My favorites are Bolt Thrower, Motorhead, Carcass, Budgie, Grim reaper, Tygers of Pan Tang, Queen, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, The Who, Zeppelin, Sabbath, Rainbow, Slade, Jethro Tull, Cream, Uriah Heep, Girlschool, Godflesh, Skunk Anansie...that's probably about 20. A lot of great bands from England. Love the Animals too, cheers 🍻
Johnny Z! I know you fought the urge to put Iron Maiden №1! 😂 awesome list. Yeah, Def Leppard deserves to be on it. Their early albums are awesome. You're right! Diamond Head needs more love! Killer video! Cheers, my friend!🤘🏼🍻
Maiden are always the sentimental favorite! Early Def Leppard has aged really well… I can’t stand the direction they took after the first few albums. Cheers bro! 🍻
Nice to see some love for Diamond Head.... you named them nearly all, but here are some honourable mentions, worth checking out: Satan, Angelwitch, Tygers of Pan Tang, Sabbat (Dreamweaver!) and Hell.. great list anyway
Great picks! Lots of underrated bands here. Budgie should have been much bigger. I didn't hear Xentrix until their last album came out in 2022... then I had to go back and listen to their classic stuff.
A few here I've not heard of, I'll check them out, one band I would definitely add is Tygers of pan tang, definitely a band for the iron maiden and diamond head fans.
My top 3 are 1) black sabbath. 2) judas priest 3) iron maiden . Seems like alot of people put maiden over priest. I love both bands, but i would always have priest over maiden . Ive seen them togther a couple times in early 80s and seperately a million times. Priest is better live and the better band. Both classic and great, though!
Isn't it odd how most British (including me) prefer the early moody Marsden line up of whitesnake and a lot if Americans say the 1987 album is their best, I prefer all the original versions of their songs, I think they lost something when David poodled up his hair and dyed it blonde lol.
I think the hair metal era of Whitesnake was definitely a calculated change to appeal to the North American market. I like their early stuff too... I just wouldn't call it Metal until they made the change to appeal to the mid 80s, MTV era crowd.
If you wanna hear some great British Speed Metal then I highly recommend you check out the band Blood Money. they have 2 albums. the album Red Raw And Bleeding and the album Battlescarred both are amazing.
Man, Johnny, I cant believe how low you ranked Def Leppard! At the same time they weren't really Metal, either. I guess they dipped their toes in it a bit with their first 3 albums. So, it does make some sense. I think Ozzy should be higher up the list, though. Great list, man!👊🍻
Tough list to rank… it changes a lot and I still left out a ton of great bands. Ozzy’s solo stuff definitely could’ve been higher… his work with Sabbath had to be #1 tho. 🤘
I gotta shout out “Satan”. Their classic albums are perfect and defiantly a huge influence on thrash. Now today they are putting out arguably their best work including their last album in 2022. If they had a different name back in the day they would have been huge
I totally thought you'd put Iron Maiden first lol which though I agree with Black Sabbath at 1, I wouldn't argue too hard against Maiden lol This might be a hot take or whatever but I really don't think Def Leppard was ever a metal band, even those first two albums I associate more with being rock albums. They just happened to be a part of that NWOBHM movement and have been labeled metal because of it
I was torn between Sabbath and Maiden. I love Maiden more, but I think Sabbath had to be #1 on this list for pioneering British Metal. Def Leppard’s early stuff definitely walks the line between rock and metal… that’s my favorite era of the band, so I wanted to give them a mention. I might make a sequel for British Rock bands… but between Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Beatles, Stones, etc… I might have a mutiny in the comment section on my hands lol
@TheCDGuyJZ I always considered Sabbath the pioneers of metal, though I myself prefer Priest, Purple, and Maiden. And yeah i imagine you would lol The Beatles are the logical choice for #1 though I love Zepplin a little more. The Stones of course are right there and so is pink floyd, even though I'm not a fan, pink floyd have a pretty vocal fan base I've noticed lol
@@themindseyecmh Yeah no matter what order that Rock video is in, I'm still going to have some angry fanbases in the comment section. I should be used to angry fans by now... after all I'm reviewing the new Falling In Reverse album this Friday lol
I could go either way… Zep were definitely crucial to the formative years of Metal. I think at the end of the day, everyone’s definition of what is and isn’t Metal will differ. I’m planning a British Rock bands ranking, where Zeppelin will obviously be very high on the list.
