I had season passes to this park when I was a teen. The last time I was there was when Mr. Freeze was still being built. I'm sad to see so many old rides are gone. The Shockwave was my first upside down rollercoaster and will always be my favorite. They need to repaint it back to white though. The log ride is amazing but looks like it could use a clean up. I'm so glad that the Mine Train was mentioned. I could ride that a million times and still come back for more. Judge Roy Scream's air time used to scare me. When they turned the carts backwards, that was epic! It's been 25 years since I've been back and I hope this Spring will end that streak. Thanks for showing this video!
Totally agree about Shockwave. The first time I rode it I had never previously heard it had airtime and I was blown away. And loops are really fantastic. Texas SkyScreamer is the scariest ride I've ever ridden. Haven't done the one in Orlando but I'd imagine it's similarly terrifying. I know it's safe but the chains look like they're made out of cheap tiny necklaces. Also, I loved Gold River Adventure. I have no idea why Six Flags hasn't taken more advantage of the Looney Tunes franchise and given every park a Looney Tunes dark ride. Heck, they could breathe new life into some of their more generic log flumes by adding a Looney Tunes overlay section.
SFOT is incredibly underrated. NTG is so much fun, and Shock Wave, Mr. Freeze, and Batman bring on the intensity. Judge Roy brings that classic wooden feel, and Aquaman looks to be really fun as well.
Most rides were closed down when I went but all their shops were open , usually I am a season pass holder but since they doubled in price and really aren't trying to get updated coasters here at Six flags Over Texas I'm opting out this year. Fiesta Texas is alot better with alot better ride line up but that's just my opinion.
Pretty Underrated park! I’m only gonna be talking about the roller coasters in my list, here it is: 1. Mr Freeze 2. New Texas Giant 3. Shockwave 4. Titan 5. Aquaman Powerwave 6. Batman: The Ride 7. Runaway Mountain 8. Judge Roy Scream 9. Runaway MineTrain 10. Pandemonium 11. Joker 12. Mini MineTrain 13. Wilé Coyote’s Grand Canyon Blaster 14. La Vibora
I got stuck on the Pandemonium one time. It was right at the end so they could reach us and they brought us waters because we were right in the sun. Weird experience for sure.
A treat of a park! Pretty spoiled growing up in TX with both this and Fiesta Texas. Awesome coasters. Haven’t been to either in a few years - gonna have to go back soon!!!
Did you ever make it to Astro World? Being from Piitsburg, Tx, SFOT was the park we went to. I have not been to Fiesta Texas or Astro World but I have several friends that have.
Texas Giant is my favorite, the first time I was scared. But then, I was having fun. I’ve rode it like 4 times I think. I did have to wait 2 hours tho.
Runway Mine Train was jerky and bumpy and kinda hurt which was disappointing. But runway mountain had a great final drop giving ejector airtime that surprised me. But however the setting is amazing in my opinion.
Have lived in TX all my life, and just went to SFOT for the first time Saturday night. Only got to ride Mr. Freeze & Batman, due to it being a packed Night, but they were definitely intense.
Yes, I like Harley Quinn as well. I don't understand what enthusiasts don't like about it. This is my most visited amusement park of all, with my first visit coming almost 20 years ago. Mr Freeze is a very close 2nd favorite in the park for me. I have great memories of Titan from back when I didn't care about airtime or even know what it was, so it remains my 3rd favorite for sentimental reasons.
so harley quinn spinsanity is your favourite? i’ve never gotten a great experience since the majority of my rides were fully loaded or almost to that point. i feel like it would be a better experience if there were less seats (making less total overall weight) although the line would be fairly longer. :)
@@clairesyoutube Oops, no. I can see how I gave that impression. No, New Texas Giant is my favorite, then Mr Freeze, then Titan. Harley Quinn would either be # 10 or 11. My 2 rides on it were only half-full, so I probably got much better rides than if it were fully loaded. 4. Shockwave, 5. Runaway Mtn, 6. Batman the Ride, 7. Runaway Mine Train, 8. Riddler Revenge, 9. Judge Roy Scream, 10-11. Superman & Harley Quinn
Thank you for posting this list. As a roller coaster enthusiast, I enjoy going to different amusement parks. IMO, here is the problem with Six Flags Over Texas. Half of the times the rides are closed. Why I don't know. The layout of the park is extremely confusing. It is like walking in circles that are dead end with very little direction. Most of the workers are teenagers that are clueless as to how to even get to the parking lot! I purchased 2 Flash Passes and it was a complete waste of money! Most of the rides I wanted to get on was closed! Now as far as the rides go themselves, my personal favorite are Mr. Freeze (hands down) and Titan. I haven't been on the others but I can personally tell you that Batman made me sick as a dog. All those corkscrew twists and my head banging back and forth gave me a migraine.
The layout used to be better. When they started adding new rides in the 90s, the took out a bunch of cut throuhgs, creating a bunch of dead ends. Also, the Titan was better the first few years it was open. The brake stop was only used to slow you down, and it was only when needed.
I really want to get here as the first Six Flags has so much to offer. One thing about this part that I love is it's lineup of positive G machines is better than any other. From Freeze, Batman, Shockwave, Titan... All have fantastic positives. Do you agree? There is so much to enjoy at the original.
One year there was nobody in line for the Texas Giant. My brother and I got to ride over 30 times straight sitting in the front seat. We didnt even get out, they just let us ride lol. That ride beat the crap out of us but man it was so fun!
For real about 78 or 79 I went with the churchgroup on the busride. That night before they closed I rode the runaway mine train like that it was awesome over and over i really like the scenic better than gettin jerked around though.
El Diablo isnt a roller coaster, but the funnest ride ever! *if you ever go on it, i suggest front or back seats, to get the thrill.* The Superman Tower Of Power was really fun because it went up fast, and you were zero gravity for a second. it also stayed up there for a minute, so you can get a pretty view. River Rapids is my LEAST fav. You try not to get wet and its fun, but at the end it gets you wet anyways. also, the water has algae and smells horrible The mini mine train is a fun kids ride, but if you go with a little one make sure that you hold on to the rail and dont squish them! The Pandemonium is a fun ride thats thrilling, but not scary. love it! oh, and if youve ever been to minnesota, its a copy of the fairy god parents ride. Harley Quinn spinsanity is fun! as of right now, it is closed. i got to be the last person to ride before it broke. the sky screamer is fun and calming, but the wind always throws me off. the joker is a 4D ride that i LOVE. but if you have motion sickness, even a little, your a goner. the riddler is again a fun but not thrilling ride, and is fun. if your scared-of heights, it goes 150 feet in the air. the titan is VERY thrilling, but the seats are just a bar to push down, and nothing to grip onto, it doesnt feel secure. the ride was great tho! i will come back to get more!
Based on what I rode in 2016, my favorite ride there is Texas Giant followed by Titan, Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast, Yosemite Sam's Gold River Adventure, Texas Skyscreamer, Justice League: Battle for Metropolis, Shockwave, Batman: The Ride, Judge Roy Scream, El Asseradero, Roaring Rapids and Runaway Mine Train.
The Batman ride is my favorite. And I've been on the Titan four times but the Gs hold me down. I always said I'm never going on it again, but I always did
I'm surprised that you have Shock Wave so high but I agree that it's a great vintage coaster that strives on its simple inversions and overall smoothness. I agree that Mr. Freeze is amazing. The fact that the whole ride is only about 45 seconds long is insane. Batman The Ride is great but I agree that there are much better clones. I love the Titan so much I can't believe you have it so low. That first drop is euphoric for me. New Texas Giant is so crazy and so smooth for a wooden hybrid like that. The wait is insanely long but the ride makes it 95% worth it. My favorites would be 1. Mr. Freeze, 2. Titan, 3. New Texas Giant, 4. Shock Wave, 5. Batman
@@CanobieCoaster I agree that the marketing claims are laughably fake. Still I feel that coaster nerds often times call them bad rides even though they are not. If you hate hangtime and going upside down you'll hate them but I can't name one coaster nerd that doesn't like hangtime.
My top 20 has a lot of similarities, but I have a preference for gentler rides which causes some differences. Where I am most notably similar to you compared to most rankings are Joker and Riddler which are usually ranked lower. Our biggest differences are Mr Freeze and Batman which are two rough for me to rank high. I particularly dislike Batman and will never ride again. As with most rankings my #1 is Giant which is a gem.
Imagine trying to ride again: Shock Wave at Six Flags Over Texas Arkansas Twister at Magic Springs Mammut at Erlebnispark Tripsdrill Vilda Musen at Gröna Lund Fly at Canada's Wonderland Technic Coaster at Legoland California Coast Rider at Knott's Berry Farm What would you think about those coasters, and the biggest differences and strengths between them? What do you think?
When I was 8, I mistook #15 for a water slide, and I thought it was part of Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, which I mistook for being next door, because from a distance, it looked like a water slide, and because we never brought or put on swimsuits, we never went on.
The headache rides have had things done in the past few years to make them a lot smoother but if you ride Judge Roy Scream, Batman, and Mr. Freeze too many times in a row you’ll probs get one
Idk top 20 but top 10 for me is.. 1. MR FREEZE, it’s just AMAZING if your scared you don’t have to like it but at least ride it once 2. Texas Skyscreamer, first rode it in December 2019 and I really enjoyed it, more than most people 3. Superman: Tower Of Power, it’s actually kinda relaxing to me because of how smooth it is 4. Titan, tallest roller coaster in Texas is a must ride and it’s crazy fun 5. New Texas Giant, I used to like it more but it’s gotten jerker the past few times, but still absolutely amazing 6. Batman: The Ride, just now bumped up to the 6 spot, the front seat is what does it for me 7. The Riddlers Revenge, was scared at first but I’ve rode it a few times and loved it 8. Shockwave, the double loop always hits and the ride is smooth for it being 44 Years old 9. El Aserradero, just rode it the first time about a month ago, and I really liked it more than I thought 10. El Diablo, when I first saw it I was like “I’m never riding that” wellll that aged well, I liked it a lot! HM: The Joker, Runaway Mountain, Pandemonium, Harley Quinn Spinsanity
Was looking at prices, is it like $80 for the add on to your ticket? So like $120? Would love to visit here next year as I've been wanting to visit Texas.
Shockwave will always be my favorite ride at Six Flags Over Texas. I am from Houston so since Kiren Burkes shut our park down . We now have to travel to Arlington or San Antonio. I will take the classic Schwarzkopf coaster over the new ones any day. Yes I agree SFOT is very underrated it could be a great contender if they invest more into it. But with the new CEO Salim I for see this park going down. SFOT needs a couple of new coasters like a GIGA, or a Wing coaster tear down music mill theater by Shockwave it has not been used in forever there is plenty of room to put a few more coasters even over the lake would be cool. Just Saying.
See in RCDB: Batman the Ride at Six Flags Over Texas Batman the Ride at Six Flags St. Louis Batman the Ride at Six Flags Great Adventure So how would you compare between those clones in terms of smoothness and forces?
Being from Michigan and new to the Texas and Dallas area I can't get excited about this park. Maybe I've been spoiled with cedar point. I do plan on giving it a try. The rides all just look so small.
I disagree about Titan but I can only go off of Goliath. Titan was closed the one time I visited this park years ago. I HATE Goliath. I usually agree with you so I am thinking Titan maybe is just better? The POVs of it indicate that the stoppage on lift hill may be less, therefore that would explain why there is a bit of airtime in the back. On Goliath there is zero airtime in the back seat, and I have ridden it enough times to make that assertion. On Goliath, you get floater airtime on the camelback only if you are in the very front seat, but you say in Titan the whole train gets it? the only thing that makes sense is that it is moving faster through the course. Everything else is more or less where I expected it to be, except I went pre NTG. Yeah, I went when Titan was the main attraction LOL, but was closed for maintenance. It was 2008 I'm sure. So for me, IF titan happens to ride the same as Goliath, it would be dead last. If not, well, I guess I'll experience it next year! PS I also always get leg tingling on the BTR helix, any version, and grey out for a moment towards the end of Goliath.
My bf just got a job here and wanted me to try some of these rides, I’m scared of heights but I wanted to look up the Harley Quinn ride and even tho right now I don’t wanna go upside down I think some of these rides I’m willing to do
@@CanobieCoaster oh it's just the abruptness of it lining up causing me to slam into the sides of the car haha. It's an interesting experience for sure
I don't suggest going on the Titan for your very first roller coaster cause if you aren't used to roller coasters yet you might pee your pant like me lol I suggest your first roller coaster at this park to be judge Roy or shock wave😅
No way I ever ride a starflyer so tall, I was scared at a 60m one at plopsaland de panne, those thin metal strings are just to scary for me, I also skipped eclipse at grona lund for this reason😅
