No one ever talks about Reservation Road. Such an intense, fantastic movie. And Joaquin Phoenix nailed his role in that one. I wonder if I'm the only one who loves that movie so much?
Watched Napoleon last night in a Imax theater. There is a scene in which he holds his newborn son. You feel the unconditional love through his tears. He humanized the emperor.
More Joaquin. The best Hollywood actor for me. My favorite image is also the Master. And I love almost every image of him. Of the characters, I like the Abbot, Commodus and Joker the most
Ok, obviously, his portrayal of the Joker was unique (and by far the most memorable part of a mediocre film about the Joker), but so were the performances of previous Joker actors who had already made that comic book character extremely popular. And in my humble opinion, none of them became the Joker to the degree that Heath Ledger did (and thank God they didn't, since Ledger couldn't escape the insanity of his character anymore and committed suicide 😰). ...Again, no disrespect to Phoenix whose Oscar I had demanded eversince his powerful portrayal of the ruthless Commodus in _Gladiator._I mean that was his big break and he scored landed every nomination out there right away! He also took my breath away in Walk The Line, The Master, Her, Mary Magdalene, Inherent Vice, and I can't wait to see his depiction of Napoleon Bonaparte. God, that dude is versatile!!
I'll never forget leaving the cinema after Joker. Everyone was dead silent, trying to process what they had just seen. That's all thanks to his chilling performance.
Joaquin Phoenix did an impressive on his performance as Arthur Fleck/Joker. ‘Joker’ is already my 2nd favorite live action DC movies of all time. ‘Joker’ won 2 Oscars, including “Best Actor.” I am so excited to see the sequel, starting in October 2024. 🤡
I would t even say he’s remembered now for the joker, because he has so many great performances out there. Obviously it’s his most popular but even joker 2 will probably be more memorable since he’s singing again
His greatest performance wasn’t even on this list. What?!? His turn in I’M STILL HERE should have been number one because of the sheer dedication to the role. He made everyone think he went crazy and committed to the role publicly as well.
Ladder 49 was such and underrated film the acting performances by the whole cast was immaculate but if I had to pick my top 1 for Joaquin it’s gotta be walk the line
I don't have time to watch it now, but hey, if Gladiator isn't in here, I am not watching this! Phoenix should've won his first Oscar then, but like other (unique and unconventional) talents, he wasn't in the exclusive Academy club at that point. Four nominations, but wasn't until he played a big pop culture character that a dozen first-class actors had already made insanely popular (most notably the late, great Heath Ledger), which got him the long overdue recognition. Don't get me wrong, his Joker was excellent, but so were at least four others he had given before. I guess in Hollywood, you really get the most praise for the character/movie that sells the best to mainstream audiences. 🤷🏻♀️
Im 35 and have only seen one Joaquin Phoenix movie and that was Joker. I thought it was pretty good despite it having almost nothing to do with the comics.
Yeah, I can see him pulling it off. There have been a number of portrayals of Bundy already, but there have been even more portrayals of Dahmer, and Evan Peters still knocked it out of the park.
Great list, thank you. For me so far, the Master is his best performance. Joaquin is the greatest actor of his generation, IMO. So many other great choices in this list also.
SO sad for both Joaquin AND Heath Ledger too for that matter to be up against not only each other but Philip Seymour Hoffman for the Oscar back in 2006 ... all 3 of them deserved that Oscar!! And THEN to come up against Daniel Day-Lewis in 2012!!🤦🏻♀ I think just about any other year he would have won both those Oscars!!
I fast-forwarded to The Joker and stopped watching after you were done talking about it. Only movie of his I've seen and I no longer watch movies so I guess I'll never see any of his others.
Well that's too bad, Joker was good but , more mainstream movie goers gravitate towards it. You should check out some other films on this list, I doubt you will be disappointed. Open your mind a little bit.
2020 Oscars Best Actor should have been Best Actor Antonino Banderas Pain And Glory Leonardo DiCaprio Once Upon A Time In Hollywood Noah Jupe Honey Boy Choi Woo Shik Parasite Taron Egerton Rocketman Winner Antonio Banderas
Joker more people should have took more seriously. Of course people did but after it came out I found people still going and being rude to me. I am blessed with so much kind people however. I pray those people will find God and be nice. I do not agree with violence which I know is in the movie but if we are not careful and mean someone dangerous could go on a mass shooting and WE DON'T WANT IT WE ARE TIRED OF INNOCENT LIVES TAKEN. We need to seriously be respectful of another and see people as they want to be seen. Ultimentaly we all need Jesus. Hopefully the new Joker will teach more people with them actually listening. And if your a Christian that is blocking people on social media who are nice to you or blocking on something else.... You need to get right with God.
Nobody is perfect. Like him or not. Joaquin Phoenix is a good actor and a decent guy, indeed. 👍 While the new Napoleon movie may not have been the greatest, the storm of new American & British content on him here on RU-vid makes up for it 😂 Joaquin Phoenix was far too old to play Napoleon. How Ridley Scott and Joaquin Phoenix managed to get Napoleon so wrong despite literally having so much knowledge about him is insane. Napoleon, is the Successor of the French king Louis XVI and Louis, humiliated the British Empire in America and in Europe and handed the British their butts. The French defeated the British in America and gave the American Revolutions Victory over the British. That gave the American colonists Independence. And the Brit Ridley Scott hates that!! Napoleon review: Ridley Scott and Joaquin Phoenix Deliver a Film that works better as a comedy than a historical Epic.
Answer, hypothetical BS! So sick of you haters always trying to compare these lovely talented brothers and try to downplay & disregard Joaquin in the process. River's death was a tragedy that no doubt left a huge void in the film world and we always wonder how far his career could have gone, however life goes on and Joaquin has proven to be massive and respected talent in his own right.
Joaquin Phoenix, just like the joker, is overrated. He gets talked about because he’s a “ method actor” and does weird shit for rolls. Sorry not sorry.🤷♂️🤷♂️
@@melaniep6964 it’s hating because you don’t agree with it got it. Doing weird shit on camera doesn’t make you a great actor. Him and Jared Letto are the same thing. Ive believed he’s been overrated since gladiator, and he only gets talked about because he has a family name.
@@Grayhound19 Well that's your opinion but it certainly ain't a fact. You are a hater. What are you doing with your life? It is funny people come to watch these videos of people they don't like just to complain. LOL and use the same ole cliched terms of "overrated". Carry on it if makes you feel better. He's' just gonna keep living his life, advocating for animal rights and the environment, making his movies and his fans are gonna keep loving him for it.
@@melaniep6964 sounds like you got a weird obsession letting someone’s philanthropy dictate how you judge their performance. I didn’t even watch it just left a comment for people like you to have melt down lol Joker is too long and boring and just like everything else he does his overacting never allows you to immerse yourself
