My pleasure. It's truly a top 3 system for me and had a huge impact on my gaming life, so I was thrilled to finally put the list out. I just couldn't keep it to 10. Too many good games!

Well I remember the Colecovision I was 12 back then and it was great! I sure played a lot of Venture and Dk but my friend I got Smurfs at Christmas when it came out and sorry to say but it was truly awful! I hated it just walking and jumping and nothing else boy it sucked! For the rest well yep all good games for sure! Anyway nice presentation thank you !

Well I appreciate it. Smurfs certainly hasn't aged well, I agree, but it was highly acclaimed when it came out thanks to it's cartoon perfect animation/graphics (as perfect as you can get for the time, anyway). It definitely gets harder as you get further into the game with bats, spiders, etc. chasing and diving at you, so.... the challenge is there. It's just always been a fond gaming memory for me --- and I didn't even like the Smurfs cartoon! :)

Loved my ColecoVision as a kid! I agree with the comments for Mr. Do! But noboby mentioned one of my absolute faves, Looping. First game I remember with flightstick controls. To this day my camera is Y inverted on all games. Haven't talked to many who set their controller like I do. Really enjoyed the list. NOSTALGIA!!! 😊

Two things. 1. Jumpman Jr. is my number 1. 2. The pitcher is a leftie 🙂. Thanks for the video.
@TheLaymanVideoGamer
@TheLaymanVideoGamer Год назад
I do like Jumpman Jr. I never had it when I was a kid and had my original ColecoVision, so I doesn't have an emotional or nostalgic connection to it, but it is good. And yes, the pitchers are all left handed, but all the batters are right handed. I say it in jest, but clearly it makes sense to do that from a graphical standpoint.

Here’s one for you for an honorable mention. It does not get a lot of love because of the title but it’s a hell of a fun game. Cabbage patch kid. It plays a lot like a pitfall game.

I LOVE this console! I have fond memories of these games and they are probably the reason why my eyesight is not what it used to be 😁. My personal favorite was Mr Do. I used to play that for hours and hours. Most people don't realize that the actual purpose of the game is to collect diamonds out of the apples. You have to break them all open and the diamond will appear in the last one you drop if there is one in the level. They're worth big points. I remember wandering through Princess Auto, which is the canadian version of Harbour Freight, sometime in the early 90s and seeing boxes full of surplus controllers for these consoles! They wanted $8 cad a piece for them! I wish I had the money to buy those up as they are prone to damage on the joystick but I was unfortunately just a little kid with a little kid budget. My grandfather was a radio engineer and electronics buff who kept those controllers working for much longer than they probably should have worked! He'd cringe every time someone got excited and moved the joystick a little too enthusiastically 🤣. Fun Times. Thanks for giving this amazing and underrated console the love it deserves!!!!

Very nice list. Was thrilled to see gems like Wing War and Dukes up there. Also Smurf. I too hated the Smurfs, but loved the game. To this day the ColecoVision is still my favorite system of all time. It was so ahead of it's time. I loved Rocky as well. My mom was a huge Mr. Do! fan and actually wore a system out and had to buy us a new one! lol

I appreciate you watching and thank you for pointing out those games. Wing War and Dukes don't get enough love I think. And they were incredibly popular in my household back in ColecoVision's heyday. Mr. Do is a great game so I could see someone wearing that game out. It's funny and awesome that it was your mom :). Cheers!

I had the atari 5200 and a Colecovision and I really liked the 5200 mainly the 5200 could handle more sprites on the screen which is why the ColecoVision you had characters on the same scan line had a lot of flicker. Also the color pallet of the ColecoVision was limited and the colors seemed very washed out as the logs in Frogger where almost pink. The sounds were not as good as the 5200. What amazed that Donkey Kong was the pack in game for the ColecoVision and it did not have all the screens of the arcade. I am glad you loved the ColecoVision it was a very good game system. As I am 72 years old I had the ability to have a lot of game systems. I liked them all. I had the ability to compare them side by side. The only reason I even commented was because of your claims of the arcade accuracy of the ColecoVision! Pepper II was the best arcade conversion. Donkey Kong and Donkry Kong jr. We’re missing the last screens! It just did not have enough memory. The Atari 5200 was really an Atari 8bit computer in a console. They both had terrible controllers but they mad e 3rd party controllers for the ColecoVision and they made gold contact flex boards for the 5200 controllers. My favorite retro game console is the Atari 7800. I want too see all retro consoles have great fans like you!
@TheLaymanVideoGamer
@TheLaymanVideoGamer 11 месяцев назад
First of all I appreciate the comment. I love hearing from everyone. As far as my claims that ColecoVision was arcade quality… those aren’t my claims. That was ColecoVision’s claim. “The Arcade Quality Video Game System”. And for the time, they were as close as it got (I believe the 5200 came out shortly after) Sound wise, I have to disagree with you, the ColecoVision sounded better. That’s kind of always been Atari’s Achilles heel. Again, we all have our preferences and ColecoVision is mine. I do love the 5200 ad well. Great, great system 👍🏻
