For this upcoming year (or possibly 2023), I'm looking forward to My Time at Sandrock's full release. It's a crafting rpg with some farming and adventure elements. The vibe is similar to a lot of Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons games in that you're revitalizing a town, but the focus is primarily on crafting and building things, which I really like. So far it feels like there's less farming than in My Time at Portia (the predecessor game), but I've only just started playing the early access version of it. I feel like it's important for these life sims/farming rpgs to have some sort of unique gameplay element. I'm pretty excited to see a few instances of that in the list featured in this video. It can be hard to create a game in this genre that isn't just essentially reskinning existing games. If there's nothing new to try or no unique story hook, it feels like I may as well just restart one of my old games. Even the games that look pretty identical to existing games have some nice new features and unique art styles, so I'll have to make a note to check out some of these games when they get released.

I'm a Kickstarter Backer of Kitori Academy and A New Leaf: Memories, so I'm very excited for those 😊 I'm also looking forward to Coral Island and Moonstone Island (...both Islands 🤔) I'm definitely gonna look at a lot of the others on this list, I never tire of the farming sims 😂

Awesome video! Thanks for really doing your research. I feel like I saw a lot of games I hadn’t heard of even though I usually keep up on the farming RPGs. I also love that these are going to be on consoles since that is what I primarily play. I wish you had a list of the games in your description so it would be easier to keep track and remember the ones you’re looking forward to.

Dinkum is coming to Steam as Early Access on July 14th 2022. You can can have up to 99 saves, so you can have different islands and characters. You can also craft multiple things at the same time!

@@channyein37 Here all of the comment talk about the "Upcoming" that might you don't understand. There's no HM : btn remake or something even there's no HM or SoS franchise on the video. And I just asked him did he understand what's "upcoming" means cause it seem he expected BtN on top of the list. Who knows? That's why I'm asking. 😴 One more thing I gave 1 from those 8 thumbs up, cause in the other side i agree that BtN is top tier farming game.

What I don't get is why do they copy Stardew Valley's design SO MUCH. Just because it's pixel art, doesn't mean SV is the only way you can design your farm and your game. The last one even has the house placed on the same side as SV, with the small road going up, main road to the right, same weed design, same tree design, etc etc etc. Geez. Loving and feeling inspired by something is one thing, straight up copying is another. They used to say "SV is a copy of Harvest Moon", but I played a bunch of Harvest Moon games (or whatever the name before/after they split), and while there are gameplay similarities, SV feels like a different game with different stories and completely different designs. It's also more challenging than HM and you know you're playing SV, not another game. In these SV copycats, EVERYTHING feels like Stardew.

Watch yourself. Stardew valley copied Harvest Moon. Real OG's know that stardew owes everything it is to Harvest Moon. LOL so actually all these games copy off of Harvest Moon. NOT SV.

@@itsanditimevarietyshow Way to miss my point, and I did mention SV-HV. Everyone knows about it. CA talked a lot about it. Congrats. I'm really tired of the old "Boohoo Stardew copied HV!!" Look at the last game and tell me if you'd think "Ooh HV graphics copycat!!". I'm not telling them to not copy each other, I'm just saying don't the exact same design and even building placements on their games. SV doesn't resemble HV at all.

@@pzillgy In fairness, some of these games look very similar to Stardew, but with a more 3D feel to them. Coral Island particularly gives me strong SDV vibes, leaning more into the beach theme which is pretty neat. (A few of them look exactly the same as Stardew but with a different plot hook. Very pixely and nothing particularly new shown in the preview. Those ones are almost certainly skippable if you didn't like the look of SDV). If you want something very similar to A Wonderful Life, the Story of Seasons games have a similar 3d anime-like appearance for the characters and settings to HM:AWL. A bit more modern and updated in appearance, but also very similar. The newer games tend to offer a lot more in the way of customized character appearances and being able to move farm buildings around. The game I'm playing now (Pioneers of Olive Town) allows you to dye chests and some furniture, which is pretty nice. Not sure if it's quite "HD" but worth checking out if you want to get back into the Harvest Moon Series of games. I'm also a big fan of My Time at Portia, which is about building/crafting but you can also gather materials, farm, and take care of animals. That one has a more open feel than the recent Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons games. I definitely recommend checking those out.

All my life I’ve been dreaming of getting more games like Harvest Moon & Animal Crossing... they were the only two. Then Stardew Valley success happened (disliked that game) and these clones followed, but most got no quality or true inspiration behind them. There are rare gems like My Time At Portia, but still high quantity low quality.
