Clarrie Grimmett breached 200 wickets mark in the 1930s before Fred Trueman was the first to 300 in the 1960s. Sir Richard Hadlee was the first Test Bowler to have 400 wickets in the 1980s while the West Indian Courtney Walsh landed the 500th in 2001. Shane Warne was marginally ahead of Muralitharan to 600 and 700 in 2005 and 2006 respectively. Muttiah Muralitharan became the sole member of the 800-wicket club in 2010 and has a lead of 223 wickets over the top active wicket-taker of the World Jimmy Anderson.
