Hey guys, just wanted to take the time to thank you all for watching this video as much as it has! Never would've guessed this video ever have over 10s of thousands of views, that's insane! Thank you, at the time of writing this, finals are almost over with, and with summer coming up I will have some more free time to work on more projects. Here's some of a few I've been thinking of: -Other Favorite Post Hardcore Bands of Mine -Top 50 Post-Grunge Songs -Signature Songs of Different Rock/Metal/Punk Genres and Subgenres -Top 10 Favorite Albums -Top 200 Pop Punk Songs (This would take awhile to make though) And even post some guitar covers of both my original songs as well as some of my favorite bands too! Thanks guys, take care.

Dude I listened to a lot of ADTR and pther postcore stuff in my teens, then moved on to metalcore/hardcore. A few weeks back I saw Casey at a show and the whole postcore thing hit me like a freight train. It hit a musical spot I had long forgotten and oh my, I've got a long list of music to rediscover. Cheers for the video, great bands.

+Matthew Ediker Thanks Matthew. Trust me, if there's one genre I know better than any else, it would be this one (and maybe perhaps Pop-Punk as well). I have been so busy with school work I haven't had any time to work on any new videos as of late. I hope to make at Top 200 Post Hardcore and 200 Pop Punk Songs list here sometime over Christmas Break when I have an entire month off from school. And since my latest strike was removed from my even more popular Top 20 Panic At The Disco Songs, I can make these videos much longer than 15 minutes. Which is what I intend to do. Oh, and I also hope to make another PH video which includes bands that I didn't include on this list. Because there are TONS of them.

kevin kyrri Thanks Kevin. I really appreciate the comment. This is the genre I probably know best, hence why it is my favorite. I know a few that seem to be absent from the list, most notably Alexisonfire, Thursday, Blessthefall, Chiodos, Adair, LoveHateHero, The Ghost Inside, and Of Mice & Men. As for personal tastes, I do enjoy these bands, but not to the extent as the bands I have listed. As far a top 20 Most Influential PH bands, that could very well be a list I will make in the future. I will probably separate that into 2 separate lists though. Those from the 80-90s, and those from the 90-00s. I am incredibly busy with school though that takes up almost all my free time and that is why so little videos have come out in awhile. I am still currently working on my Top 200 Pop Punk, and Post Hardcore Songs every chance I can get. Hang in there. I will be determined to get these all uploaded at some point!

@Dakota Davis: Not to get too technical, but both ADTR and CNCC can be put into at least 3 or 4 different genres of music. Post-Hardcore, Easycore, Pop Punk and even Melodic Hardcore. While Easycore does a great job at describing the band's musical characteristics, I don't really think it's an established genre as of yet due to the lack of major bands present in the genre. The only other Easycore band I can think of off the top of my head is Abandoned By Bears, and they get blamed by being a so called "CNCC clone" rather than being compared stylistically by their musical characteristics. Post-Hardcore can also describe the band's music, but this often gets confused because of the bands' Pop Punk nature, especially in their choruses. However, you have to remember that within the Post Hardcore genre itself, that there are different styles of it if you will. We Came As Romans and Hawthorne Heights sound completely different in their musical characteristics, however; both bands are still labeled as Post-Hardcore. You see? We Came As Romans has a much heavier (Metalcore-esque) style of music than Hawthorne Heights more Pop Punk-ish nature. Don't worry too much about it. It's gets really complicated around this area, however; I am fairly confident that I'm correct about my statements. Thanks for the positive feedback! As soon as I get some free time I will be working on much more longer, elaborate projects.

@NoNamedNobody692
@NoNamedNobody692 10 лет назад
That's perfectly okay. Really, I only enjoy their first album, It's very raw, energetic, loud, and abrasive. When I listen to Post Hardcore, I want to listen to songs and artists that will evoke emotion out of me in some way. You can get a basic understanding out of that by carefully listening to the parts of songs I choose for my countdowns. I personally didn't feel that with their 2nd album. Their 3rd album was a step in the right direction but never hit home with me. I'll probably re-update this list in about a year or so anyway when I have even more time to reflect on this one. I'm still currently working on my Top 200 Post Hardcore Songs countdown and it'll probably be till mid-August until I'll have that uploaded.

SFLOVER94 That's not the point I saw your disclaimer but I didn't care for it because none of these bands sound anything like real post-hardcore bands. This is not to say I do not enjoy bands with lead singers who have incredible range (take FFTL, Chiodos, Agraceful, and Alesana as examples) it is just that the music these bands make accompany the vocals in such a way that make me appreciate what they do more so than bands such as PTV or SWS. Anyone care to explain the difference between all the genres for me? Like metalcore, post-hardcore etc? I don't know much about it but I listen to a bunch of bands like Rise Against, ADTR, Skillet, FFDP, Chevelle, Beartooth, Chiodos etc.
@NoNamedNobody692
@NoNamedNobody692 9 лет назад
Ryan Ibana Sure Ryan. I could get very descriptive here if you'd like, but I'll start general and if you have further questions, feel free to ask. Here's a list of genres associated with the bands you mentioned above, as well as Post-Hardcore and Metalcore. I will explain some unique characteristics between the two latter genres respectively. Rise Against- Usually Melodic Hardcore/Alternative Rock, but more generally just a Punk-Influenced Rock band. ADTR- Characteristically defined as a Post-Hardcore band; however, they are also heavily influenced by Pop Punk, as well as Emo (the genres of the 90s) Skillet- Usually considered to be a Alternative Rock/Post-Grunge and/or Alternative Metal band. Often compared to Three Days Grace and other related bands FFDP- A little more difficult to define properly. Often seen as a Groove Metal band, but Heavy Metal works equally as well. Chevelle- A definitive band of the Post-Grunge movement. Chevelle are definitely influential in popularizing the genre along with Seether, Staind, Nickelback, and Breaking Benjamin. Beartooth- A very stylistic Metalcore band that often carry characteristics of different genres Chiodos- A classic example of Post-Hardcore of the early-mid 2000s. Not included on this list. Now, PH and Metalcore are oftentimes difficult to characterize properly due to the overlap of many similar characteristics between the two genres. The easiest way I can explain this is that PH is a very directive influence from the Hardcore Punk genre of the mid-late 80s, this is indicative by the bands reflected in this list. Metalcore, on the other hand, is more directly influenced by the New Wave of American Heavy Metal movement of the mid-late 1990s. PH often utilizes a balance between Singing/Screaming respectively, but more specifically, it may be used to intensify a song at a particular point Metalcore often utilizes Screaming much more than in PH, with interwoven Choruses that may involve singing, or at least singing at a given point in the song. A good, clear way to hear the differences between the two genres respectively, is to listen to the following: For Post-Hardcore ------------------------------- Senses Fail- "You're Cute When You Scream" Stutterfly- "Gun In Hand" Silverstein- "Smashed Into Pieces" For Metalcore ------------------------ August Burns Red- "Composure" Bring Me The Horizon- "The Comedown" Miss May I "Forgive and Forget" If you have any other questions just let me know!

Metalcore has more screaming. Post-Hardcore is usually about 10-50% screams 50-90% singing. Metalcore is about 75-100% screaming 0-25% singing. Deathcore(excluding betraying the martyrs) are 100% screams. and Death Metal is always 100% screams Electronicore is Post-Hardcore with electronic music mixed in.

wrong picture for underaoths song when the sun sleeps. Dallas was still lead singer at that time

Yes. I am aware of this. However, I think that the picture I chose is the band's most memorable lineup, so I went with that. I used "When The Sun Sleeps" because it's one of my favorite Underoath songs, even though Dallas was the lead singer during that time period.

This has nothing to do with Post-Hardcore . Pop-emo-metalcore-poser something , but not Post-Hardcore Try some "drive like Jehu" or "Daniel striped tiger " Or.. like true Post-Hardcore

You do realize that genres develop and evolve over time right as new generations of bands come to the forefront? PH in the 80s with bands like Fugazi, and Rites of Spring sounds different from the 90PH bands of Jawbreaker, Embrace and At the Drive In. Which in turn sound different than the 2000s PH scene which in turn sound a lot different than the PH scene of the 2010s with bands like La Dispute, Tigers Jaw, Pianos Become The Teeth, Sleeping with Sirens, etc which in turn sound much different the current PH scene of bands. Which are much more hip-hop/trap/emo-rap influenced Don’t be so dogmatic in your assessments. It’s extremely toxic.

+EscapeTheEnigma Well, that's good for you on your part, but maybe not for everyone as a whole. These bands on the this countdown were highly influential in the development and movement of the 2nd wave of Post-Hardcore. Most of them date back from the early 2000s. DRUGS, on the other hand, lasted for approximately 2 years, released one album that's relatively mixed in opinions by a decent size of PH fans. This is not to say that bands with only album, or a few songs can't be on the list (see Saosin or As Cities Burn for example) but these songs/albums became either highly influential and/or popular within the genre as it being vindicated by history. For example, "Seven Years" by Saosin is considered by many fans to be THE quintessential Post-Hardcore song that really exemplifies what PH is all about. In it's tone, musicality, lyrics, dynamics, and so forth. However, this is just my sole opinion though. Yours may differ of course.

+The Dream Is Dead I actually listened to OLN back when they first came out onto the scene and Trevor was still in high school. I've got to say, they've improved quite a lot ever since. BTF just barely missed my list. Since I personally enjoy Craig better with the band (I still enjoy Beau of course though) there were only a couple of songs on their first album that really stood out to me, but just didn't have the impact on me quite like these other bands have respectfully. I know BTF are quite influential for a ton of people out there, and that's wonderful regardless.

The Froth Those were "iffy" choices for me. Because they're bands that are "on the border" so to speak as the new wave of PH bands were becoming more prominent as the 90s turned into the 00s. That's why I specified at the beginning This is why you don't see older PH bands like "ATDI", "Fugazi", "Jawbreaker", "The Promise Ring", "Embrace" and other such bands. Hope this makes some sort of sense.

Adam Stephens I can't see many people labeling SOTY's music in the realm of Post-Hardcore. Maybe somewhere along the lines of Alternative Rock or Pop Rock, but nothing in particular sticks out to me that would make me see them as a PH band.

Stony Fuzzball I think they’re an okay band. I don’t consider them to be anything special however. I wouldn’t consider them to be great enough to earn a spot on my list personally, but I listened to them occasionally back in the day. Especially when Trevor was younger. I could probably think of at least 50 or so PH bands from the 2000s off the top of my head that could potentially make my list (including the ones that did too), narrowing them down to just 25 was pretty difficult, and even more so putting them in some sort of order. Some ones not on my list here, that many people seemed to be bothered by most, include: -Alexisonfire -Blesstherall -Of Mice & Men (early) -Emarosa -Lovehatehero -Enter Shikari -Stutterfly -In Fear & Faith Among others.
