Honorable mentions: Emma Greenway, Terms of Endearment (1983): She dies of cancer, and her last words with her children is soooooo sad. Harry Stamper, Armageddon (1998): He gave his life to destroy an asteroid at the last minute...and he had one last word with his only daughter. Mr. Spock, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982): Even when he uses logic to sacrifice his life, it doesn't make his loss any easier. LLAP. Sam Wheat, Ghost (1990): It was sad to see him die so early in the film, and even sadder when it finally time for him to go to heaven. Maximus, Gladiator (2000): Claudius fatally wounds him, he clobbers the SOB to death in the ring, and dies heroically. May we see him in another life, but not yet.

"Schindler's List" Red Coat Girl, we see her wander the ghettos while atrocities occur all around her. Later we see her dead amongst others to be burned. "Saving Private Ryan" Ryan's words at the end of the film amongst his family "Tell me I lived a good life, tell me I'm a good man." I could go on and on

Something more positive about Top Gun: The actors who played Iceman and Goose also voiced the fighter jets Echo and Bravo in Planes. In Planes, the jets help Dusty find the aircraft carrier and in addition to being voiced by the same actors, they’re also animated wearing the characters’ helmets. Echo wears Goose’s helmet while Bravo wears Iceman’s helmet!

I think Doby deserved his own place in the list. Everyone who read Harry Potter loved Doby. He had been Harry's almost secret helper throughout the books. It's a crime he didn't get the same attention in the movies, but it all ended the same way. Doby was a loyal friend to Harry and his friends and gave his life for him. Not only is it a shock with reading the books, but knowing that it's coming when watching the movies is even worse. Not to mention the sad somber music playing and the brilliant acting by Daniel Radcliff to show Harry's panic and sadness in the moment. My parents were upset for months when they first read Deathly Hallows, and both cried their eyes out when they started reading the words on the page. Dumbledore's death was tragic. Cedric's death was a wake up to the dark turn the series would take. But Doby's death was heart-wrenching and left people in shambles.

One more thing to Note, When Dumbledore said “Severus, Please” before Severus killed him, those who hadn’t read the books were initially thinking that Dumbledore was wanting to stop Severus from killing him. But as we learn in the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Dumbledore wanted Severus to kill him to gain Severus Voldemort’s trust and find a weakness, so it makes a surprising twist but also makes it more harrowing that Dumbledore’s death HAD TO Happen so that Harry could win.

@@nrkgalt He was the only man that Voldemort feared after all, and master of the elder wand. If he can duel Voldemort to a draw or potentially win all by himself no big group fight would have any tension. So you are 100% right. Dumbledore had to die and Voldemort had to get the elder wand. johnny's death will always make me cry. it really makes you think. people take living and waking up every morning for granted. and the letter scene fully breaks me. johnny just wanted dally to see a sunset and to know that there was still good in the world. but dally couldn't. johnny was the only thing that dally ever loved and when johnny died, he had nothing else to live for. i can relate to losing someone who's so close to you that you think your life is meaningless without them. i used to and still sometimes think about ending it all, i just don't want to be miserable anymore. my father was the only person who understood me, the only person who comforted me when my mom was yelling at me for God knows what. i love my mom but she will never replace the bond i had with my dad. in the poem when it says "nothing gold can stay", i think of it as, as soon as life gets good and gold, it can disappear like that. my life was wonderful i remember just last summer when my whole family was out at a restaurant and my dad was still here. i had never been happier. things got good, and then it was all ripped away from me. the only person i truly loved was taken away. i lie to myself that things will be okay and eventually things will get better, but even i don't believe me. i just can't take it anymore. i know i should just stop feeling sorry for myself and get my life together, but i just can't. i don't want to move on in life without my dad. sorry for the vent, i just needed to get some shit off my chest. i hope that everyone reading this has a great day/night.

It's fitting and depressing how Ewan McGregor had to lose two satines, first in Moulin Rouge then in star wars the clone wars.

In my opinion there are 4 other characters who deaths that should had been on this list. Snape of Harry Potter arguably deserved a spot because while he did loath Harry as he reminded him so much of his late father James, Snape did deep down care for Harry but only for the sake of his old flame Harry’s mother Lily as he indirectly caused her death via Voldemort and wanted to make up for his mistake. And his death in Deathly Hallows part 2 was well done by Alan Rickman especially his final words saying to Harry he has mother’s eyes. Another Harry Potter character is Sirius Black as he was Harry’s only loving relative and was like a father figure to Harry. For Harry to see Bellatrix kill him was very heartbreaking and Daniel Radcliffe’s ‘crying’ was dubbed out as it was deemed too depressing and traumatic. Joseph Merrick of The Elephant Man should had been on this list too as the film ended in a bittersweet moment with him having severe head disfigurements sleeping normally as his dying wish and it is implied the film ends with his soul reuniting with his mother in heaven. But the one character that should made the list is Anakin Skywalker. Sure he was most famous as Darth Vader but even he couldn’t bear to see his own son Luke get killed by Palpatine and sacrifices himself by ridding of Palpatine fulfilling the prophecy of bringing balance to the force and dies after seeing Luke unmasked as well as a redeemed Jedi.

I'm not gonna lie. The saddest deaths that made me cry a lot were Yondu (Guardians Of The Galaxy 2), Satine (Moulin Rouge), The Terminator (Terminator 2: Judgement Day), Gwen Stacy (The Amazing Spider-Man 2), Goose (Top Gun), Tony Stark/Iron Man (Avengers: Endgame), Albus Dumbledore (Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince/Harry Potter 6), Rue (The Hunger Games), Brooks (The Shawshank Redemption), Logan/Wolverine (Logan 2017), Jenny (Forrest Gump), Johnny Cade (The Outsiders), Jack (Titanic), and John Coffey (The Green Mile).

2 that weren't on the list but really got me were Star Lord's mother in Guardians of the Galaxy and Aunt May in Spider-Man: No Way Home. There is context to it. When GOTG came out, my own mother had died the year before and my father a few months before the movie came out. And when I saw No Way Home I knew I was going to lose my husband a month later. He had Alzheimer's and opted for euthanasia instead of letting the disease run its course. The death of Guido in La Vita e Bella was similar to me, because not long before my grandmother had died, who was like a second mother to me. Though I am sure even without that context the impact would have been similar. Regardless, when you are still coping with the loss of a loved one, these scenes hit extra hard.

Death scenes are made all the more emotional by the reactions of the actors around them. - Billy Flynn (John Voight) at the end of The Champ. Ricky Schroder crying and yelling, "Wake up, champ!" will tear your heart out. - Spock (Leonard Nimoy) near the end of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn. Kirk's reaction to his friend's death is some of the best acting William Shatner ever did. - Cedric Diggory (Robert Pattinson) near the end of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The way the scene goes from celebration to tragedy in less than a minute hits hard. - Alberto Parker (Gil Birmingham) in Hell or High Water. That death broke Marcus (Jeff Bridges) a bit. Marcus and Alberto had this peculiar relationship but Alberto's death made Marcus realize just how important his partner was to him.

There were a few more impactful deaths that should’ve/ could’ve made this list. Julian from Less than Zero Darwin from X-Men First Class Havok from X-Men Apocalypse Doc Holiday from Tombstone Boromir from Lord of the Rings FOTR And the quasi deaths of Alex Murphy from Robocop (still sad). The X-Men from X-Men Days of Future Past. All in all a good list. Goose, Yondu, and Logan still impact me today.

Boys N The Hood ... in Ricky Baker situation... there were many many Ricky Bakers. Who died tragically.. they were honestly good young men.. who just wanted to get a good education and just do the right thing.. but the world didn't see all young black men good just because of their skin color and the neighborhood they grew up in.. it's sad and John Singleton brought this movie to life. Coming from L.A. to go to college for filmmaking and telling his stories on the big scene.... Rest Well John Singleton... thank you for your stories in a real light of urban living ...
