Minnesota Rouser did not even make the top 25. Back in the day there was a competition for composing the fight song, and the Minnesota Rouser won. A song called "Minnesota" came in second. Wisconsin needed a fight song at the time, so they took it and just renamed it "On Wisconsin"
The problem with these compilations is that they're based more on favoritism, familiarity, maybe the quality of the football team. They should be judged on the music alone. Nebraska is an OK fight song but sounds like a lot of other fight songs. It's not distinctive in any way and doesn't deserve #2.
Emmanuel Kilat I am I big ohio state fan and I want to go their someday but they have one of the best marching bands in college football they got picked to play in the 2018 macys day parade that us how good they are
The junior high I went to used Northwestern's fight song as their own. Being a flute player I found it great fun to play, with all the trilling and stuff.
It has always fascinated me that so many school fight songs sound similar... I have always wondered how many universities took an already popular fight song and simply changed a note or two
Well, texas being the younger of A&M didn't have a fight song...so by 1927 took ours, Texas A&M Aggie War Hymn and just sped it up...along with "The Eyes of Texas" to the tune of I've Been Working on the Railroad" that's all they are. Most, if not all, the longhorns existence is a borrowing/ taking of other schools' traditions.
I know, Right? It’s only the most recognizable fight son in history lending to the fact that ND has been represented on the big screen more than any other team. Who made this list, the same old boys network who pick the FBS Top 20?
Always loved the Texas Longhorns fight song--it's bawdy and brash (kind of like Texas itself!!) I always think of Foghorn Leghorn when I hear it LMAO!!
But Kudos on GT at #1. I'm playing a dynasty with them on NCAA14 and love this song. Not to mention, the song in a nutshell is about getting trashed. Nothing better than booze and football! haha
As a USC guy, I can say that "The Victors" from Michigan is the best single Fight Song. We actually have three songs that we play during a game at SC - Fight On, Conquest and Tribute to Troy. Just for fun, we'll throw some Tusk in there as well.
I just realized this, so I went to Flower Mound High School, and part of Michigan University's fight song was used as the fight song for the Flower Mound Jaguars.
geogia needs to be so much higher. i went to a georgia nebraska game when i was 8 and i still remember their fight song to this day. i thought it was so cool
Arkansas fan here! Glad our fight song is number 8 here! Anyone remember how the USC and Wisconsin fight songs were incorporated into the score of the Archery Tournament chase scene in the Disney animated "Robin Hood" movie?
@@wyattstevens8574 I can’t think of a movie that plays one of the fight songs, but the sport film “Rudy” takes place at Notre Dame, so their fight song might be heard there.
USC is by far the best fight song. I'm an LSU fan and don't really like USC but their song is just far, far better than any of the ones in front of them. You didn't put in the Fanfare or Tribute to Troy part of it, which is what they play 99% of the time, and it beats the pants off of everything else on that list.
Good video. I was working on THE same exact thing (Top 25 College Football fight songs) before seeing your video, but my list, selection of songs with some of the schools and order are noticeably different from yours. I've just completed my video. Feel free to take a look.
Jackson Leaver Sorry buddy, the Utes didn't make my Top 25...but one of your rivals did. I've just completed the video. Try not to throw things when #18 turns up ;)
@@grantgrabowski229 I don’t think you know how to read. I said Aggie War Hymn talks about UT more than it does about their own school. Texas Fight literally has one line “and it’s goodbye to a&m” while aggy war hymn literally only talks about wanting to beat Texas. It’s cringe when you think about that, you haven’t played UT in almost 11 years. 💀
@@lucariothegreat5331 But I think the plan is for them to play again either this year or next! And by the way, there are actually 2 verses to the War Hymn- you're probably more familiar with verse 2, but verse 1 talks about TAMU more. And I would put it as a close second to ND, followed by MIchigan.
My community college uses it as the fight song! I had the c.c's version of the *lyrics*, but it took me a 30-second YT video performance and multiple watches (searching on, of all places, Spotify!) to figure out that it was the Victory March!
Kenni Cumberbatch hey I'd really love to get your opinion on a team like the Washington Redskins? I have always been fascinated with Native American culture! I'm just curious on what your stance is about the name.. Should it be changed or stay the same I feel like it's an honor, a tribute to Native Americans but idk I'm also not Native American.. how do you feel
Kenni Cumberbatch P.S. I think Florida state has hands down the best fight song in college sports... except for the Philadelphia Eagles they got the best LOL I bleed green
At least my high schools fight song sounded like a couple college fight songs mixed together(from what I've heard). I've been trying to find a song that sounds most similar
8:44 cheer cheer for the red and the white. Cheer cheer to make our team fight. Show the world what we could do, our fighting spirit will through. Any opponent big or small, CCHS will win over all. Something something something onward to victory! Go Squirrels! Fight! Fight! Fight! Love from Central Cass High School Casselton ND
I went to a high school that used Notre Dame's fight song in a state where nearly every high school used Ohio State's. Pretty ballsy, considering the Shoe was a 20 minute drive from there.
30:46 this is actually the song they use when they make a PAT or field goal but close enough. GO BIG RED!
My community college too- I had started searching for it when I wanted to know, and when I heard the community college's version I vaguely recognized the Victory March, although I didn't know that was what I was hearing!
The OU fight song starts of great but just repeats... again and again and again... It's the only, It's the only, It's the only, It's the only, It's the only, It's the only, It's the only, It's the only, SONG WE KNOW !!!! It's the only, It's the only, It's the only, It's the only, It's the only, It's the only, It's the only, It's the only, SONG WE KNOW !!!!
