I recently played the dragon emperor at 500 points. They had 21 models and I had 36. I shot out 7 of his models with shooting and he still managed to almost table me with his remaining troops. It’s really solid
I sware I read a rule in the books the other day that said terrain needs to be set up so that any model being played has a path between terrain pieces. This would drastically change the value of the Mumak War Leader. Now I need to scour the books again to try and find it.
Hmm let us know if you find something on that. Generally in tournament play, the TO would either shift a bit of terrain so movement is possible or you're moved to a different table but there's also no guarantee that the movement will be easy even if possible for the Mumak.
That's surprising to hear, whereabouts are you from? I haven't really heard of Bolg winning much of anything competitively, since he's susceptible to magic.
I respect the spider queen over witch king even if I heavily disagree. Just think the witch king is much more versatile and brings much more to an army.
dalamyr is easily the most fun here. which i reckon should weigh heavily when judging the best game model. both for the corsair player using him and the opponent when they finally catch the squishy git. plus he's both effective and point efficient. sad he lost out to azog who, depending on the situation, can be distinctly unfun for either player.
How, how is the WK worse than the spooder queen? WK is an OP utility, combat, casting hero and a tanky leader and he give harbringer and he's customisable and he's seen in 10% of all evil lists, while spooder queen is a fast moving model that dies to drain corage.HOW IS THE WK NOT BETTER THAN SPOODER QUEEN!?!!?????????? (Yes, I am your average sweaty mordor player)
The spider queen straight up wins you scenarios regardless of matchups... She is really good, maybe not as commonly used as the Witch King because she's very hard to use and it is harder to access her, some people don't want to play yellow alliances!
@@punchyMiddleEarth That's interesting. I've literally never had the witch king die, and I've played 40+ games with him, and some as an absolute newbie. I have also played him in all varieties and roles. I just don't think the 1 wound is so bad. Would love to know what Issues you've been having with that.
@@intothewestpodcast I'm running her currently (although very recently) with the Witch King and Shadow Lord and she does WORK. Pick the fights, compel the right people out and charge them, she'll do the rest
Sorry if this sounds really dumb, but why is the spider queen considered so good? Her stats don't look that great, and her only good ally is a yellow ally. I've also thrashed her with angmar and Mordor respectively. (Fell beings LL)
We explain this in the video, but essentially it’s the utility and being a great assassin for the cost. Ignoring terrain and moving 10” can catch opponents off guard. Broodlings can charge the turn they’re summoned, which means you can lock in traps easily, tag spear supports, and gives you effectively a 24” threat range, being able to grab objectives/disable siege weapons, tie up shooting, etc. Allied in she also gives access to bat swarms.
I agree on the witch king. It's a good model but abit too jack of all trades master of none imo. The witch king never makes me feel threatened like other heroes.
@hunsler1006 I personally think you need a free will or way to get a free dice to be or cast two spells a turn to be considered a top-tier caster. Witch king got all the important spells but no free dice, normal ranges, and casting values. I always found his magic adds more versatility to your army rather than being an outright magic threat.
@@metascrub285 doesn't the crown of morgul re roll them? That's as good as a free dice? Maybe not as good as say Gandalf the White. However he's nowhere near as points efficient as the WK which is why I'd probably put him top teir. Maybe it's just because I see him more often though 🤷🏻♂️
Charles raised it briefly, but man you guys criminally underrated the versatility of Suladan when comparing him to Dragon Emperor. The number of green alliances he has means that if I'm starting out thinking of a Mordor, Corsair, Far Harad or Serpent Horde list there might be a place for him as one of the best heroes in the game -- leading a supporting block to whatever my main thing is with the other faction or on their own. Both fantastic, obviously, but relative to their cost, the versatility is the decisive factor. Suladan is among the best heroes in the game *and* he's so versatile that he can feature when I'm designing a list across a bunch a different factions or styles as opposed to the Dragon Emperor, who, with the +30 cost is, as you said, nudged a bit more towards the legion to get the most out of his premium price. I'm sorry but if you have two absolutely stellar things, and one of them has a specific niche in which he can be stellar and the other can shine in so many different places, either as leader or supporting another faction, how the hell can you say that the former is the better? Oh, and by the way, the second guy is ~half the price. Madness. I know it's subjective, but worst.call.ever. ;) GW isn't going to send any of you a free dragon emperor for such shameful shilling for it :D
@@intothewestpodcast apologies, that is fair. We regret the error. However, you failed to persuade the others, so you have disappointed and let the Serpent Lord down.
