^ Me too. Australia got nothin'. Gotta buy everything online and even then that's a massive hassle. Wish I could collect anime merch for my job too lmao
Those "Paper Theater" are hands down such fun to assemble/glue and are relatively cheap. Also the display cases show up from time to time on AmiAmi to avoid get dusty/damaged.
I really love collecting anime printed pillows too! or cushion covers! Some is nice in touch too and of course, theres DAKIMAKURAS. I personally really love collecting anime accessories too. Like accessories thats inspired from a series such as the super groupies ones etc. They are subtle yet tasteful way to show ur otakuness while trying to make LOOKS that incoporates those anime inspired items into like a lookbook for your daily life. Bring a touch of happiness to you as u go to work with your anime inspired watch etc. Feels like youre bringing a part of your happiness with u to work for encourgament
I love collecting charms but I just don't have the talent for displaying them as you do. I also have always wanted to collect Doujin, that is one of my favorite things in your videos, you have such amazing taste and pick up the most beautiful FGO art. I wouldn't even know where to begin. Thanks keep up the great vids.
I like putting 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles in poster frames. I like the jigsaw aesthetic more than posters and wall scrolls. However time is my enemy and my backlog just keeps growing!
Clearfiles are great when you have cats like I do. After they ruined two of my posters, I display clearfiles instead. Btw - I collect all those things you mentioned (maybe except for the papercuts) plus tiny gacha figurines & mugs. I especially love the ones that change when you put hot drinks in it. I also collect wall calendars - the images they tend to use are brand new, so I love to have them.
In the past year and a half I started collecting anime cels. I like that each one is unique and hand painted. With covid shutting down most shipping options. I slowed down on buying figures and switched buying cels since it's cheaper to ship.
I’ve mainly been collecting cels for the last few years too. Since cels haven’t really been used for 20 years now, they would mainly be of interest to fans of anime made before 2000.
@@ralphjenkins6291 Even if they aren't fans of older cel animation. People can still collect sketches, storyboards, and settei sheets for newer anime. These are used in during the production process. So you feel like your collecting a piece of that anime's history.
@@Robertb98765 True, but for me at least, owning a sketch (while nice) is just not the same as owning exactly what was seen on screen. The problem with cels is they are aging, and need upkeep to ensure they remain in good condition (they were never intended to last). Some collectors have switched to only collecting paper-based art like sketches for that reason.
2:44 omggg the FMA pin. I love it, FMA is my favorite anime and since the fandom is like dead I get so happy when I see someone who has something from the show or mentions it
I love this video. I started collecting smaller anime merch first but not figures first and now I’m wanting to collect more figures. It’s like a gateway into figure purchases haha.
Another amazing video 😁 Art books are definitely one of my favourite things to collect, honestly there are some I didn't pick up in japan and still regretting
Another huge one would be model kits. Gunpla is very popular ofcourse, but you also have lines like Megami Device, Frame Arms (Girls), Zoids, Figure-Rise and so on.
I’m not an avid anime consumer, I’ve only watched like three anime’s in my entire life. I don’t know what she’s talkings about at all when it comes to characters, but I love this channel now. It’s just fun watching someone passionate about anime and I like the way she’s talks
I'm a nerd, was a uni student, and love organization. so the clear files have been very useful. i enjoying seeing the pretty art while i take out my notes or documents i need lol
I actually collect a whole bunch of anime merch. I collect posters, clothes, figures, plushies, keychains, stickers, manga, you name it. Tbh, I don’t care what I collect, I just like having things from my fav animes.
One thing I didn't get for a long time were "muffler towels". They are basically these small, long towels that you wear over your shoulders like a scarf, I believe some also have inner pockets. I did some research and they actually have a historical connection to post-WWII: when European bath towels started being imported into Japan, they were so soft and cheap that locals started wearing them out as scarves in the winter, rather than using them as bath towels. So local designers started crafting them to be more scarf-like and now it's a national craft.
I never heard of those frames before, but I'm wishing I have they're so cute. I'm a huge fan of knick knacks and art (poster/clear file/etc), I love using smaller art as backgrounds for my figures. The struggle of wanting cute merch... when do you tell yourself to stop... when you run out of money basically. XD
love to see neso representation lmao - im a love live neso collector myself.. considering buying the ayumu all stars one but thats a mega punch in the gut to get now
After watching your video it made me realize and understand my type of collection I do love figure, nendoroid collection etc. but now realize I'm interested in collecting anime shikishi board, doujinshi books and other anime art books since I love seeing anime art and paintings and how beautiful they are aswell thank you for helping me see that 😊🙏
Thank you for making this video! It was interesting to learn all the different things my wallet can cry over… also you always look really pretty in all of your videos!
Casually mentions Trash Taste - ah, there is why RU-vid recommended me your channel 😄 Didn’t watch (figure) collecting content before, but now follow a few and live vicariously through the videos 😌
Artbooks are amazing! And I love CDs too, music is always good, I don't go a day without listening to at least one playlist, although today I have more mp3 and streamed playlists than CDs... And this video reminded me that I need to buy a new folder for my postcards, I use a simple and boring folder to keep them, I wanted a more charming one, but I'm not sure which store could order an anime-themed album for postcards and bookplates...
I used to collect keychains when I was younger. I have a collection of over 15 yo-yos, cards (I play a lot of Vanguard), and probably the most expensive are my gundam model kits 😅
I personally don't recommend collecting clear files. At most, they are stored out of sight and out of mind until its time to dig them out. Once you dig em out, you only appreciate them for like 5 minutes until they go back out of sight till the next time you pull em out. Compared to figures, posters, tapestry, and etc, you can display them and enjoy at any given moment without the hassle of digging and hiding.
A lot of merch I want is really hard to find or expensive 😭 I want some shikishi boards. I will look in pre-owned sections and mandarake And there are posters and tapestries I want but I'm thinking of getting the images I downloaded printed myself. Im also of thinking of buying an art book and cutting some pages out to frame but that seems wrong! In particular the Ryza art books. Those cute little frames has made me interested in buying some charms!
I still collect CDs although that's mainly because I still like owning music in a physical format that will play in nearly everything with an optical drive (but not the PS4, which surprised me) and less because of booklets. I'm trying to think of anime CDs I have that came with physical bonuses beyond the regular booklet with lyrics and credits; I think the 2-disk Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory CD set I have has some art pages and the K-On "Don't Say Lazy" ED CD single has a few CD-booklet-sized cards.
Acrylic stands are not cheap unless they are from China keep this in mind folks the exclusive ones run the same price as a figure 20to 51 bucks even in the cheap sites they are expensive I bought tons but they do run around that price and yess clear files are awesomeness I have tons
I wonder if you caught the video put out a few days ago by Paolo in Tokyo? It was showing the working day of a designer at Good Smile Company, and was fascinating to see.
I love posters but like u said their kinda flimsy, so I’ve recently started buying like metal anime posters kinda expensive but their super nice I got three from Displate :)
I like to collect rubber keychain charms. I'm trying to collect all the Karasuno boys from Haikyuu, but I got stuck when I couldn't find Narita and Kinoshita. Still need to get my hands on Asahi, too.
Great video! The world of merch really is amazing. Where do you usually buy shikishi folders or protections, if I can ask? I looked online, but can't seem to find any.
What do you call like, in universe items and objects? I'm most interested in that kind of thing. Having a little piece of the world/anime in real life. Like the watch in Fullmetal or the drill key in Gurren Lagaan
Okay I’m aware I’m late, but there are some pocky anime poster things- they’re in the background of the video, it seems to be a blonde girl in a hat? It says Pocky on top of her, so my question is where did you get that from??? I’ve been searching for it for like 20 minutes but I can’t find anything like it. Could you inform me where you got it from?? Sorry for bothering I’m just really curious. I love your content by the way, your the reason I collect anime merch and figures!
cool video, i love your accent! I wonder what are the more premium brands that do anime collabs. I know of "Glamb" (all the Trash Taste guys have t-shirts from them) and "Radio Eva". they have some great stuff, but it's expensive
I have bought Funko pop ,and wafer card, and manga, and then I ask my dad to allow me to buy trading card for my collection and because he doesn't allow me to buy high price merch.but I still enjoy buying them 😅....
In one if your other videos you had a keychain or mini figure you bought like a sleeping bag for, and I think you called them finger or pocket figure? Where do you get those?
I'm surprised you don't consider yourself much of a plush collector, it feels like you have s many haha. I love the way your display boards! Also, yeah how could Trash Taste trash clearfiles like that??? SMH.
