I was always against dating outside a 5 year age gap personally, especially when it came to younger guys because most seemed immature, unsure of themselves and didn't have their lives figured out (which is fine most figure it out eventually but I wasn't interested in being anyone's mother). Then I met a guy 9 years younger than me through work and though I thought he was attractive I wasn't interested at first because he was outside of that age gap limit I set for myself, but we became friends and after a couple of years I had to admit I really liked him. His maturity made him seem older, he was confident and had his life together and he always looked for ways to make me smile and we have so much in common. Eventually I gave in and we started dating and now are engaged and the age gap doesn't bother us at all. He's 27, I'm 36. Met him when he was 23 and I was 32. Although 9 years doesn't seem all that bad when I see some of the other age gaps lol

Still a big age gap, but someone in their 20s is not the same as someone who is 18. Aaron was being pursued by Taylor (23 years older) - She was 41, he was 18. That age gap, AT that age is very problematic. Definitely a good possibility of taking advantage of someone who is still not even sure of who they are. There is much controversy over that relationship, since he was practically a minor when they got together. I think age gaps are fine, when people are a bit older and are not in their late teens/early 20s. Just my opinion.

I’ve struggled heavily connecting with, relating to and communicating with men my age. Relationships never work out and when it has it’s been short lived or extremely difficult. Then I met a man at a bar who I thought was only 10 years older than me, turns out he’s 19 years older than me and I never had such great conversation with a man in my life. I don’t know where it will go, but I know I feel happy, safe and excited for the future.

There a a few age difference in my family. My parents were 20years apart, my grandparents 31 years, my aunt&uncles 10-18years and my first marriage we were 4 years apart. Other than my first marriage all the other marriages lasted till death or are still going strong. As long as everyone is legally old enough age differences make no difference as long as the partners truly care for each other.

Age differences are truly nobody's damned business. That is, unless one of them is not of legal age. People make such a big ass deal about it. I was raised by parents who were 18 years different in age. It has never been a big deal to me. When I first started dating, I generally dated guys my age or three or four years older. But at 40, I started to date younger. Sometimes 2-5 years younger and sometimes 10-15 years younger. It really depends on the people involved and especially their maturity level. The guy I dated who was 12 years younger than me was one of the most mature people I had ever met and also brilliant. Age was never an issue for us.

I'm perfectly okay with a couple with an age difference who met as fully-grown adults, what makes me cringe is to learn about people who met their partners as minors, even as children (like Woody Allen or Di Caprio), to me that is predatory. Like people who said they "waited until it was legal" like Aaron Taylor Johnson's wife... The same goes to men who systematically look for younger and younger girls (like Di Caprio again, just take a look at all the girlfriends he's had)

Yeah, he likes 'em young, but at the same time, he's rich, handsome, famous, and talented. His dating history is pretty much a matter of public record. I don't imagine there's a shortage of young models who are hoping to be next.

I feel like age no longer matters when both parties are over the age of 25 since that’s when the brain is fully developed. You see a lot of Hollywood couples where the older party isn’t technically a pedophile but one of them is 19 and the other is pushing 60 which just doesn’t sit right with me.

I don’t know why everyone says the brain is fully developed at 25. I felt that even when I was 20, I already mature enough in most things. Five years later, I did not change much but if I did, it was due to the experiences and knowledge that I gained not sure if it is because my brain was supposed to be fully developed or not. If you are sure of something then you can be sure even as a teenager.

No, it's not wrong. My two cents are... 1.) Different strokes for different folks. Similar ages usually correlates to similar references and life experiences, but not always. 2.) Ultimately, the heart wants what the heart wants. Just because you think you want one thing, your heart may find something that you wouldn't have described when asked.
