I totally agree. I’ve had six complete Playthru’s of the game. I played through each of the routes, including the DLC and twice for the black Eagles for the two different routes. You can do inside of that. Plus the blue lions for a second time. Absolutely love that game, one of my favorites in the series, along side, path of radiance and radiant dawn
While my top 3 favorite games are Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and Fire Emblem: Three Houses in that order. I believe most "impactful" objectively was Breath of the Wild. It basically inspired nearly every other Nintendo franchise to attempt something bigger and better than the respective franchises have ever done before. For better or worse, but for the most part, Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Fire Emblem, Pikmin, Xenoblade, Luigi's Mansion, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, Kirby and many others have been doing as best as they've ever done sales and critical acclaim. Of course, Pokemon, the Mario sports games, and Paper Mario (Pre-TTYD remake), could have all asked for better. And we yet to see a new Wario Land, a new Donkey Kong Country that isn't a port, new Kid Icarus game, new Star Fox game, or a new Golden Sun game. But there is hope for those franchises to continue over the next generation.
@@lordrikudouzero9119yep, even the annoying Genshin Impact gameplay was inspired.. many other games tried to copy the BotW skeleton.. i was turned off by the othher games like Genshin Impact and never played those games, only BotW
I mean how can BotW not be #1? I bought the Switch because of it, I couldn’t put the game down while playing, there was a magic to the game…man what I wouldn’t give to experience those first 2 weeks again 😁😭
Yo it’s my first time actually checking out your videos. One thing I like is that you let us know the overall background aspects of the game! Could be gameplay, online play, selling copies etc! Good stuff👍🏼
The best part about LGPE is that it's the first time we got a remake ("reimagining") of Pokemon Yellow. Red/Blue got a few remakes, but we hadn't had a Yellow remake before LGPE.
I think it would been sweet if game freak kept the let’s go graphic for all their remakes. Can you imagine pearl and diamond would have looked in the let’s go graphic’s. It would have been sweet.
If we’re talking about most impactful both on its own IP as well as how much of an impact it at least should have on the gaming industry, definitely BotW for its world traversal, XC2 for its custom difficulty, and FE3H for its branching storylines
New horizons tops it regardless how u spin it. Fandom, sales, inspiration., impact. No game has done more across the board. While i think zelda, smash, mario and mario kart are up there i just dont see how new horizons gets beat by any of those as far as most impactful.
Really cool video. Been watching in parts over the last few days. The idea of each of those games being impactful in their own way is actually quite incredible. To have so many games dotted across the switches life cycle that had a big impact really shows why this console kept doing as well as it did. I also think a lot of those "impossible" ports like Witcher 3 sparked interest in this console as well. I know I love collecting an impossible port on the Switch now and the discussion around it.
In no particular order, the games that were most impactful for me were breath of the wild, which blew my mind. When I first picked up the system, Mario odyssey, Splatoon two, Xenoblade, chronicles two, which got me into the whole franchise, along with fire emblem, three houses which may be one of my favorite games ever. I’ve played through it at least six different times every route available at least once. One of my favorite fire emblem games along with path of radiance and radiant dawn. Also astral chain was absolutely amazing. It caught my eye the very first time I saw a trailer of it and it did not disappoint. Plus I’m a huge FINAL FANTASY fan cell having physical versions of most of the main line entries in the Final Fantasy series that I can play Handheld or on TV was amazing
I bought my Switch for Super Smash Bros but not much compares to that first few hours of gameplay in BotW and getting the glider. Absolutely incredible.
If The lore was good The writing was good The music was good The vibes were good The messages were good The character designs were good That’s all you really need
Three Houses was monumental for me. I had been a fan of FE since the 3DS. But kinda felt each entry was missing something big or small. Three Houses, at least to me, had every Awakening, Fates and Gaiden Remake was missing. And improved on all fronts. It's easily my favorite in the series and top 5 favorite games of all time
I guarantee that we are gonna see a massive leap with the next animal crossing game, Nintendo clearly saw how many people purchased that game and i bet there’s a BOTW moment on the next console for it. Maybe they will support it for longer this time too
Nintendo has the most sustainable business model. Going lower-tech and lower-spec was the smart play. Nintendo is one of the only companies that realizes they make video games... not "technology". GAMES. Sony has completely lost this perspective, and I'm not sure that Microsoft ever had this perspective. Nintendo is the last REAL game maker around that happens to also make consoles. I think Nintendo has seen this coming for a long time. With age comes experience, and this company has seen many adversaries rise and fall. Nintendo saw their competitors promising better and better production to the point where there is no return on investment and only their frail fundamental IP to justify hardware. Now the third parties are fleeing and afraid of partnering. Nintendo have been playing the long game and it has paid off in spades. Nintendo thrives in limitations it allows for more creativity Sometimes too much freedom means no direction But within a limitation you can challenge yourself how to be flexible within it like a fun puzzle you experiment with PEOPLE NEED TO STOP GIVING A DAMN ABOUT GRAPHICS IF YOU WANT GOOD GRAPHICS WITH REALISTIC TEXTURES GO OUTSIDE AND HUG A TREE NINTENDO WAS SMART AND REALIZED WHAT EVERYONE ELSE IS TOO SLOW TO Nintendo realised long ago that competing in graphics is pointless. No matter how powerful your console is, in a couple of years it is going to be obsolete, and anybody who really cares about graphics is going to buy a PC, because that is where the best graphics are. Instead, Nintendo focuses on their strengths: * Nintendo likes hardware gimmicks, because it makes their console stand out. Nobody bought a Wii because it had the prettiest graphics, they bought a Wii because they wanted to play with the motion controls (An idea so good both the “superior” PS3 and Xbox 360 tried to copy it). The same thing is happening with the Switch: people are buying it because they can play their games anywhere, and can move between a handheld and a home console. They like to focus on giving customers something that they cannot get anywhere else. * When Nintendo did try to compete on power, they didn’t do very well. The N64 and Gamecube were the most powerful consoles of their generations, but were both massively outsold by the “inferior” PS1 and PS2. The Wii was the weakest of its generation, but outsold the PS3 and Xbox 360. This proves Nintendo’s approach to console design clearly has something going for it. * Performance is expensive. Performance is even more expensive when you are using it in niche applications. If Nintendo wanted to have something as powerful as an Xbox One or PS4, while still being portable, then it would probably cost twice as much. This means that Nintendo would have to charge more for the console (probably not something the market could sustain) and/or eat a hefty loss on each console sold. Instead, by not focusing on performance, Nintendo make a profit on each console, and keep it at a price point where more people can afford it. * One of Nintendo’s biggest strengths is their first party titles, all of which rely on stylised graphics and strong art-style. It doesn’t matter that the console is not very powerful when Pokémon, Zelda, Mario (and its millions of spin offs), Smash Bros, Metroid and Donkey Kong are incredibly popular and all don’t care about high end graphics. Why make your console more expensive to make and develop for when you don’t even need it? * The companies that tend to focus on graphics are third party developers, such as EA, Activision, and Rockstar. If the console sells well (like the Switch currently is), then those developers will find a way to bring their games to it or, failing that, make unique games that work best on the hardware. * By not competing with the other consoles, or PCs, in terms of power, while offering unique gaming experiences, Nintendo has comfortably found a niche as an optional second system. If you have a PC, PS4 or Xbox One you have very little reason to buy one of the others, because they are all basically the same. Nintendo’s consoles offer things that none of the others offer, and thus can easily tempt people with another gaming device into purchasing it. * Nintendo has also found a strong market in all ages These people don’t care about graphics, so why waste money on giving them something that they don’t want? An families don’t care that the Switch doesn’t have the best looking games, they’re just happy that they can have fun Ever since the Wii era Nintendo has. Been trying to train us that power doesn’t matter Whimsy and imagination and creativity and memorable experiences are more important to them And y’all still aren’t getting it Move on from Power it don’t matter Nintendo doesn’t want it They think it’s boring They don’t care Official quote from iwata: "Even when we were going to launch the Wii system, there were a lot of voice saying 'Nintendo should stop making hardware'," Iwata recalled, talking to Gamasutra. "The reasoning behind that was Nintendo would not have any chance against Microsoft and Sony. The fact of the matter was: I did not think Nintendo should compete against these companies with the same message and same entertainment options for people. "We have not changed our strategy," he added. "In other words, we just do not care what kind of 'more beef' console Microsoft and Sony might produce in 2013. Our focus is on how we can make our new console different than [others]." The switch is faithful to iwata’s legacy .
If hours played was taken in account Mario Kart 8 would not even be on this list yet a few turn based Strategy games would make it to the list. Nintendo once displayed the most played games like 3 or 4 years ago in December.
New horizons is #1 if ur not letting ur bias come into play 😂. Without question, sales, fandom, marketing, and impact are all top of the charts compared to any other game. Sales is the only dispute but mario kart only outsold it cuz it was bundled with the switch every single sale for like 6 yrs. Take out those sales numbers and im pretty confident in saying it would be #1.
Persona 5 still seems too high. It just doesn't seem as impactful as some of the other games you mentioned before it. I feel like given the switches success sega had to change their strategy and P5 was more of a byproduct of that than a driver of change
Technical specs don’t matter Nintendo has the most sustainable business model. Going lower-tech and lower-spec was the smart play. Nintendo is one of the only companies that realizes they make video games... not "technology". GAMES. Animal Crossing is too low. It single-handedly carried the system for at least a year during covid. That bought time for Nintendo to get development schedules back up after the disruption and gave them this surplus we're seeing now. The Impossible Ports, particularly Doom and Witcher 3, needed to make this list. They stopped the attempts to marginalize of the system and proved it was a capable of keeping up power-wise. Person 5 has no business on this list, but its OJ, so what did I expect?
If ur judging from a non biased place. Its impossible to not put new horizons #1. Esp if ur taking in effect everything. Sales its 2nd but only cuz mario kart was bundled with switch forever. Not to mention the ac special edition switch was the best selling special edition console and the only special edition console to get a 2nd run cuz it sold so good. Inspiration...it literally started the wholesome boom. Marketing and eyes to Nintendo it brought in more companies then any other business ever, u had ikea doing ac stuff to 7 11 all the way to kfc. Every company was using ac as a Marketing tool. So just by the numbers alone its impossible to argue otherwise. The list can be subjective sure....but when it comes to factual....it is #1 . Just no argument against that. The numbers dont lie and all the numbers are there to back it up.
Sry bud new horizons without a doubt is #1. It got more ppl to buy a switch then any other game. Not to mention that amount of attention it brought in. U had 100s of companies making their own islands for ad purposes. While mario, smash and Mario kart might scream Nintendo according to most...but the numbers dont lie. And new horizons would have beat out mario kart in sales if mario kart wasnt bundled with the switch in almost every single sale they ran or holiday bundles. No game has done what ac did when it comes to numbers. I guarantee u the new horizons bundle is the best selling special edition as well. While i believe mario kart and smash have a argument....i think fandom of preference is the only reason new horizons isnt placed above these titles. And as far as zelda goes...its up there but not #1 . As u wanna talk about closes....new horizons literally started the "wholesome" boom lol. It is the only genre to take over out of nowhere like it did and that is thanks to new horizons. So do i think this is a solid list....yes. but i also think its a bit biased due to what u enjoy esp when it comes to top 5. I agree the top 5 is the right games...just wrong order imo
What made the Switch it was the behemoth it is today? Top 5: Fortnite, Splatoon 2, Minecraft, Mariokart 8 Deluxe, Animal Crossing New Horizons...these games brought in all kinds of people who aren't hardcore gamers...without these games, the Switch would just be a system for Pokemon nuts and hardcore Nintendo fans.
Sony dominate in state of play astro bot blow away 3d mario concord blows away overwatch and with GTA 6 come next year the PS5 will pass switch all time sales GTA 6 alone will sell 50 million ps5s its over sony win generation nintendo direct nothing but remasters
Nintendo Switch out sold PS4 despite PS4 having a 3 and a half year head start. And PS5's biggest criticism is it barely being an upgrade compared to PS4 Pro; it may be capable of 8K graphics, but 8K resolution is basically worthless investment since 4K already translates to 83 megapixels with the healthy human eye comprehension being 71 megapixels. Unless we evolve into Kryptonians, 8K resolution isn't worth it. Frame rate and digital storage might be a different story. Furthermore, PS5 barely has any games that are also on PS4; as of late there have been several more, but most agree that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is pretty much the only consistent reason to have that as opposed to owning both a PS4 and a modern PC. And even Sony is considering to port most of those games to PC. Switch is also on average selling more worldwide units per year compared to PS5 even with the head start excluded or the first 4 years of Nintendo Switch are especially well compared to PS5's. I don't even think PS5 is going to sell as well as PS4. GTA6 will most definitely sell crazy sales, most likely even reach 9 digit unit sales again, but it's not like that benefits PlayStation by relativity. Despite GTA5's sales. It initially helped boost sales of PS3 and Xbox 360 and sold really well on both platforms, and continued to do well on PS4 era. But it was mostly the PC sales that did especially well. Porting it to PS5 and Xbox series didn't make those consoles go up or make any of them sell anywhere near as much as Nintendo Switch. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo's next gen hardware got a rerelease of GTA5 which turns out to also sell well on that platform. Most of GTA6's sales will primarily be do to PC and less to do with PlayStation or Xbox.
I hate to break it to you my guy but even if the PS5 sells another 50 million units driven by GTA6 it’ll still trail the switch by 50 million when the switch has overtaken the PS2……
