Great video. I found a burgess postcard in a $1 box at a postcard show and sold it in a day for $350. It was of a meadow in Virginia.😊

This video was awesome and eye opening. I mostly just collect, and only have about 10 postcards for sale but am feeling the need to look thru my collection as I learn from you. Thank you for your great videos!

Thank you for another great video! I alway learn so much. Ive been selling postcards a couple of years now. My best was a RPPC from China. Bought at an antique store for 1.00. I put it on auction and it ended at 787.00. Its so fun treasure hunting!

Wow that’s awesome! Those early China can go for a lot. I left them out of this video since I was only focusing on the states, but I saw a lot of them when I was researching.

Awesome video as always Daniel. I always enjoy your content. I haven't sold cards anywhere near those prices as of "yet" but I'm working my way up. (LOL) Sold two recently for very good money. One for $34.00 and the other for $55.00. Both cards I acquired for only .10 cent each (in lots.)

Thanks Ken! That’s great, yeah it is very very hard to get cards that sell for $100+. My goal is to sell at least one a month that’s over a hundred.

Thanks for a great and informative video. I am just starting to learn pricing on the better postcards, do you suggest doing best offer or should I go with my gut feeling if I don't see any other similar or same ones listed.
@mailseum
@mailseum Год назад
I do it based off whether or not there’s a price history for an item. If there’s at least a few sold comps, I don’t usually turn on offers. If I’m pricing something more blindly and putting a higher price on it, I will turn offers on.

Informative video, thank you. Question…The large money ($100 on up) realized for those cards, are they listed as an auction or were they priced high like that and perhaps accepted offers? Thank you. Look forward to other vids.
@mailseum
@mailseum 9 месяцев назад
I would imagine that most of these are auctions because of the crooked numbers, however the data source I used only has the price and not whether it was auction or fixed price. It’s possible to get great prices using either - I’ve sold more than a handful of postcards for over $100 with buy it now pricing.

Highest ebay sale was a Banjo that had a famous artist inlay. I don't remember details but the Banjo needed a lot of restoration. I listed at 999.99 and it sold within 20 minutes, I knew I under priced it then. That was about 10 years ago. A real fluke because I received the Banjo free because it was in terrible condition. I was just gonna sell parts and just decided as a dream amount to list at 999.99. I figured I would get offers for less, then wamo it sold.

Thanks for your great informative videos. I will soon be setting up a postcard shop on ebay and am wondering whether postcard collectors tend to favour the shops they already know and trust over new starters, or if they don't really care so much as long as the postcard is what they're looking for. I'm not sure whether to hold back on listing postcards I may believe to be of some value until I've built up a bit of a regular client base, or just go for it and list the better ones right from the start. Also, I'm in the UK and have US postcards to list, but am not sure if US collectors would opt to buy from an international seller. I guess I will only find out by trying, but if you have any suggestions, I would be very grateful. I look forward to watching more of your videos. :)
@mailseum
@mailseum Год назад
Customers don’t really care about the seller, just the postcard, so you’ll be fine! If you can offer inexpensive international shipping that will help tremendously (ship in a letter envelope for a couple dollars). I sell internationally pretty frequently even though I have 99% US postcards. I don’t think you’d have much trouble finding buyers in the US, especially if you have more unique postcards.
@happybunny1329
@happybunny1329 Год назад
@@mailseum Thanks very much for your advice. It's reassuring to know that I can just go ahead and list what feels right to me. I'd love to sell to US customers, so I'm going to do some research on my cards before I list them to find out more about their history. Your videos have already been so useful, and I still have some left to watch. :)

Do you promote your listings? What do you think of promoting listings for postcards?
@mailseum
@mailseum Год назад
I do! I think unfortunately it is almost necessary when selling postcards. I’ve experimented with 0% and lower percentages and I’ve tried searching for my items on eBay and can’t find them. I promote at 6% and just a little over half my sales are organic, so my effective promoted rate is under 3%.
@WickedMTG
@WickedMTG Год назад
@@mailseum That's really helpful. I thought that might be the case. I was experimenting with search as well, and concluded something similar.
