Neil Peatr about Carl Palmer: I will never be able to play as Carl. Buddy Rich about Carl Palmer: Never seen such precision, technique, speed and power,
@@williamparker1085 well, thank goodness, The Who was the only Band Keith could join and make the most exciting Live Band of the 60’s, 70’s! Did someone say Live at Leeds?
Top accolade will always go to John Bonham in any poll, but for me the best British out & out Rock drummer has to be Ian Paice. His technical ability was/is quite flawless & he was arguably ahead of his time. However, for actual technique, Innovation & how he evolved through his time, my Top Prize would go to Neil 'the professor ' Peart ~ Just my opinion, of course.
No Andy Ward, Phil Ehart, Carl Palmer, Alan White, Scott Gorham, Todd Szucherman, Terry Bozzio, Chester Thompson, Cozy Powell, Mick Tucker, Alan Gratzer, Barriemore Barlow, Clive Burr, Clive Bunker, Doanne Perry, or Steve Smith?
If you've never heard of Carl Palmer you might not be interested in rock-music. Anyone who listens to rock music has heard of Carl Palmer.@@user-jo9pb7wk1z
I understand the personal choices and stuff.. of course the aliens like Colaiuta and Porcaro are out of the list, as they go far beyond any possible category, but at least Carl Palmer should have been mentioned..
Mick was an excellent drummer, 1975 clip Fox on The Run. I love watching the drummers, and watching the old clips. He died too young from leukaemia, I think he was 54?
@@Matty0923 Oh sorry, I disagree! Everyone who knew ELP knew what an exceptional drummer Carl was! Its disadvantage? It's been a very long time and too many years have passed!
As a music teacher that I am for so many years already I just have something to say, that The Greatest Drummer of all times was , is and will always be The One and only Mr Neil Peart🎼🥁🎵🥁🎼🥁🎵🙌🙌‼️
What's missing most here, of course, is Don Brewer! (Grand Funk Railroad) - the main boss and the main teacher, as well as the motivator of all the other rock, high-speed drummers, starting with John Bonham, Bill Ward and Ian Paice, etc., and also, then, the entire army of metal, as well and thrash metal drummers! It was he who was the first, back in 1968, to start playing extremely fast, spectacular parts and technical drum solos, at cosmic speed! (even now, 50 years later, few do!) He is the founder and forefather of hard, tough and technical drumming! This is GFR, and the Brewers, in the late 60's, first started playing long, fast, heavy, metal, consider thrash stuff, with an emphasis on the downbeat, on the snare! (which was later adopted by absolutely all groups playing Thrash Metal!) And LZ, DP, PF, BS and everyone else, for example, in those days, in 1968-1969, still played ordinary, leisurely, heavy rhythm & blues, with psychedelic elements ... There was not yet a strong emphasis on the rhythm section, and in particular on the drums! Don Brewer was the first to record a killer, high-speed solo right on the album! (Moby Dick, in LZ, with Bonham's solo, the drum was launched half a year later and was launched as a response, i.e. a design for SKF and Don Bruhr, where they even did the construction of things 1 in 1, like SKF: several squares of reef + drum solo + killer code) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-niQwjA3ElYM.html - Into The Sun (1970) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-egkix7xN0t8.html - T.N.U.C. (1970) Brewer also sang coolly, and at the same time was the author of words and composer, i.e. frontman, along with guitarist Mark Farner. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rwsgznR_T-g.html - The song We're An American Band - This is his song, for the first time among all American rock groups and performers of those times, which appeared in 1973 in 1st place in the hit parade, leaving behind all the British. “Trash” translated from American slang means “to bludgeon, to pound,” and every concert of theirs in those days, mainly in stadiums or in Madison Square Garden, with the obligatory straw of Don Bruhr, it was sold out, trash and a complete sensation! They sold 55,000 tickets in 2 hours! (a record of that time that even the Beatles did not have!) And LZ, DP, BS, PF, UH, as well as their drummers, in those days, in the early 70s, could not even dream of this!!! Then, simply because of their greedy and dishonest producer, as well as because of internal problems, they broke up... They began to be forgotten, consigned to oblivion, belittling their enormous contribution to the development of heavy rock, and the rhythm section (this was the best rhythm section those times) bass and, especially, in the development of drums! Well, and most importantly, in the early 70s, all over the world, all knowledgeable and understanding people, fans of rock music, as well as musicians, considered the best drummer in the world not John Bonham, not Bill Ward or Ian Pace, but Don Brewer!
Entre gustos no hay disgustos, pero creo que faltó en éste ranking, uno de los más grandes de la actualidad y es Mario Duplantier de la gran banda francesa Gojira.
Hello hello... good list but for me there is one missing... my favorite drummer of all time, my master and my greatest influence as a drummer, which is none other than the ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) drummer Bev Bevan.. He is one of the best (although underrated) rock drummers of all time.. greetings
@@MeSoSoup252 excellent!!! Please don't forget to let me know when you do it. And I hope my beloved, admired and idolized Bev Bevan is in the top 10 at least!!! greetings from Spain
En tout respect, vous avez oublié Dennis Wilson de Beach Boys, Clive Burr (premier drummer d'Iron Maiden), Sascha Tukatsch de Platinum Blonde, John Panozzo de Styx et le drummer de Ramones.😊
Some people mistake their best and their favorite... what matters is who yor favorite drummer. Mine is Bonham, but if you have a different favorite, that is fine with me...
Clive Burr, ex- Iron Maiden. R.I.P., Philthy Animal Taylor, ex- Motörhead. R.I.P. Gee Anzalone from Dragonforce, Aquiles Priester from Hangar etc., etc. This is completely subjective.
Pas mal du tout mais c'est dommage ""Ringo Starr"", on ne vois que sa photo et ...je n'ai pas vu qui est le numéro 1 ???. Malgré tout ce sont tous des champions.
Phil Collins definitely and also there are some other very good classic drummers Jeff Pocaro (Toto), Caroline Corr (the Corrs), Debbie ? (The Bangles), Don Henley, Karen Carpenter. Which Roger Taylor is being referred to Queen or Duran Duran?
It's hard to say who is a rock drummer. I'd say by purely technical ability Nick Mason and Charlie Watts don't belong in the list. I agree with comments praising Ian Paice and Neil Peart. My favorite is Phil Collins mid 1970s. His sounds, pocket and fills, and attitude were awesomeness. Bonham was such a solid and powerful drummer. Id add all-round killer drummers Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Gadd, Jeff Porcaro and Simon Phillips.
It’s hard to say who is a rock drummer? Guess you never heard the #1 live rock album? Listen to Live at Leeds on a decent stereo at max volume, this will answer you question!
These lists are very subjective. Love the way Ringo turns up and you don't even see him playing. I'm glad however that Ian Paice made the list because it's well deserved. There are a few that should be included like Tommy Lee, Mike Portnoy, Dave Lombardo. In terms of technical proficiency, they are right up there.
There's alot of drummers on this list that are only here because of record sales. Now if you say, " well the best drummer is the one who gets the crowd up & dancing", then I suppose record sales will play a part into the list. That said, there are some great drummers on this list but many great drummers that are not. And, sadly, no one ever mentions Procol's drummer the late BJ Wilson or Humble Pie's Jerry Shirley and I tell you, they were tremendous rock drummers.
Really? You have here Charlie Watts and Phil Rudd? Tell me, where are Mike Portnoy? Gavin Harrison? Mike Mangini? Terry Bozzio? Carl Palmer? Virgil Donati? Marco Minnemann? Dave Weckel? And so many other great drummers so above the ones in this list 🤦🏾♂️
