I'm seven minutes in and it looks like Launch's transformation was missed. I'm very disappointed that the first character to become more powerful with blonde hair was skipped over.

I think the best way to explain Gohan losing his "Ultimate" form is that he grew so lax and unused to fighting that he basically forgot how to draw it out - that or his body couldn't handle it. It's also why they made a point in the anime that he struggled to go Super Saiyan against Ginyu-Toma. It's also possible it was a mental/psychological thing where he believed he no longer had it in him to naturally raise his power high enough to surpass Super Saiyan/Super Saiyan 2, so he went with those instead initially because he lost that confidence in his own potential. It's why Piccolo was able to coax it out of Gohan because he pushed Gohan to remember what kind of potential he really has. IIRC Gohan was partially scared of tapping fully into it because he knew his pride/ego when getting super powerful ended up ruining his initial chance to kill Cell and then later Super Buu, and he was afraid that would happen again if he tapped into his full potential once more. That's the best way to explain it at least. As for Blue, I assume they learned the fundamentals of it when they were in Whis's pocket dimension. In there, they learned that the trick to controlling their god ki was to not let any ki leak out of them. From that they could then transform into Super Saiyan while utilizing their god ki which is what Super Saiyan Blue essentially is - and it's because of this perfected ki control that Goku was able to use Kaioken with it in the anime. So one could argue they never were shown unlocking it because it wasn't a new form per se, they just had to learn how to attain perfect ki control when using the god ki they inherently absorbed/retained from achieving Super Saiyan God. After that, all they had to do was then go Super Saiyan. It's also why they can't go Super Saiyan 2+ in it (yet) because those forms revolved around maximizing one's power at the cost of leaking ki. So once they figured out that key component to utilizing god ki, they were able to apply it to boosting Super Saiyan with their god ki. And Blue eats up significantly more stamina due to needing to maintain that constant ki control so that's why they still use their regular Super Saiyan forms when they feel like they don't need to go all out.

Regarding Ultimate Gohan: I like the idea. I like that, after the series became all about transformations and additions, Gohan gets the ability to use his full power without transforming. I like the fact that his Super Saiyan power has been incorporated into his base form is signposted by Ultimate Gohan's appearance (his eyes are sharper and fully outlined like a Super Saiyan, but he still has black hair and black eyes). However, the power-up is unearned, it's wasted by the narrative, and I *really* don't like that modern Dragon Ball treats it like a transformation that Gohan can power up to and down from. So overall, it's mid. Super Saiyan Blue? Kinda neat concept, boring-ass design, completely wasted by the narrative. If I said it once, I've said it a thousand times: Super Saiyan God should've just been *THE* form for Dragon Ball Super. If Blue had to exist, Goku And Vegeta shouldn't have gotten it until the Tournament of Power, after we the audience have had time to get used to God.

45:10 - I disagree that you can't separate the two. You technically didn't need majin Vegeta to turn Vegeta "evil" again. That could have been completely character-based.

Here's how Turles could work- have the misfit minions come in for combos and stuff like the ginyu force does!

34:04 - I wouldn't count "fusion" as a transformation for the same reason that I wouldn't count "mecha Frieza" as a transformation (or one of the reasons, anyway): It's not self-sufficient. If you need something to be added to you from outside of yourself then I don't consider it a transformation. I don't consider Cell's forms transformations either, btw.

Royal blue was a fucking LEGENDARY moment. Idgaf what anyone thinks. Vegeta is finally getting to move away from being gokus little sidekick. He tried to do ultra instinct and realized it just wasnt his vibe. So he said FUCK that I'm gonna own this shit and do it my way. He fights for a reason and he wants to remember those reasons with every punch he throws, rather than thoughtless fighting. because he draws strength from it. Buu Arc Vegeta is best Vegeta, change my mind. He has a showdown with Goku, he overcomes Babidi’s control through his saiyan pride alone, admits that he loves his family, he hugs his son for the first time, he SACRIFICES HIMSELF FOR OTHERS, and he admits that Goku is (at the time at least) his better.

Final Form Cooler is unironically my favorite movie design. He looks so amazing.

Super saiyan Blue is so underrated. I personally love the form and everything we’ve seen from it. How can you hate Blue but love super saiyan when Blue is basically super saiyan with god Ki. The aura looks amazing, it has an awesome theme, Goku and Vegeta each have their own powered up versions of the form with Goku’s Blue Kaioken and Vegetas Blue evolution.

Here's also the problem with golden frieza, he's an old villian, we already know what he can do and golden frieza had a backstory of I trained for 2 weeks which didn't help it at all

My head canon for Golden Frieza will always be that it’s not an actual transformation but just a visual gag Frieza does to ape Super Saiyan when he goes all out.

So They're Always Praising Janemba, But Never Bring Up His Stupid Weakness: Calling Him Names

I actually got to attend a panel with Sean Schemmel and Chris Sabat a few years ago at a con and they did address the Goku Black voice dilemma when it just started that arc in Japan. When it came to Xenoverse 2 (since Black was a day 1 bonus) they were only told "evil Goku" and nothing more character wise. So the original Goku Black voice is what they came up with. When they actually saw more about the character months later then they debated on continuing with current voice or doing the Rose voice that came to be.

There is actually a difference between Super Saiyan Broly and LSSJ Broly in the new movie, not just in appearance, but in power as well. For most of the fight until that point, SSJ Gogeta and SSJ Broly were fighting kinda evenly. Then Broly powers up and loses the shirt, suddenly SSJ Gogeta's attacks aren't doing anything, and he's forced to go Blue in response.

Anyone else think that fake SSJ is underrated? It may be of literally no importance and is deadass a ‘fake’ version of another form bug holy shit there is something so striking to me about the fiery aura that sticks to Slug when he breaks his arm and the contrast of the blank eyes and black hair. Not to mention the eyes and aura selling the burning rage of SSJ far better than any form ever did.

Super Good Buu, Sigma Force combinations, Majuub, Nuova Shenron true form, Heroes anime transformations, and any game transformations is everything not mentioned

If you count Final Form Frieza, you gotta count Kid Buu, because both of them are just the characters returning to their original forms.

First and foremost I would like to attempt to clarify and relate to is the real understanding between almost record breaking historical epic memories of the 1st original super saiyan introduction and well where I honestly believe that true dragon ball fans saw the moment destruction of the super saiyan transformation timeline was more than noticable.

I'm glad for the appreciation of Zarbon (and to a lesser extent Cooler).

I just want to say I was always a big fan of Super Saiyan Rage. Trunks needs to be able to catch up in order to protect his own world (in the new one going forward at least) and I like how by observing Goku and Vegeta in Blue he was able to imperfectly mimic their god ki. Plus the fact that it combines elements of Ascended Super Saiyan and Blue almost makes it feel like an "omen" version of SSB Evolution.

Android 13 is my favorite movie villain design pre-transformation.

Honorable: TOPPO, Dispo, Bergamo, Ribrianne, Kakunza, The Robots from that universe which combine into that huge 'thing' ...and especially Hirudegarn (first to second form).

They literally showed the moment they achieved blue in whis's training though..

super saiyan royal blue would also be better if they wrote it be vegeta actually taking a step into the realm of gods and have the color be slightly more purple-like, so that every new transformation afterwards his aura gets more into that purple god of destruction color region

I know this is more of a podcast style vid with minimal editing, but I do wish the just slapped a single still frame of each honorable mention on the screen for anyone (like myself) who isn't the biggest DBZ fan, but still wanted to know what some of the forms looked like.

35:51 I 100% agree with this point, for me it's even one of the biggest problem of the ToP Seeing Goku literally *regain* stamina and power during a difficult fight, climbing each form of SSJ one at a time in a matter of minutes without any effort whatsoever felt like Goku was just too important to the plot to fail. He's a Saiyan damnit, not a freaking android with infinite stamina and exhaustion immunity ... Show him resting, getting a senzu or whatever, but don't act like the fused form of a Legendary Super Saiyan is merely a training dummy to toy with while waiting for the main course ...

I find it so funny that everyone forgot one of the most important aspects of Super Saiyan Blue: Vegeta perfects the form in the Tournament of Power, and is the first time Vegeta can do something and reach a higher power than Goku can. All for 5 minutes before Ultra Instinct comes about. Perfect Blue form is so inconsequential that literally everyone has forgotten about it.

Extra note to add into black vs trunks: I definitely believe that Xenoverse 2 made that last scene way better than the anime since this time it was all the heroes from other timelines helping trunks instead of the last remnants of energy from....I think was just earth. Correct me if I'm wrong on that last detail, but it felt a lot more believable since he was up against fused zamasu of all things with only ss rage (which didn't even do anything to help him gain any sort of advantage at all!)

List suggestion, attack clashes/struggles. As in when two attacks colliding (ie Kamehamea vs Galic Gun) or when one person "catches" an attack and tries to hold it back (ie Gohan vs form 3 Freiza)

Super Sayian Rage/Ikari is a pseudo god form. (as shown when Trunks was able to sense SSB Vegito as one must have god ki to sense god ki) While Trunks did get trained by the Supreme Kai (in both versions) he didn't have/get a inkling of what god ki is until his father introduced him to the concept. (which is why it takes place after that scene than sooner, its not just rage, though that rage is what is preventing Trunks from going full blue presumably) Another thing to keep in mind is that like Gohan Trunks is a hybrid but unlike Gohan he never stopped training. I have read the manga and I despise its version of events, (which is saying alot as the Future Trunks arc is my favorite arc) Trunks was reduced from the main character of the saga (which is actually named after him not Black) to a bit white mage. (Not to mention characterization is Toytaro's weak point in general but I digress) The only real positives I see from it is the extended Future Buu arc. As for the Sword of Hope which is only sorta connected, there are 3 things to keep in mind about the event, one Vegito greatly weakened Zamasu and was about to finish him off, two as a Spirit Bomb variant it has the rare ability to be super effective against evil (Thinking back the only other moves besides the SB and its variants with that feature would be the Stardust Breaker and Devilmite Beam) and 3 unlike the SB the energy was outright given without the need to ask. OK I done defending my favorite transformation, merry Christmas everyone.

I think Turles could work if you filled out his moveset with the other members of the Crusher Corps coming in to attack, like the Ginyu Force. Just have those moves do different things obviously. This also will double as filling the "I want henchman X from movie Y" requests.

Ironically, I heard "This isn't even my final form" literally seconds before starting this video, from Ai The Somnium Files. Did you skip over Garlic Jr's transformation, but talked about Manwolf? Majin is a technique or spell, and its not even Vegeta's, its Babidi's technique. I would say the same about Ultimate Gohan or Guru's power boost.

I guess I will address the elephant in the room. Perfect and imperfect cell are FUSIONS. There I said it. Cell fused with Android 17 and 18. Cell could not achieve the form by himself.
