@@markllewellyn2824 None of the horses from 40 years ago would even beat average horses today. Like a Pele would never even be able to compete vs. Ronaldo or Messi. That´s why all the ratings are pretty useless. Arkle and Flyingbolt were great horses, no doubt, but they ran in an era where both where so hyped that the ratings had to be that high.

@@barbaradyson6951 yes that's right a great achievement but unfortunately best mate and arkle got injured and best mate sadly died on his comeback or they may have won more but that's life

@@eugenemccloskey511 yes, but, using the word " if" it's like saying if only this that or the other had or hadn't happened, but injured or not they never won 5. So everybody can pontificate all they want, GM IS the only horse to win 5 times plus a GN in record time which was eventually broken by Red Rum. Also the Cheltenham and National fences were different back then, plus timeform started in the 50s so how can you assess horses prior to that. Best mate died of a heart attack same as persian punch and my horse.
