gen roster.
@@Saiyanryu I never really found Ash annoying. To me he was always supposed to be that Joker, opportunistic character who trolls everyone. I find Kula to be way more annoying
F. A. N. G. is a joke but he's the most deadliest of Shadaloo besides Bison which why Bison put him second in charge over Vega & Balrog who been there the longest.
Exactly.....he's deadly and the reason why fang is how he is because he was the last of his cartel when bison killed them off And bison took pity on him
Ryu is the worst Capcom character. He may be the star or the series but he's boring to play and has no personality. This completely outweighs his story for me. He's just a hobo getting into random flights with a generic martial arts movie "get revenge for killing my master" plot. There is nothing interesting about him to make me want to play him. Ken should be the main protagonist of SF. He is the exact oppose of Ryu. He has charisma, a personality, deeper backstory and connection to other characters.
You're wrong about saying Ryu is the worst character. I would've explain... But, I'm too lazy for that. I-I mean I don't even know if you're going to read this comment.
You see this is the problem with Street Fighter characters. out of Tekken and Mortal Kombat . Street Fighter characters actually got the best character designs and you can look and can tell they really have good potential to have great characters story arcs but Capcom make the characters lame cringy ASL the only character I truly like is Akuma. And what you said about Mortal Kombat is true Mortal Kombat got the best fighting game stories and not only that but at least Mortal Kombat and Tekken continues with their story unlike Street Fighter
Street fighter story is too complicated when you are not that invested into the series (SF 4 story came before 2 then 5 before 3 or whatever , like who they think they are : Star Wars ? ) should have made a linear series with minimum spin off titles
To be fair F.A.N.G. does something for the series it never had. A LOYAL second hand henchman. Balrog is only in for money, Vega only cares about beauty and Sagat quit. F.A.N.G. is the only person that is loyal to M. Bison. Plus consider how many things in SFV Story Mode happened due to F.A.N.G.
I couldn't agree with you more on Rufus. He was annoying on Sf4 and he was just plain insufferable of Sf x Tk. He's one of those characters who you'd just push the mute button on.
I always had a soft spot for the dolls, having to fight 2 opponents near the end of Alpha 3 was pretty unexpected and novel. Juni had some pretty interesting moves too.
I'd love to see a fighter like Sawada in a real MMA match. Running at the opponent like a grizzly bear that just watched his home team get a grand slam.
Fang, Sean, and Macaali (the guy with the dreadlocks) should have been more solid in the game, let's be real blanka got replaced by a female who only made one appearance in the entire series
I don't mind Fang as he reminds me of those Eunuchs in ancient Chinese courts who tended to be cowardly and rather untrustworthy, ass-kissing, scheming, etc.. his design also kind of reminds me of a much wackier version of Hsien-Ko from Darkstalkers.. butttt, I can see why people dislike him tbh. I feel they put so much on him but just didn't execute it to well.
I listened to this video for 1 min and immediately gave you a sub! Man you HIT on every single point perfectly! It's like you read my mind. I would have replaced Rufus with Hakan on my list though. Hakan made ZERO sense!
Fang is such a effed character because they tried to make a serious joke character. Like he acts goofy as hell one scene and gets clowned on then he randomly turns a woman to goo because he is a legit killer.
FightersDen you should do a Fix video for Street Fighter 2: The Animated movie on how to make it better than it already is, especially Guile’s treatment as a jobber
Twelve FANG Necro Rufus El Fuerte Abigail Blanka (yea i said it, fight me) Sodom (tho he originated in Final Fight) Birdie 3 way tie between Decapre/Juni/Juli All of these characters either have trash designs (in my opinion) or are just boring and lame/annoying (Fuerte specifically here). I didn't include any EX or SF the Movie characters because they aren't really canon. But if i would have then Sawada and "Blade" from SF the Movie would have definitely made this list, lol.
I must disagree on Twelve. He haves an interesting moveset and a backstory that could be worked upon. Rufus, Kage, Abigal and Necalli and Ingrid either had tools to become good characters but wasted it or already didn't make sence on the drawing board.
@@schemar17 Lore isn't the primary thing about the fighting games but its a part of the characters appeal. Would people like Scorpion nearly as much if he wasn't a demon from hell getting revenge for his family and clan? Also again. He could be expanded upon, he is a genetic experiment mutation, he could have something like him realizing what he is doing, interact with other characters. There is something he could do.
@@randomperson9799 dude that was a horrible example you just used with scorpion people like him because of his lore, his powers and his abilities. Twelve didn't have the same impact as dudley or Q but yes he can be expanded but until he is he sucks
Why you think they got rid of Ono, he was turning the street fighter franchise into a joke with stupid characters and unfinished games with missing content
Long as they don't Screw up this Time like what happened with SF5, while the Story Mode had some Moments, but it became a Trainwreck in the 3rd Final Act, I'm gonna keep my Expectations Low as possible, since it's now been Confirmed that "Street Fighter 6" will Canonically take place after SF3.
Minor details aside cause the DEVS went inconsistent on some minor things about Street Fighter that could have made the atmosphere a perfect tone. (Just look at Ibuki's backstory lore : the comics and everything with just looking at her cellphone***) the entire story from SFV damaged everything and that ending alone from Balrog at SF 4 gave me less hope they could recover from all the mess that it made as canon. but hey I hope they prove me wrong, they prove us wrong so the hype about this game is just as better as when it had should been.
Juli and juni were awesome! They had a unique special move in dramatic battle and they were throw in bonus characters for alpha 3 to highlight the dramatic battle mode. Far better than dlc decapre and expanded upon doll nonsense in later games. They werent fleshed out characters but far from the worst.
The story of Abigail is utter trash, and his personality is brain dead unfortunately. Wish Capcom did something to his overall existence, since the fighting style in my opinion was one of the more enjoyable ones in SFV for me.
They really should've made FANG sinister and vile (think more Hojo from FF7) and not goofy and stretched. He does have one of the best Theme tunes though.
I'd argue that BlazBlue has the best fighting game story mode, and I generally really like Mortal Kombat's "Game of Thrones, as written and acted by a cast of pro wrestlers" stories. Persona 4 Arena/Ultimax ranks above MK as well,, though those stories have the advantage of jumping off the lore and characters set up in multiple 100ish hour JRPGs rather than being confined to just fighting games.
From I considered who are the Lamest Characters in "Street Fighter" in terms of Story and Lore, here's my 3: Picks (in my personal Opinion): 1. *F.A.N.G.* (on Paper, he is a Good Example of a Villain Character which most Fighting Games desperately needs to Balance up the Roster since there are way too many Good Guys and Neutrals, But in Execution, He was done very Poorly) 2. *Evil Ryu/Kage* (Yes, I'm putting both in 1 Spot because their both basically the same Character, the "Dark Hado" Story Arc was a Cool Sub-Plot back in the 1st SF and Alpha Games, but Years later this Sub-Plot went absolutely nowhere) 3. *Abel* (Okay look, I don't want to be too Harsh on the Guy who was 1st Introduced in SF4, he is sort of the Protagonist in that Game while you play as Seth in the Arcade in SF4, his Rival is Abel himself, but afterwards his Re-Appearance in SF5 was completely Pointless)
Ingrid should’ve been on the list for representing one of the laziest fighting game, and randomly showing up in alpha 3 max to do jerk the Capcom Fighting Evolution director’s ego.
I would have put Hakan on this list. I have no idea what's going on with his hair/head and how it's connected to his moustache, his ultra combos are cringe AF, nothing notable going on lore wise. Just awful character. 4 was where the character designs really went downhill.
10/10 amigo perfect score right down the middle. And you are so right about SF 5. Almost all the new characters were either rehashed characters like Karin and Brodie; different versions of old characters like zeku , Abigail and meant; or more dolls than any SF game should have like Ed and falke and when they introduced a new character they were just forgetful like Laura rashid and necali. Necali is supposed to be the new big bad in this game and he loses to everyone and Just feels like a side character, you can remove him from the roster and no one would notice
I was exciting about Abby before he was released but they turned him into a stupid character (Story wise). He was a force to reckon with in Final Fight and some of the concept designs for Abby SF5 were interested. I hope the story will move forward and take things a little bit serious for the characters (story wise) for SF6.
The problem is Capcom, like Netherrealms, can't write a story to save their fucking life. So you get a lot of great characters design wise who look like complete tools and jobbers in story mode because they don't know what to do with them. SF6 and MK12 will have the same problem, I'm calling it now.
The characters i rated as worst in my post - i don't want them to see EVER returning, even if Capcom considers an "all-star dream battle" of sorts spin-off at some point with gigantic roster! I still think that the characters listed shouldn't appear even in THAT kind of game! Capcom has over 80 playable characters, that they can use for an MK Armageddon/Tekken Tag tournament kind of game and still end up with a gigantic roster of more than 60 characters, which might just be enough to edge MKA, which had a total of 63...
Sawada was in SFV story as well. Also, a lot of people are asking for him and a back story. 10 worst street fighter in terms of depth. You mentioned majority and I would add little nerdy chick in street fighter ex.
I don’t know SF has some other shitty characters that don’t get a lot of heat: Remy, Necro, and Oro SF3 El Furete SF4 Necalli SFV and now Luke People shit talk Ingrid though…at least her whole questioning canon things could be interesting and she’s never a jobber. Her scolding Bison for “stealing” “their power” (if memory serves) was hilarious.
Yep the "King Cobra" design was WAY better than what they ended up actually releasing, it's a shame the original character got changed into Rufus. They even gave Cobra's outfit to Ken, it's the alt 1 outfit with the fur.
I think Street Fighter is more like the blueprint of fighting games The impact, gameplay, schematics, not to mention the first lady of fighting games.... Chun-Li is that bitch!!!
