I've made all of these. I'm 45, my mother AND father stressed learning how to cook. Yes people go bonkers when I bring a dish. At least I take home a clean dish!😂
Gen X and older Millennials remember several of these including Carrot Cake Bananas Foster Black Forest Cake strawberry shortcake etc. the first time I ever had Carrot Cake was in the School Cafeteria in elementary school around easter time
OMG!! I love banana 🍌 pudding!! I really like almost all the desserts on this adventure except Black Forest cake and Carrot 🥕 cake. I love sweets in general!!
Does anyone remember the Pink Champagne Cake of the 1960's/1970's? It was a birthday favorite of mine for a time, outside of the always classic German Chocolate Cake, with as much chocolate, nuts, and coconut as possible in frosting, filling, and topping. I was shocked to learn about the non-frosted version of German Chocolate Cake that simply had the cake layers and the coconut/nut topping/filling, which I think was due to a regional difference from East Coast/West Coast.
I had Black Forest Chocolate Cake once. I love Cherries like crazy and I like Chocolate. I'm part German. But this was the worse Cake I've ever had. And yes I've had the American Classic German Cake before. I didn't like it because I hate Coconut. But my Parents liked it. This Cake however I'm sure if they tried they would hate as well. But yeah it's probably just my taste preference here. They wouldn't keep it on the Menu if it wasn't selling well. And yeah one of these Days I have to revisit that Place. Was there for an Interview and got myself some Food while there. It was a very German Restaurant. Which I happen to know a bit/some German so I figure it was worth a try.
