For some of the movies on this list I'd say the reason they failed wasn't because the lead(s) changed but more because they were just bad movies or in some cases what made the original movie so good was either done to death or people's tastes had changed by the time they finally made a sequel.
@@shift7808 Tell that to Lucasfilm. They've put a non stop stream of bombs ever since Disney bought them out. And they still keep getting chances. And let's not forget about the DCEU which has never been good and the only reason it isn't stopped is because DC is too stubborn to quit.
@@aliastheabnormal I think the keyword here is "bombs", and the DC universe failed long ago. They're basically cutting their losses at this point, and trying to salvage what they built up. Their FRANCHISES are 100% failing and reaching all time lows in popularity.
Most sequels that came out during the early/late 90s or 2000s were just sad/shameful attempt at trying to milk a film that shouldn't have been continue.
To be honest, I love Tron's sequel. The special effects and the soundtrack are my absolute favorites in a movie. I know there will be some controversy, but I will say that I always wanted to have a light cycle after watching it.
Imo the main guy just wasnt likable. He basically was a doomer. Sure, you can write the script that way, but its hard to pull it off. A soup may be 95% perfectly made (Not that Im saying Tron 2 is ^^), but if you mess up just one ingredient like 10 instead of 5 gram salt, its ruined.
@@PiratDunkelbartI got into the Tron: Uprising series. But apparently it wasn't well liked by the audience either. I loved it tho. Well up until the end
I'll give you Tokyo Drift but I disagree with Tron. Tron's problem was that you didn't care when Quora makes it out. Aside from the voice over that talks about what could happen that was it.
Haven’t seen the Jaden Smith one at all, know only by The Birdman’s Everything Wrong With CinemaSins video. That said, Hilary Swank’s Julie was better than Jaden Smith’s character.
@@theoriginalThud the big problems : #1 : it wasn't in JAPAN #2 : it wasn't KARATE but a type of KUNG FU but he only learned basic style ( thanks to wire work it looked cartoony ) where the power & strength is evenly distributed throughout the body making every part have equal strength basically turning the entire body into a weapon I learned some of the technique in CHINA but only got to level 3 of 5 of the training , which is basically what SHREDDER did to BATMAN in the BATMAN vs TMNT movie at the factory fight in the beginning of the movie where he focused his entire body into 1 POWERFUL STRIKE 3rd : it had JADEN SMITH in it
I actually loved the Karate Kid movie wth Hillary Swank. It was a girl knowing karate and I was 10 (or so) and loved that idea. And I still enjoy watching it when its on TV.
Grease 2 is worth a watch for Michelle Pfeiffer alone, as the sequel could never match the perfection that was the original movie, but it was solid. If the first Grease was an A-list cast, part 2 was a C+/B- cast, except Michelle of course, as she stood out and was well above her co-stars.
That’s a good idea, for me i would say: 1) mirrors 2) dumb and dumber 3) the mask 4) space jam 5) jumanji welcome to the jungle 6) hollow man 7) Aladdin 8) the wicker man
5:54 Fun fact: Originally, the sequel was going to have Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes having a basketball game against a new alien villain named "The Berserk-O!". Ultimately Michael's refusal to return and rather to be replaced resulted in production's cancellation
I personally enjoyed Space Jam 2, and I like it more than the first film. Space Jam 1 has been a fun movie, but 2 felt more emotional and made sense of how Looney Toons exists within the Serververse.
Space jam 2 I agree is enjoyable but the first 1 is just goofy and nonsensical and iconic you can’t deny it’s a great first movie in general. Space jam 2 is honestly a Warner Bros flex but it’s a good family movie.
@@1kbmahanAt times, I’ve been nostalgic when watching Space Jam 1, due to the blend of live action and 2D animation. Speaking of 2D animation, it’s pretty awesome to see cartoons with very fluid movements, and I wish Hollywood brings it back.
should continue with your Justified videos like.... Actors who make us think "where have I seen them" (which means their acting is memorable) Jere Burns, Margo Martindale, Neal McDonough, Alicia Witt, Brad William Henke, AJ Buckley, David Koechner, Garrett Dillahunt
Anytime i see Niel McDonough I'm like yup, that's the bad guy. Even though i knew Dum Dum Dugan was a loyal friend, I kept waiting for him to turn on Cap because McDonough was playing him.
The fact that the Mask was so bad is heartbreaking. There was so much potential in the world were in today for more of those films, but that'll never happen at this rate.
Aww, Grease 2 is a guilty pleasure because it has a few legitimate bangers. “Reproduction” is one of my favorite musical tunes. 🎶 Where does the pollen go? 🎶
I think it's a mixed bag here, cause you have to sift through each film franchise to see what worked and didn't. Plus you got to analyze what they were trying to do direction wise
Yeah but, MIB 3 was actually pretty good. And MIB 2 wasn't that bad, They just weren't not too sure what to do with it after the first one ended. And atleast it wasn't as bad as International. That one was even worse.
@@jeuryrabassa4724 Men In Black: International sucked ass! The reason I don't like it is because Chris Hemsworth wasn't even trying. He's better off playing as Thor in the MCU although he's voicing Optimus Prime in Transformers One.
I know people wanted the war with machines not the resistance sending a soldier back in time naked, steal clothes and protect someone from a new Terminator that formula has aged like milk. Too bad Paramount had to fuck up the franchise.
I personally really love the Terminator franchise. Everything after Judgement Day is extremely underrated and needs to get more appreciation. But Salvation was actually the worst one of them. Honestly I would love to see a Terminator movie.
I must be the only one in the world that genuinely loves Terminator Salvation. I thought it was refreshing to for once live in the future instead of trying to rehash the past like they did in the third movie.
@@ratedtriplexeah I have always loved the terminator franchise I even liked terminator 3 so satisfying seeing that crazy robo bitch get what she deserved 😉 I really hope we get more films in the future
I liked predator 2 sure you couldn’t really replace Arnie and it wasn’t as good but it was by no means terrible, I do agree tho that Danny glover is the best part of it.
When I saw the first Space Jam, I enjoyed it so much that I was hoping that one day they could make a sequel. But when I saw the sequel, it was not what I was hoping for and was almost a big disappointment.
Do Top 10 Best In-Game Episodes of Cartoon Network Example: Episodes of Cartoon Network Shows were the cast end up inside the video game in the whole episode There’s a lot of them Fair Rule: no including Board game episodes
10:00 - It wasn't just getting new leads, it was the quality dropped to unwatchable where the jokes were pure cringe, lacked anything remotely funny, and no direction at all. It's like Jason Freiberg and Aaron Seltzer returned to ruin everything like they ruined the first 2 movies.
I will forever defend Home Alone 3! Is it as good as the first two? Never in a million years. But from a story standpoint, a family can only lose their child so many times that makes sense. And I think what he went for worked with the third film. Again, not a great movie but doesn’t deserves anywhere near the amount of hate it gets.
Honestly, I think the new cast wasn't why the Blair Witch sequels didn't work. It was just that the concept was new and exciting in the first film, but had worn out quickly.
Home Alone should have just ended after the second one. There was even a sixth movie on Disney+. Home Sweet Home Alone. It was a movie we could have done without. As for The Karate Kid or should i say....The "Karate" Kid when it's a Kung Fu Kid wasn't a bad movie. Jaden Smith was actually pretty good as his character and so was Jackie Chan. As for The Next Karate Kid, as a kid, I liked it but only because I didn't know about the original Karate Kid movies until after watching The Next Karate Kid. One thing about that movie was that it was the debut of Hilary Swank. She would later win an Academy Award for Million Dollar Baby.
You forgot to mention the Men In Black series. The most recent one starring Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson apparently just didn't click with audiences. Also, does the all female Ghostbusters count? I think they were going to make more movies with that cast if the movie was successful, but it wasn't, of course.
Robocop 3 wasn’t the same without Peter Weller! And originally the film was going to be called “The Kung Fu Kid” but since the storyline was the same as “The Karate Kid” they called it that instead.
Yeah... Tokyo drift was unique outside the first 2 because there are car races. Everything after it is really a separate franchise with the same characters.
Hollywood already struggles to make good sequels, and it becomes even more difficult when the original talent doesn't return. The problem is that studios make creative choices based on a business perspective. Chasing after profits supersedes the desire to make a good film.
