How could they have forgotten the movie Playback 2012 that only made $264 in the US? It stared Christian Slater and was pulled after only having it out for a weekend. It made a total of $54,945 worldwide. I think that definitely deserves to be on this list.
@@generalalduin9548 They didn't seem to do much of anything with it. I watched it shortly after it was available to be on DVD. The movie itself wasn't great but it sure as hell wasn't That bad. My brother even told me about how badly it bombed before I watched it. I thought he was lying when he told me how much it made. Whomever did promotions for the movie really dropped the ball.
I think partially what made Morbius so difficult to endure was the fact that it was released just a few months after No Way Home. I started to believe that Sony really did care about their Spider-Man fans after what happened in 2019, but when Morbius came out, I realized at the end of the day, they don’t care about developing their characters or their worlds. They just care about making a ton of money no matter what.
I was one of the morons who paid to see this abomination. It had so many plot holes and lack of structure that I was tempted to leave the almost empty theatre.
@@bigm9228 I don’t think you’re a moron for wanting to see Morbius in the theater. Like every one of us, we want to analyze and judge the films that come out from both Sony and Marvel. The fact that you did means you had the chance to form your own opinion about the movie instead of immediately conforming to what everyone else said.
An interesting fact about the Uwe Boll "fights" was that he picked the people he was going to fight, anyone who looked like they could handle themselves was rejected by uwe's fight people. The people he picked were people who were unfit and who looked like they would struggle to get out of a wet paper bag.

Actually, the biggest tragedy about Max Steel was that it was based on a bad remake of a cartoon that was fairly good. The original version was that the protagonist, Josh McGraph was a college student who played extreme sports. After an accident gave him superhuman abilities and finding out that his adopted father was a high ranking officer in an American spy organization, he decided to join the organization as a super powered agent, going by the name Max Steel.
As soon as I heard about the Jem movie I knew it was going to end badly and as a fan of the show that hurt. It was an 80's cartoon that ran for only three seasons and had no reboots in the decades after like other Hasbro properties (Transformers, G.I Joe, My Little Pony) that would have kept it fresh in people's minds. I always felt they should have gone the MLP route and reboot it as an updated cartoon, build up a new generation of fans and THEN do a movie. Poor Jem. 😢
It's one thing to take creative liberties with the source material, but with Jem they completely disregarded it. Jem's stage performance, as well as her bandmates, WERE holograms. I guess the writers thought they could just completely leave that whole macguffin out of the film, but that'd be like having a Superman movie where he's just a regular dude with no powers.
It was kind of a, “If you build it, they will come” effort where the guys behind it had no real connection or love for the source and just figured they’d make money by trying to take advantage of a demographic by slapping the name “Jem” on it. They picked the wrong people to make a Jem movie.
How did Double Dragon The Movie not make the list. It was made back in the 90s. It was in real theatres the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of its release and put into in second run discount theatres with $1.99 ticket prices by Monday morning in most of the US. And it was gone from many discount theaters by Wednesday. Which means it wasn't even in theaters for a whole week.
Who's the movie studio executive that is so completely clueless to greenlight the project for the movie it's Pat has got to be the most luckiest person in the world to as to rise that high in the entertainment industry and make decisions like this. I don't see how anyone in the world could ever think that a movie of that character could make $1
I'm a little sad the misunderstood gem "Last Action Hero" wasn't on here. I worked at a little run down one screen theatre when it came out and it was the closest we got to a new release the whole time I worked there because it was bumped out of first run theaters a week after it was released. For decades, I thought my appreciation for the film was based on my sentimentality of watching it in my beloved run down theatre, but I watched it recently to see if it was as bad as everyone else remembers, only to find out it was better than I remembered, and WAY ahead of it's time. I think it's rallied enough of a well deserved cult and critical following over the years that people have forgotten what a huge bomb it was.
Laughing at “it’s Pat” and “Garbage Pail Kids” kills me because I had the VHS tape for both of them. I loved them years ago and can’t even find the dvd. Hysterical and not shocked that they made this list.
I loved Jem and the holograms as a kid and one year even made a Jem Halloween costume that was awesome but ppl didn't know who I was. They thought I was just a pink punk rocker. Anyway, I was so excited to see the movie when it came out and was so disappointed by it that I actually cried and I can handle bad movies. I proudly have a dvd of the Garbage pail kids movie that is only 10ft away from me now (good childhood memory). Half the movies on the list I've never even heard of though.
My mom made me a Jem (auto correct kept trying to put Gem) costume for Halloween when I was 4 (1992). The show was over by then but I remember she'd rent the VHS tapes for me and we'd watch them together. I later went as her again for Spirit Week 80's day in High School. A couple teachers recognized the look but no students. Lame. Garbage Pail Kids was awesome. It only gets hate bc of the hype. You know damn well a lot of people love it but bc it's cool to hate on it they say they do. Again Lame. Oh well. At least we know we can be happy actually being proud of ourselves.
@@vixxxenfoxxx3660 glad you got to enjoy the Jem costume (auto-correct does suck at times, although I think most ignore capitalized words) and it does suck more don't recognize the cartoon and how good it is. It appealed to boys and girls alike.
You forgot to mention Oogieloves and the big balloon adventure! That movie broke the record as the worst box office opening, and lot of theaters pulled the movie after the first week because no one went to see it in those theaters!
@@bigbearkat2010 I didn’t declare nothing. That’s a fact. It is a box office bomb. They was going to make a series of movies, but because the first one didn’t do good, they cancelled ALL the sequels. Look it up.
@@abellewis3062 I'm aware of how Dragonball did and cancelled sequels from bad box office happen all the time and in more embarrassing fashion. Just off the top of my head, Green Lantern 2 being announced like a year before the first is even released, Mortal Instruments sequel being cancelled during actual production, the final Divergent movie being unceremoniously canned after a failed TV movie pitch, also not on this video's list.
With all of the junk studios put out, a movie must be unfathomably bad to be pulled from theaters. Is it odd that if a movie is banned, I automatically want to see it more? I’m curious to know how bad the movie really is.
The backlash against Magoo was one of the most disturbing events in identity politics destroying art. No one assumed his other issues were related to his vision.
I enjoyed Honky Tonk Freeway, but then didn't see it until 30 years after it's release. I think it works as a contemporary of the car crash cinema of the time, such as Smokey and the Bandit, Cannonball Run and The Blues Brothers.
It was a staple of weekend afternoon TV in the UK in the 80s and 90s, I must have seen it half a dozen times. It’s not brilliant but it’s not terrible either, I had no idea it was a huge flop when it was released.
As much as “Kazaam” with Shaquille O’Neill was hated, I’m surprised that wasn’t on this list. But I guess it wasn’t pulled from theaters prematurely as all of these movies were
(This has probably already been mentioned, but here goes...) Michael Cimino's follow up to his critically acclaimed movie, "The Deer Hunter" (1978) was the notorious "Heaven's Gate" (1980). Running 228 minutes, the movie was so wildly panned that it was pulled (if I remember correctly) after just one day. Not only did critics and audiences alike found it incredibly slow-paced and boring, the movie eventually came under fire for it's mistreat meant of animals, including 4 horses who died during the making of the film (legend has it that one of them was literally blown up; not sure if that's true, but that was what was reported at the time). The movie turned Cimino as a One Hit Wonder of a director, and his career never recovered.

I actually took Bole up on his challenge to people who hated his movies. He emailed me back some weak-sauce excuse about a hip injury since I had actual martial arts experience, unlike the people he fought.
I was horrified to see Matt Smith in Morbius. It always sucks to see your favorite actors in crappy movies. I'll just make a Doctor Who headcanon that The Doctor got lost in Hollywood or something, lmao
I kinda heard about this movie, but I had other things to worry about at the time…. I had no idea that it had tanked…. Hopefully we’ll see him the Dr. Who anniversary show ….
Cage is such a character offscreen, that he might make for an interesting biopic subject. And no, "Unbearable Weight" does not count. It's a meta comedy. I have to respect someone who gives his all to whatever he's in. You can question his selectivity all day, but don't you dare question his work ethic. And if he loves what he does for a living, works hard at it, and gets well paid to do it, more power to him: not everyone gets to say that. I'm not exactly a Nicolas Cage fan, but I do admire him for that much.
VENOM had the writer from 50 SHADES OF GREY MORBIUS had the writers from GODS OF EGYPT And now KRAVEN THE HUNTER has the writers from TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT Sony's cinematic universe is doomed to fail And all because of AVI ARAD
There’s so many people on RU-vid that say things like that… do you know how many people use the word “underrated??” People mindlessly throw that word around so much that it’s completely lost its meaning. Everytime I turn around there’s somebody saying that a movie or an actor is “underrated” even when they’re really not. They could be 1 of the biggest movie stars ever or 1 of the most beloved movies ever and there’s at least 1 person saying it’s underrated… it’s unbelievable 😵💫😵💫😵💫
I worked a couple of seasons on a terrible, terrible tv series called "Equal Justice", which was unbelievably bad. I died of boredom just being part of it. The weirdness was heightened by the fact that several of the regulars on the show were actually on the edge of becoming successful and famous, but I've never heard any of them ever admit to being any part of it. Sarah Jessica Parker was about to jump into the stratosphere with Sex and the City, and Joe Morton was going to be in some smash hit movies... I think I saw a rerun once, and I couldn't even watch it, it was so awful. They had a bunch of "guest" directors who did not help the show, and spent all their time telling everyone about the last big thing they had done. Everyone was embarrassed by that turkey... It's always been amazing to me that no matter what, there has to be some magical alchemy to film making, since no matter how many success "boxes" you check off, there has to be that perfect mix of people and timing that just comes together.
😀😀I had no idea that Mr.Magoo was pulled from theatres. I actually remember seeing it as a kid. It came out around the same time as Flubber. #ScoopofGossip
If you want a good train wreck productions story.....1963 Cleopatra. Soooooo much drama going on behind the scenes. Much more than just the Taylor- Burton "scandalous" affair.
I remember that “Kevin and Perry Go Large” lasted about a week in my local multiplex cinemas (Brisbane) in the early 2000s. I had to wait over six months before I could watch it on VHS. I still enjoyed it though.
That film did surprisingly well in the UK and, er... Germany (of all places). I guess most people outside the UK weren't aware of the characters and the joke.
@@trevorbrown6654 I don't think Kevin and Perry were well known in Australia in the 90s/2000s. And this was well before you could use RU-vid to find their sketches.
I'm surprised John Carter didn't make this list. It was infamous for being the biggest box office bomb Disney ever made, even though all in all it wasn't half bad (io at least).
My husband loved it and I cringed. I love adventure movies, Westerns and science fiction movies, so it wasn't that. I didn't like Avatar and he loved that, too. We both love Master and Commander. And It's a Wonderful Life. Hmmm.
@@Blech-h9z my parents took me to see “Kazaam” in 1996 when it first came out when I was 9. I didn’t really have a problem with it and I never knew how much it was hated until just recently, It’s considered 1 of the worst movies of all time. As much as the majority of people hated it I’m surprised it’s not on this list but I guess it wasn’t pulled from theaters prematurely like all of these movies were
Update on Uwe Boll, he had previously retired to pursue running a restaurant that went belly up, and now he's returned to do movies with first shift as his first movie and 3 more coming out to be determined release dates (bandidos, run and 12 hours)
I bet Disney has some of these, such as The Black Cauldron, Kazaam, Mars Needs Moms, John Carter, The Lone Ranger, Strange Magic, Fant4stic Four, Wrinkle in Time, Dark Pheonix, and Artemis Fowl.
Dishonourable Mentions: The Gong Show Movie ( 1980) pulled after one week; Mad Magazine Presents Up The Academy ( 1980) the movie bombed so badly Mad Magazine owner William Gaines paid $30,000 to have all reference to MAD Magazine removed ( all references were placed back in for the dvd release), Zyzzyx Road (2006) From February 25 to March 2, 2006, Zyzzyx Road was shown once a day, at noon, at the Highland Park Village Theater in Dallas, Texas,[4] in one auditorium rented by the producers for $1,000.[1] The limited release was deliberate: Grillo was uninterested in releasing the film domestically until it underwent foreign distribution, but the film needed to fulfill the U.S. release obligation required by the Screen Actors Guild for low-budget films[1][5] (those with budgets less than $2.5 million that are not for the direct-to-video market)
I know that this is going to sound crazy, but I actually saw "From Justin to Kelly" on the big screen. Legend has it, his hair still won't fit through that window.
I saw From Justin To Kelly in the theaters … I Regret NOTHING!!! Lol 😅 I am today years old I am just now realizing (a then unknown) Anika Noni Rose who went on to be a Dream Girl alongside Jennifer Hudson and Beyoncé was in that movie 😍😍😍
I loved Mr. Magoo when I was a kid. Never knew it was based on a cartoon. Actually I kind of forgot it existed until this list lol Also loved Win a Date with Tad Hamilton (which they mention as a flop) when I was in high school. Garbage Pail Kids looks like it should be a horror movie...
I watched Morbius recently, and I was thoroughly entertained. I don't get why it flopped, to me it was a decent movie. It's only so far you can go with a movie about Vampires.
I think the quality of the filming and the narration was really bad but the actors tried. The script was rubbish so I guess no actor can make miracles with such dialogues.😅
Nobody was going to the movies right after 9/11 so Carey is partially right because the movie is really not that bad nor the worst I've ever seen. Movies like Honey and such did pretty well even though they're in a similar vein as Glitter.
Justin and Kelly could have been a good movie if they made it like a Disney movie for kids (I.e. Cheetah Girls) rather than a box office movie intended for adults.
The Comeback Trail? Think it kept getting delayed because of Covid and then they decided to release on sky/now tv etc instead of keeping it on at the cinema.
Jem and the holograms was a shattered gem stone before it hit the theaters. Just the reaction the trailer should have been more than enough to go straight to DVD or cable rather than the theaters.
FINALLY someone doesn't hate it ! I'm tired of these negativity , sure the scenes were cutted alot cause of Sony ( we need a director cut 😭) and those god awful post credits scenes, but it wasn't bad
Hey! I love your content and thank you so much for all the hard work that goes into it! As a concerned citizen: Is there anyway you could put a trigger warning or maybe edit out the children being shot at the 7:35 mark? Given today’s climate, it’s very hard to watch. Thank you again!
SPEED RACER (2008)- theater managers actually BEGGED WB to pull this one! HEAVEN'S GATE (1980)- the first theatrical cut (at 3+ hours!) crashed so bad the now defunct (because of this movie!) United Artists quickly pulled it after only week to re edit it... only to see it bomb again!
The Morbius movie is good. These doinks talking about how bad it is couldn't have done better. They probably don't even understand the movie, that's why they don't like it.
I can't believe you didn't mention "The Swarm." It came out in 1978, and was so bad they pulled it from theaters in 2 weeks. I actually saw it on the first week. It had big stars, and was done by Irwan Allen, but BOY HOWDEE was it bad!
Lol....my sister and I saw this in the theater....I was so bored I fell asleep and stored throughout. My sister told me that no one wanted her to wake me up because I was more entertaining than the movie. I think there might have been a grand total if 15-20 people in the theater.
I am surprised Pluto Nash didn't make this list. Its bombing at the box office cemented Eddie Murphy as an actor who didn't know when to walk away from a lousy script.
I don't care that the Max steel movie wasn't accurate are what we we're hoping it would be it still got potential and am actually waiting on the next part if it ever comes 😔
Morbius was so boring that I will never watch it again. With Morbius suffered the most delays, I was glad that I did not get to see it in the theatres. After watching it on Netflix, never again, it was a waste of effort.
Am I the only one who actually enjoyed Garbage Pail Kids? I was about 11 when I watched it on VHS, but my little brother and I thought it was hilarious!😂
I must admit that I liked it as a kid. My friends and I collected the cards, so we were already primed to like it. However, I watched it a few years back, and I could barely finish the movie.
That's because the cards were tradable, and to the lower taste crowds it fueled our 12 year old minds. Pay TV paved the way for trash. Honky Tonk Freeway was terrible, but when you are dealing with flu at home, it was what it was. Nowadays that Netflix doles out crap, yet as long as the powers that be say different, who are we to argue. I remember Uwe Bolls boxing debauch, a couple of magazines-- in the horror film industry, couldn't call enough attention to make bank off of it. Lionsgate, like Uwe, didn't care enough to run a proper press job on it, and it fell flat. Always puts things onto perspective.
I watched Morbius on Netflix and thought that it was a really good movie!! I know that there will never be a sequel which is sad, because it deserves a second chance. I actually loved Morbius!!
