What about the Rabid Zombies from Quarantine? Those were the first zombies, that actually *scared me.*

I’m always a sucker for anything zombie entertainment. It’s really cool to see different variations of the undead & even if it’s the formulaic zombie type it’s still fun

Last of Us zombies have always standed out to me as one of the most creative zombie iterations. Taking a real fungal virus that affects ant colonies and making it affect humans seems to be simple but creative. Runners seem to be your typical fast zombies, then stalkers hide from you in dark rooms making them hard to kill, clickers have fungus growing over their entire faces so they must use ecolocation to find you, boaters are frickin huge and throw spores, shamblers are a result of the rainy weather in Seattle and have acid spores, and then the frickin Rat King a bunch of infected that grew together into one giant monster and are the result of the first infected being taken to the hospital without anyone knowing how to treat or effectively take care of the monsters. Great games and I'm very excited for the HBO series.

I expected to see an honorable mention for Z Nation, it does have flaws I'll give your that but the zombies were unique indeed. Murphy being part zombie made it possible to emphasize for the Z's, which include his daughter Lucy. Plus there were unique variant's of Z's, you had Phyto (Plant), Toxic (Nuclear), Blaster (Half-Alive = Intelligence) and Rage variants that aren't Z's anymore they even kill other zombies.

In my opinion, a zombie is a zombie no matter what type it is.

Why weren't any video game zombie types included? The closest one we got was the T-Virus zombie type from Resident Evil, but they were specifically talking about the movies. I would have included the Clicker from The Last Of Us or the Tank from Left 4 Dead.

I'm partial to the zombies from the audio drama We're Alive. Some are your standard zombies but there are also ones with certain characteristics brought about by experimentation.

If I had to pick one on the list: Train to Busan HOWEVER. The zombies in Cargo will always be my favorite. It has a blend of social commentary ( racism and fracking/ pollution in Australia ) and biology that makes my bio major student heart beat a bit faster I feel like the fact that they aren’t just shambling corpses makes them all the more interesting. They’re attracted by certain smells ( like blood or perfume ), and sometimes, if an item or sound has a significance to the person while they were alive, they behave…strangely. Almost like a glimmer of the person they were once before came back I think mixed with a jarring transformation sequence ( which is based off of a virus that attacks ants, I believe ), the pus that drips from their eyes and mouth, and the animal like behavior ( they don’t want only people to eat. They’ll eat anything. Animal guts, roadkill. They also “hibernate” in dark areas ) makes them a very fascinating zombie for me

I'm a HUGE zombie fan. I've watched all the mainstream zombie content and quite a few smaller titles as well. I was really impressed with Train to Busan. Currently on the second to last episode of All of Us Are Dead and I am THRILLED. It's incredible. The explanation behind how/why the outbreak starts is so different from anything I've seen before and the overall social commentary is really eye-opening.

I loved the zombies in All of Us are Dead. Some of the infected didn't fully turn, but became "half-bies".

I loved the #Alive zombies, the concept of them retaining memories and behaviors from when they were human is great

For terrifying zombies, I am going with the Romeros and the Rage virus zombies. I admit that I am partial to the zombies in "IZombie," because they don't immediately become mindless, shambling and empty shells of their former selves. Unless they go too long without their required sustenance, they retain their intelligence, emotions, etc. I also love what happens to them after they eat a brain; how they temporarily take on the traits and skills of the previous owner of said brain. I know they're not scary and terrifying, but I still like their uniqueness.

The early zombie movies in the the 70’s reality scared my dad when he was little

This wasn’t added but I did see Cooties. Yeah, it has a weird title but it’s actually a good zombie movie. Instead of adults, it’s the kids that are zombies (it stars Elijah Wood)

The classic Romero zombies will always be the best hands down. Also, the Marvel zombies from "What If...? (TV Series)" should have been given an honorable mention or a spot on this list.

I always loved the idea of a feral zombie (like a state of decay feral) it’s a unique zombie type that’s epic but also makes sense in terms of an infection as the infection slowly turns the host almost rabid.

I remember when the walkers were actually RUNNING in the first season.

The zombies from 28 days later and the train to busan mythos are hands down my favorite kinds of zombies i like the train to busan ones A little more tho simply because their transformation and movements are much more terrifying. When people turn in 28 days they convulse and are literally filled with a monstrous rage stripping them of their humanity as highly infectious blood gushes from the victims mouth. But when a person turns in train to busan its like watching a demonic possession. Bones crackling and popping as they force the victim up on its creaking legs as the victim convulses foaming at the mouth with darkened blood and black and bulging veins desperately trying to hold onto their humanity until being completely consumed by the virus and once consumed they rapidly shake their heads screaming out with their blood frothed mouths charging at whatever uninfected person they lay their cold lifeless eyes onto trying to spread the infection.

The best zombies are the korean zombies. The best zombie movie is "Train to Busan" and the best zombie TV is "All of us are dead'.

How about the audience zombies that left the movies after seeing 28 Days with Sandra Bullock? LOL sorry had to say it after seeing the 28 days later

It's really not surprising that "Night of the Living Dead" is number 1, since it's the first zombie movie that started it all. I wonder why the White Walkers from "Game of Thrones" were not put on this list.

There is no way 1-3 were anywhere near as amazing as the Walkers, as you just can’t beat how deadly and grotesque (not to mention SO many variations) there are thanks to Nicotero!!

How about the variety of zombies from the Sci-Fi TV show 'Z-Nation'? Talk about variety, also I don't know if this qualifies but the ones from Evil Dead Starz show were good and funny too

The George R R Martin zombie from Z Nation is still one of the funniest zombies I've seen in awhile.

Tbh I like the 28 days later zombies. Whenever they are growling, they sound like they are choking. Also it’s scary to see them so aggressive and running so fast.

Necropmorphs and also I think its cool that in world War z anyone with any sort of illness mostly terminal and or other are completely ignored by the swarmers. It's really interesting

While it is unusual, and very cool, the Pontypool audio zed word isn't wholly unique. Films and stories like Stephen King's Cell and the movie The Signal are similar in origin. You also missed at least one kind of zombie: battery powered zombie: Chopper Chicks In Zombietown. In the movie, the local mortician, played by Return Of The Living Dead's Don Calfa, uses nuclear powered batteries to make automatons out of the townspeople to mine the dangerous material. The titular biker gang, a little person and a busload of blind kids wielding an uzi round out the characters in this Troma adjacent film. The caat also includes a pre-Sling Blade Billy Bob Thornton.

Fast zombies scare me the most….Reason being is because if the walking dead had fast moving zombies there would only be 1 or 2 seasons.

I was young enough that when Shaun of the Dead came out, it scared me more than it was able to make me laugh. Lol. I think my favorite zombies, as in the ones that terrified me most were the infected from 28 days. Followed closely by fast zombies in Dawn of the Dead, Train to Busan & (way less so due to bad CGI) WWZ zombs.

I have a Fan-made Zombie: The Vegan Zombie - The most Docile and one of the most Fastest out of all the Zombie types, since it won't eat humans, but instead will eat plants, as the name implies. - Despite it's skinny & lanky body, it is pretty strong and can use basic tools. - You CAN actually be near it - Instead of a normal bite, it's teeth have poison ivy, making the infection MUCH more spreadable - It can headbutt HARD

The Sadness is about zombie-like people. They get infected (they're still humans-turned-maniacs) and commit the darkest thoughts and fantasies they can think of (murder, r@9e and torture) and it is DISTURBING AF

I just re-watched Pontypool, and watching Laurel's transformation was more intense than I remember. The concept of infection in that movie was very unique, I liked it. Also liked that there was a 'cure'. "Kill is kiss. Kill is kiss." I thought that was genius. As far as scariest zombiest, the fast and hive mind zombie is the worst. There really is no chance of survival, imo. I disagree with your Army of The Dead analysis, though. I don't feel it is infection, but reanimation. The story contradicted itself, though, I will give you that. When the Alpha male found his Alpha queen's body, he dug out a fetus. That presents the question, did he get her pregnant before or after the change? If it was after, then infection is the answer. But when her head was cut off, it was still alive. Still moving and biting, so that means it's back from the dead unless you kill the brain. I just concluded that the dead kept some semblance of memory of their former life and some basic functions. Like decorating their heads with crowns. The Alpha probably remembered that his girl had been pregnant when she was turned, and he held onto that knowledge enough to dig the baby out of her headless body and grieve. If anyone disagrees with me, I am happy to have a discussion about it, zombie lore and evolution is fascinating.

No Night Eats the World zombies? Silent but fast? Those creep me out. A zombie attack is screams, followed by deafening silence.

Fast zombies are boring. Its just a running person with dental issues. But slow ones? Yeah, you think you can run away you just have to move faster then them. But you get tired and it does not. And when ever you take a brake to just catch your breath and look behind you. There it is, shambling after you. same speed as last time, always following you, always right there and even if you run for 20-30 mins it is still shambling after you, waiting for you to be too tired to fight. Fast zombies? Just a jogger with attitude. Slow zombies? A foul imitation of mans hunting methods. You can run but you will only die tired. Honestly for me the new fast types just ruined zombies. I mean, great they are fast woohoo. Like everything else, great. But the slow shambling horde that just follows with no stamina. Its always there waiting for you to slip up. Using the same tactics as we used only against us this time. How helpless would you feel if tired, broken and unable to get away you are attacked by the slow, shambling zombie that you have tried to get away from all day. Compared to a fast one that jumps you with no warning, no terror, no false hope just leaps on you. I really really feel strongly about this and i rant when tired. Fuck fast zombies, they are boring i say.

Alien Zombies; Dead Space. They may be decaying, but necromorphs are still pretty OP, able to basically turn into living scythes. Demon Zombies; Evil Dead. Possessed by demons connected to the Necronomicon, Deadites are about as campy as they are creepy when they torment you from within.

Hopefuly nothing mutates into something like this in reality. Rage Zombies are absolutely terrifying. Rage gives them the ability to probably sprint forever, outrunning many, perhaps myself included. Well, maybe not forever, as some theories suggest that zombies in general need to constantly feed to slow down their decay. Rule No. 1) Cardio

I am definitely disheartened that my favorites zombies were not included. What about the engineer zombies from, "I am Legend." They went beyond using tools and built a trap to catch Neville and well as played psychological warfare by moving the video rental store mannequin out into the street.

While I love George Romero zombies my favorite zombie type you forget is the ones seeking vengeance! The ones seeking vengeance...aka those who had their souls drained by werecats..I'm talking about Scooby doo on zombie island...mash together pop cultures two favorite things scooby doo and zombies and you have one hell of a movie! Yes there was no flesh consumption but the thought of having zombies around was enough to terrify the gang, combine that with the killer music and you really have one animated movie for the books! I wish there was a live action version of that movie
