I honestly did k4 and k5 using dollar store books cards etc. We now use the world map on our wall which is awesome. But also walmart has a lot of things for 88 cents that we get there now instead
You are HILARIOUS!!! Seriously, if you're stressed just watch Rebecca from Homeschool On. She puts everything into perspective. ALWAYS ALWAYS helpful. THANK YOU for posting.
You can actually find brand name items at The Dollar Tree. Mod Podge, BIC Pens, Elmers Glue, tape, scissors, etc. You just have to get them while they last lol
I'm very confused at the point of this video. If this video is to show how to save money, to do it "on a budget", then this isn't the right video to show this. A lot of the items she wouldn't even use. A lot of the items she bought already knowing they were bad quality. A lot of the items she didn't even know what would be purpose of using in a homeschool situation. A lot of the items, she indicated that they were disposable meaning that you would need to buy them repeatedly. Even if it is a dollar, it adds up after a while and why buy something with NO intention of actually using. If she bought like 10 things with no intention of using, she could've used the $10 to buy something that she would actually use.
Tags could be used for gifts you have baked or cooked, memory scripture verses, flash cards, add stickers for a game of memory. I love this video, I have laughed so much and can totally see myself having some of these same thoughts.
Or, use it in the CAR! We are always taking our clipboards and paraphernalia into the car - I’m sure i could quickly rig it to fit around my seat for the kid behind me to use!
I drew the lines on a dollar tree chalkboard and used it for my handwriting without tears chalkboard. I even put a smiley face in the corner. Totally copied it.
My dollar tree actually has a ton of standardized test prep materials, and math work sheets. It has been my favorite place to find supplemental materials while my son has been attending public school. I am going to be homeschooling, starting next school year (the sheer amount of supplemental requirements [because my son cannot keep up with their expectations, even with all the work I have been putting in with him over the years] is becoming too much, and robbing my child of his childhood... I know doing his lessons at home, and working on mastery in those hours would be a far better use of time), and I will be investing in the flash cards and manipulative, workbooks, etc that are available at my local dollar tree.
I love your channel and I loved this video but composition books are half the price at the Walmart. They’re like $.58 here in Hawaii so I’m sure they’re cheaper on the mainland. Just an FYI for you guys
The dollar store also has pretty big bottles of acrylic paint. Mom fail, though - I couldn't remember the third primary color and bought the wrong one. I wanted us to mix all our own colors at home. They also have pom poms for crafts or color sorting in a mini muffin tin for toddlers and beads for crafts. We also have some glitter glue for crafts from there and mini hot glue sticks. TONS of stuff for crafts.
FYI we did a battery science experiment we bought 4 $1 flash lights from wal mart, then dollar tree, ravoc, Energizer, and amazon batteries for the the flash lights a d turned them all on... the dollar tree light stayed on the longest... it wasnt as bright halfway through, but stayed on longer than the others!! It was fun and the kids enjoyed tracking it through the day!
I know this video is 2 years old, but I am just now stunning upon it 🤣 we use the little chalkboards!! We use them for my son to practice spelling on as a fun change. We have a dry erase board from dollar tree too and we just like them to switch it up.
You can create a store to work on money and budgeting (sticker store). You can also use it when you're getting things ready for donations, on responsibility/job buckets, clues for a treasure hunt
The spinner could be used to make math problems. Spin for the numbers to put in the equation. The tags! Totally do a fun store game project, they can make things to "sell" and the tags would make it feel legit. They could collect tags and add up total, then figure change...even tax(?) Another math game 😊
Paper clips, erasers, bingo chips, reward tickets, snack candy during school time, prayers - write them on on piece of paper and at the end of the day read them and see how God answered your prayer that day.
I actually have those chair organizers and they are working great. We do not have a dedicated homeschool room so we use our kitchen table. I got tired of bringing everything out every morning from our bedroom ( where my desk is along with all our homeschool supplies). I put my kids readers, pencils, erasers, scissors, and their handwriting curriculum ( we use handwriting without tears and it fits perfectly). Oh as far as the tags you could create a store with them and have your kids create a budget then shop using the tags. Explain unit prices and put that on them aswell.
Great video. My wife and I homeschool too. We are new to RU-vid. I just launched our channel a few months ago trying to build an audience before I go to Mount Everest later this year. Your channel is great! I subscribed!
I bought the chalkboards a while back. It was more like a rough plastic coating that didn't actually "hold" (?) the chalk to it (I can't describe that any better sorry). I really wanted them to work out. :( Use the tags in a lapbook! :D
Let me just point out that the pencils from the dollar store are horrible! When you sharpen them they break. Every. Single. Time. LOL I DO buy some of the supplement workbooks though. They are great for those days when my rad/odd/adhd child doesn't want to do school work. It makes for an easy day! I have to say I chuckled all the way through this..You are awesome:)
We buy the dollar tree markers for our cub Scouts and they work amazingly and last! I also buy all my highlights and dry erase markers at the dollar tree and some are name brand! The best! 😁thanks for your videos!
I have a Walmart cube shelf and I put tags on each bin to label. Because let’s face it kids will look through every single bin when they don’t know where something is at and not push it back in correctly...
Got those same wipe off paddles, who know what I'll use them for, they are perfect! I shared them in my Dollar Tree Homeschool Haul Video as well.... we all must think alike...LOL Thank you for sharing!
I usually buy supplies from Walmart or Amazon because I can usually get them cheaper at those places, but the dollar store does have some nice inexpensive flash cards, coloring books, posters, ect. Target’s dollar section can have some nice homeschooling resources too.
Girl! you had me laughing so hard when you got the clock (spinner) out of that bag. Just like us homeschool momma’s to get excited over cool teaching supplies. Thanks for your channel, and keeping it real.😁
The over tyre chair pouch is great when you are working with a young kid or an easily distracted kud. It helps to keep the treble clear of anything except what they are working on. I work as an in home therapist and i use it for my little ones to keep my stuff organized. I would use it for my old kids i work with but It ONLY fits on little kid size chairs.
Love it!! I'm from Grande Prairie and probably have the same Dollar Store as you guys have, would you mind telling me which one you were at please? I'd really love to get the mini file folders and index cards!!
The dollar store actually does have little clocks. From what I’ve seen they are on the same peg as the spinners. Also for the price tags -- I’ve had some teachable activities in our curriculum where you make a “store” so they can practice buying. I imagine that would work for multiple grade levels
Awh man! I can't believe I missed this live. Bummer. I went to buy luggage. Came home with clothes for my daughter. And no luggage. Watching this then going out again. Dollar store too.
Certain hole punchers you can move the things around to make it smaller size. I had one and loved it, til it broke. Also WalMart does sell paper that will fit in there
For the small binders, look at Target for paper refills. Sometimes they have it in the dollar spot section, but my Target has the small paper and smaller dividers in the same aisle where you can find regular loose-leaf paper. The paper is already hole punched too!
Rabecca Witzke bummer.. that stinks. I didn’t realize that. You can order from the Target dollar spot online, but I don’t know if they ship to Canada or not.
"It just felt right, so I bought it." 😂😂 "Could you use it? Yes. Will I? No." 😂 Oh my! Definitely laughing out loud crying over here. You're my favorite!
danielle Avila Thank you! I went to get them and they are really cheap and very useful. I went to Staples for something else and the same quality cards were way less affordable. Thank you for another great video.
