In this video I use Stockopedia's leading stock screener to find the top 12 dividend stocks in Australia. Dividend stocks are valued in the investment community as they provide an income to investors which can often rival term deposits. Dividends are also a sign of a company that is profitable, has low capital expenditure needs, and is generally friendly to shareholders, which isn't always the case.
I made a video in the past where I also looked at the top dividend stocks. To get to this list of 12 I took a more measured approach by using eight different screening filters to narrow down 1800+ Australian stocks to just 12.
Filters used on Stockopedia's screening tool:
- Country: Australia
- Market Capitalisation: Over AU$100m
- Dividend Yield TTM: Over 5%
- Price Change 1Y: Over -5%
- Price CAGR 5Y: Over 0%
- Piotroski F Score TTM: 7 or Greater
- Alman Z-Score and Z2 Score TTM: Over 1.8
Stockopedia is a great tool for screening stocks and doing your equity research. They have many useful tools on their site which help you make the most informed investment decisions. Their database covers over 63,000 stocks, from the US, UK, Europe, Australasia, India, and Canada. Subscribers to my channel get 20% off their annual plans, so make sure to check them out at why.stockopedia.com/brentcole... using the code BC20 at checkout!

Brent thanks for compiling the list. Great videos and content! Since gold is on a tear atm. Any thoughts on which companies on the ASX might be best position to capitalize.

Thanks for the kind words and supporting the channel! Haha I've been watching the rise of Gold closely over recent months, I made a video just before the boom about a New Zealand trading platform for gold called Goldie. I bought a few grams and am up >10%. Also make sure to check out Silver too. I haven't looked at any specific Gold stocks on the ASX but found this article which may help. investingnews.com/best-asx-gold-stocks . Having a brief scan over these stocks, they've certainly done well this year! Hope this helps!

Very interesting vid, particularly the stockapedia tool. What are the fees and do you have a view on how it compare to the screening tools and available information on Market Index?
@BrentColeman
@BrentColeman Месяц назад
The fees range from about A$500-1000 per year, depending on what markets data you want access to. The good thing with Stockopedia is it has all the major markets in one place (e.g. NZ/AU/UK/US/EU), and has a much broader set of data than Market Index. Market Index also provides really light financial data, while Stockopedia's is much more in-depth and has useful explanations of each item for beginners. They also provide their own research and allow you to create your own screens, which is useful for investors that want to spend time researching stocks and finding the 'needle in the haystack' opportunities. It's certainly an investment, but for many investors it saves a lot of time scanning through annual reports. They have a 14 day free trial too!

@@BrentColeman thanks Brent. As a mug retail investor, mostly investing what’s left over after living expenses, I don’t see myself affording that subscription! Market Index and my no frills online broker platform will have to do. Thanks for your vids.

TBH I found most of the companies you mentioned had very poor payout stability . A lot of them could only provide 5 years of data at best . At best . ROE also not that stable on many . A few good years of NPAT is not enough to invest in micro cap companies . I was surprised that this was your list . I would not invest in any of them myself .
