If we watching hits from 34 years ago in 1990. we'd be listening to music from 1956! I'm sure that if we were from that era, the late 50's, we'd have the same sense of nostalgia and connection to moments we'd lived connected to this music too. Nostalgia is the act of memories causing an emotional response. Anticipation is the act of hope causing the same thing. Keep going. It's worth it.

Crikey! From a UK viewer, some songs I very much knew of but it’s amazing how many songs leave the memory before being reminded of them in this video. I really liked the Jane Child’s song back in the day but had up until just now, completely forgotten about it.

@@thema1998 Wrong son. Look at the bottom of the screen. The top 10 should've all been #1 hits. The list's creator has an odd range of #1s and non #1s. Also, Stevie B's "Because I love you was #1 for 4wks. Making it the top song of 1990 when it hit that position in December. Finally "Another Day In Paradise" by Phil Collins hit #1 in December of 1989. Technically it hit #1 in the 80s and carried over. It too was #1 for 4wks. Don't believe me? Look up Billboards Hot 100 for 1990. I'll be waiting...

I remember beign bitterly disappointed that the Wilson Phillips song was number one for the year, particularly because of the, in my view, far more interesting songs below it: especially in the top ten alone.

The fact that Enjoy the Silence only went to # 8 ended the year at #66 is a crime Should have been #1 for the year Not that there are not many good songs on this 100 But Enjoy the Silence is by far the best song in that whole 100 Sorry- I’m just an over the top Depeche Mode fan Also- the fact that Enjoy the silence was only the 3rd Top 40 hit for Depeche Mode proves that every top 40 station program director from 1981 to 1989 should be kick in the groin very hard for their stupidity

Ehhh, charts just measure what's popular at the time. That doesn't always translate to longevity. Plenty of lower charting songs are more iconic than #1s.

@@marcofalzone6469No, the AT40 staff compiled their own based on the Billboard Hot 100, assigning points differently than the magazine did for the year-end chart.

@federicochang3249 5 месяцев назад
@@dougclark7077 Not exactly. Starting in 1990 they used the "Top 40 Radio Monitor blablabla something" chart for the annual chart, as they were piloting the changes that were officially made by late 1991... The chart focused on Airplay alone compiled by an automated system called BDS (broadcast data system) instead of the very inaccurate and sometimes "manipulated" "surveys". The official Hot 100 was a mix of Sales and Airplay...

Nirvana ????? Muhahahahahaha !!!!! This band was one of the biggest jokes of Rock History, the most overrated band of all-time. On stage, this band was TOTALLY unable to carry a tune (I know it, I saw them live in Europe back in 1992 !). Nirvana was nothing but a rock band for emasculated trendy-leftists and pansy-ass nerds. With hindsights, we can also say Nirvana was the very start of the whole "woke culture". And let's not forget the fact that Kurt Cobain was dominated by his wife who was physically stronger than him, which says a lot). If Nirvana had started in the late 60's, the whole world would have made fun of Kurt Cobain. And let's not forget another thing: since Nirvana became big, a lot of Rock and Metal fans turned to Country because they knew Garth Brooks was way more relevant than a bunch of pussies like Nirvana.

@MILUNGAO
@MILUNGAO Год назад
@@erichall4548 Spotify ?!? What this thing has to do with this context ? But to respond to your message, I never was a Michael Bolton fan (I don't even have one single album of him) but at least, he didn't need to commit suicide to be remembered (hellooooo, Mr. Kurt Cobain !!). And I never needed Nirvana in my whole music collection to pretend to be cool. If I want to listen some good grunge stuff, I'm gonna listen Alice In Chains and Pearl Jam. And during the first half of the 90's, there were much better Rock bands than Nirvana. Here are some names: Soul Asylum, Eric Gales Band, Material Issue, Jellyfish, Mother Love Bone, Warrior Soul, Bad Religion, Social Distortion, Thee Hypnotics, Baby Animals, The Screaming Jets, White Trash, Saigon Kick, The Almighty, The Wildhearts, The Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies, The Mother Station, Widespread Panic, Love/Hate, The Four Horsemen, Spread Eagle, Galactic Cowboys, Little Caesar, Asteroid B-612. And before Nirvana (between 1983 and 1990), there were a lot of interesting artists who managed to be in the charts (and even to reach success): The Black Crowes, Violent Femmes, The Pogues, The Cult, The Alarm, Love And Rockets (this band even had a "grungy" song called "No Big Deal" in the Billboard Hot 100), Edie Brickell And New Bohemians, Indigo Girls, 10000 Maniacs, REM, The Sisters Of Mercy, Hothouse Flowers, Transvision Vamp, Concrete Blonde, Gene Loves Jezebel, They Might Be Giants, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Omar & The Howlers, Los Lobos, Steve Earle, Lone Justice, Robert Cray, Mason Ruffner, Melvin James, The Smiths, The Cure, Melissa Etheridge, Tracy Chapman, Living Colour, Fishbone, King's X, Danzig, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Faith No More, Jeff Healey Band, Jason & The Scorchers, Georgia Satellites, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Tommy Conwell & The Young Rumblers, Treat Her Right, Blue Rodeo, Cruzados, Nuclear Valdez, King Swamp, The Dogs D'Amour, Fates Warning, Jane's Addiction, Drivin' N' Cryin', Raging Slab... This is called musical culture. But everybody knows it: curiosity and musical culture are NOT exactly the strengths of the Nirvana fans. Looool.
