Gallantmon vs Beelzemon was fantastic, not just because of it being the culmination of preceding events that led up to it, not just because of the emotional toll and turmoil that is going on in Beelzemon/Impmon, the Tamers, Takato, and especially Jeri, but because unlike the other fights here, it was a real back and forth fight. Most of the other fights here were one-sided, either the Digi-destined had the edge most of the time, or the villains were more powerful. With these two titans, it was back and forth throughout; one minute they were evenly matched, then Beelzemon had the edge, then Gallantmon unleashed the Lightning Joust, only for Beelzemon to absorb Katsuramon and gain even more power, it was as perfect a battle as you could ask for. I think they said it best when the fight started. Beelzemon: He's strong.... Gallantmon: This isn't gonna be easy...

Fun fact, lore wise, Machinedramon actually survived getting diced up by WarGreymon. Barely. Then went on to jogress with the also almost dead Kimeramon to become Millenniummon. Then there's a whole time travel thing.

Machinedramon did die, but his data was able to linger long enough to find Chimeramon and jogress with it after it had died. It was only able to linger that long thanks to the fuckery it had done to the digital world earlier.

I just got through Digimon Tamers, and Leomon's demise would send Jeri down a severe state of depression that the D-Reaper not only fed off of, but also captured her as a fuel source and sent an evil clone back to the real world with the other Tamers. At least Beelzemon in his rookie form made up with Ai and Mako before making it his mission to help Takato and the others attempt to free Jeri from the D-Reaper.

Got to mention, Digimon tamers, the introduction of the deva's via mihiramon. Stakes are lower than most of these above, but it was a fantastic and intimidating introduction of the middle arc, to the ultimate forms for that season, and to the beginning of Yamaki's transition to the "good side" with his lowest point and questioning of his own choices.

MagnaAngemon is seriously under-rated. Not only did he quite easily defeat Piedmon, he went against BlackWarGreymon and nearly defeated him - despite only being an Ultimate.

Well it took everyone's effort to defeat Piedmon but still, MagnaAngemon is a real badass, hope to see someday Seraphimon and Ophanimon fighting against a real hard foe in the future.

Exactly my thoughts, especially the WarGreymon vs Mugendramon one. Just super hype and also great mechanics displayed. Not just the typical "shield block into Terra Force", WarGreymon actually had to use his claws, even throw one of them, got a big metal pipe through his chest as well. Actually sick.

Man, Digimon always have some great and poetic battles. I still remember that battle between “Agumon” or whatever the hell that thing was against Darkdevimon. When the latter actually ate Tai, I actually freaked out. Holy crap, the fight was brutal. The fact it ending with my favorite Digimon of all time, Wargreymon, dealing the killing blow was awesome. :)

Gallantman vs beelzemon was definitely one of my fav of all time. Guilmon was my favorite partner digimon, agumon being a close second. Veemon being third. But beelzemon story arc and redemption arc was like no other. He could feel his remorse for all his done. Very powerful for a kids show. Even takado feeling when beelzemon destroyed leomon, nothing matched this intensity in all the series I felt. Season 3 was built different. I enjoyed it all the way to season 4 then I fell out. But I did enjoy the humans becoming digimon which I imagined they did due to the popularity of the mega evolution from season 3. But all in all definitely should be on everyone top5 fight for digimon series

A very underrated one is WarGreymon vs Mugendramon from 2020, episode 48 I think. Sick representation and extremely good and thoughtful mechanics used throughout the fight. Surprised it's not here, but it's also not in a lot of lists. In any case, 2020 had a lot of filler and the story pacing was a bit weird, but man, some of the fights and animations were super sick.

Omega Shoutmon debut should be much higher on this list, also, the debut of Shoutmon X7 should be on the list, you know that the stakes are high when a new Mega level is debuts and the villian just smiles after having his forces wiped out in a single attack! A lot of the battles on this list, are soulless, all spectical and no substance!

I agree. I'll never forget Kurata's whining at the time ShineGreymon BM approached him and he knew he was going to lose. It was one of the most enjoyable fights in Digimon because honestly, Kurata is easily one of the most hated characters in Digimon (though he was very good villain nonetheless).

The destruction of Machindramon created Ryu’s partner and the Dark Spores. Another thing I’ve learned from Anime is that when a fight happens it’s not just the blows to the enemy but the emotions behind them. This is especially true when weapons are involved.

While I would rearrange some of the rankings considering a chunk of them should be fairly higher, I’d say it’s a solid list; favorite digital showdown for me personally is #18 mainly because of not just Regulusmon being a very powerful yet terrifying opponent but also the battle animation/choreography throughout the fight gave me goosebumps, all of the other battles on the list are just as great also, always great to see the Digimon franchise getting more love!!! #WatchMojo #Digimon

As a fan of Digimon since the beginning, I couldn't resist watching Kizuna as the series finale to season 1. I just didn't expect it to tug at my heart so much. Knowing that all Digidestined lose their partners when they reach adulthood and lose their child potential, it really breaks your heart. I cried through that movie. It teaches a hard lesson, but a necessary one. It still hurt. What I don't understand is that at the end of Adventure 2, they had their Digimon partners even as adults. So, that concerns me for the Adventure 2 movie. Either they forgot that ending, or they have a big surprise for us. I just hope they don't make the movie so heartbreaking

For the record I agree with the number one pick. But you missed the point of Jeri’s reason for sparing Beelzemon she doesn’t forgive him at all. She just can’t handle more bloodshed on her behalf. That’s why when she does finally forgive Impmon in the last episode it’s meant to be a power close to Impmon’s story of redemption.

Even though it wasn't my favorite series, I can't fault #1. Amazing storytelling and character development. I will say I'm surprised Omnimon's debut is so low. Thinking back on it, I had a similar feeling to when I first saw the circular pan in the first Avengers movie.

The main problem I have with Digimon is that power levels seem to follow zero logic and simply serve whatever the plot needs in a given moment. The multiple tier levels of the "mega" form also stands to create confusion. Machinedramon is a mega level form, but can also digivolve once again to Chaosdramon which is also a mega, but like, stage 2 mega or something. Angelmon vs Devilmon is only impressive because it represented a specific milestone of development. His power level is so strong because it reflects that. In actuality, he isn't THAT strong. Why did Wargraymon one-shot Machinedramon in the early show so easily, yet in Adventure Tri, it took 3 mega forms to defeat him. Regular Wargraymon is no stronger than Phoenixmon.

Tbf with the multiple tier levels of mega many of the digimon media just make a stage 5 level called ultra example of ultra include armeggedonmon arkaidamon ultra and lucemon satan mode

Most greymons megas have advantage vs "dramon" type digimons with their specific weapons like dramon killer and dramon breaker, theres a reason Wargrey 1 shotted ; machine"dramon" and metalsea"dramon"
