Yes Sacrifice Soldiers Of Misfortune is definitely on the top 20. It almost is completely forgotten though. OMG Overkill's Horrorscope is so great and I'm amazed someone else besides me puts it in there. Everyone thinks the previous original lineup albums are great but they pale to Horrorscope.
Here's my list: 1. Metallica - Ride the Lightning 2. Flotsam & Jetsam - Doomsday for the Deceiver 3. Metal Church - Metal Church 4. Megadeth - Rust in Peace 5. Celtic Frost - Morbid Tales 6. Slayer - Show No Mercy 7. Anthrax - Fistful of Metal 8. Destruction - Infernal Overkill 9. Kreator - Pleasure to Kill 10. Sodom - Persecution Mania 11. Sepultura - Schizophrenia 12. Exodus - Bonded by Blood 13. Overkill - Feel the Fire 14. Testament - The Legacy 15. Razor - Evil Invaders 16. Dark Angel - Darkness Descends 17. Whiplash - Power and Pain 18. Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death 19. Demolition Hammer - Tortured Existence 20. Rigor Mortis - Rigor Mortis
Excellent picks Mark. Good to see some more recent bands featured in your list. With you on Arise and Rust In Peace, both are absolutely flawless. Cheers mate
Interesting #1 pick for sure. I would have went with Master since it has a lot of nostalgia for me since that's how I discovered "thrash metal". Just happened to catch the title track late one night listening to Ga Tech college radio station in '86 and that changed my life. Before that I was all Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Priest & Maiden! (which I still love) Thanks for turning me on to Enforced they are awesome!
@@ramessesvivivi no problem. Enforced kicks ass. They just released an Ep today as well. Ya. You can’t go wrong with Master of Puppets or Ride the Lightning for Metallica. They’re both number one. Cheers
I know a lot of thrash, but some of these bands I'm unfamiliar with. Now I got some of discographies to dive into. Thanks Mark. I'm glad to see Anthrax so high on your list. Out of the Big 4 Anthrax doesn't seem to get as much love as the other three.
Both great albums. I find myself listening to Divine Intervention a ton these days. Dare I say it's a bit underrated. Dittohead is a killer track. The great Paul Bostaph from Forbidden on drums was a solid replacement for Lombardo imo.
Just my opinion, but I think the fact that had some recent stuff, shows how much you like thrash. Like how you dig groove metal. You’re just a through and through metal fan.
Great list Mark. I think I'll revisit those Havok and Power Trip albums tonight as it's been awhile. Admittedly my list might be a little too "old school" but here it is: 1. Megadeth - Peace Sells...But Who's Buying 2. Megadeth - Rust In Peace 3. Testament - The Legacy 4. Metallica - And Justice For All 5. Heathen - Victims Of Deception 6. Slayer - Hell Awaits 7. Kreator - Terrible Certainty 8. Sepultura - Beneath The Remains 9. Dark Angel - Time Does Not Heal 10. Morbid Saint - Spectrum Of Death 11. Demolition Hammer - Totured Existence 12. Anthrax - Spreading The Disease 13. Xentrix - Shattered Existence 14. Cyclone Temple - I Hate Therefore I Am 15. Sodom - Tapping The Vein 16. Exumer - Possessed By Fire 17. Protector - A Shedding Of Skin 18. Exodus - Fabulous Disaster 19. Overkill - Horrorscope 20. Coroner - Punishment For Decadence
Good list but it's hard to mention some of them as "greatest". I think you are a pure crossover fan :)) Most of the choices are crosover. By the way, It is good to see that you put Ride the Lightning to NO.1 because I also think that it's the best Metallica album.
@@prowler849 I have power trip and enforced that are classified as crossover thrash. Havok and Warbringer are not crossover, more new wave of thrash. I also have some death thrash in there as well.
My pick for #1 is Morbid Saint - Spectrum Of Death. Sacrifice - Soldiers Of Misfortune 🤘My favorite Sacrifice album. Bought a Soldiers Of Misfortune long sleeve t when I saw them back in 09. Still fits lol. Vio-Lence - Eternal Nightmare is another gem. Sodom - Agent Orange is my favorite by them. My #2 album is Coroner - Mental Vortex. I could go on forever about Thrash as it's my favorite genre/sub genre of Metal.🤘
@@MetalNeverDieswithMarkA Love Power Trip. Sucks that Riley is no longer with us. That said NO Thrash Metal album tops Morbid Saint - Spectrum Of Death. Check out the song Damien. Unrelenting, Brutal Thrash.🤘
Sacred Reichs first 2 albums need an honourable mention at least. Anyone who loves thrash metal needs to hear Death Squad and Ignorance on their Surf Nicaragua/Live at Eindhoven EP
@@MetalNeverDieswithMarkAyes that’s the album I’d go with if I had to pick one but the American way has some great stuff on it. I think Wiley Arnettes lead playing is excellent on that album.
You know I’m not much into thrash metal myself, but Ride the lighting is indeed a masterpiece, that’s for sure, along with Reign in blood. For me, nothing beats these 2.
