Bring your bow and ride your most cowardly horse when you want to hunt animals like cougar, panther and giaguaro. Find these animals and DON'T get off your horse, these animals will scare your horse and buckle you off the horse but, here is the tactic the animal will keep their distance before attacking you again and you have enough time to activate dead eye and aim for the head. Congrats, you just killed these animals safely
@@supersaiyannerd Or you can just use a Predator Bait, run back to the road and jump onto the big rocks at the crossroads. The panther will show up and you can kill it, because even if it sees you, it can't climb rocks (at least in the game). The same goes for cougars and wolves. Make a manual save point before you try, just in case it's not a 3 star panther. If it isn't, reload the save.
crafting these saddles is fun and challenging. I ended up buying all thr saddles at the stable withstirrup. Till now I have only crafted the panther trail and Alligator skin saddle.
Started getting back into rdr2. Found your channel the other day. Like how you put together the videos. Subscribed and been watching a bunch of vids. Got an 8 pack and fresh tin of chewing tabaccer for tonight. Gonna be doing some hunting tonight cowboys
8:00 you can also sell the skinned carcass itself for a few extra bucks. It's quite useful at the very beginning of the game when you have jack diddly squat in your satchel
Currently at that exact panther hunting spot, need a perfect skin for my satchel upgrades then I will get another for the saddle trying for as much as possible while in chapter 2.
Lol I always get up on the bigger rock and I've literally never had that panther spawn behind me when I put out bait. I always grab the alligator saddle right off since its the easiest to get.
I also do the same. First times used a scoped springfield, headshot when the panther starts to head for the bait (usually I also use a white tail deer with the bait) and here we have a pristine panther pelt with no sweat
yeah i exclusively use the panther and snake saddle. i match the lighter panther saddle with darker horses and the darker snake saddle with lighter horses.
It's actually the tallest rock of the group, if you stand on that one it can't get you. As I was watching I was hollering "shit man wrong rock jump to the next one, or you're toast!" 😅 good stuff
I use the Beaver and Alligator saddle. Why didn't I ever know you can sell the whole carcass? I thought you had to skin it for it to register properly.
Lmfao, I laughed out loud when that guy was talking shit to u when you threw the carcass onto the horse, and for some reason he had beef with you like most NPC’s do, even tho u didn’t do shit to him or say anything. I laughed when you shot him in the head immediately, because that’s exactly what I would’ve done/have done before. Idk what’s up with random npc’s at times wanting all the smoke, all for nothing, that shit gets annoying sometimes! Was in valentine, greeting npc’s with half honor level and this one dude pushed me and then punched me after I pressed defuse 2 or 3 times. Didn’t even say a word to the man, didn’t have a bounty on me.. that was the most random shit I’ve seen on the game before, it had me so PISSED! Ended up with a $300 bounty 🤦♂️ fking hate valentine npc’s sometimes, all they do is snitch on you for any little thing.
If anyone has balls & skills then they should try bolt action rifle 😂😂😂 (jokes aside it has best damage) it killed legendary bear with 3 shots to the head.
Man I ran the beaver roper saddle a long time. I did a trapper completionist and made all the saddles. The only saddles I actually ended up using was exactly these three! Some horses look better with the beaver roper. I also think the black bear one looks cool. It was the first one I ran with.
Very cool vid. I have alligator saddle but I'm going for the panther one now for sure. I love the looks of it. Great shooting by the way. Thanks for this
I went and shot the beaver , took it to the trapper and on the way up the hill i got attacked by a cougar but was able to get him , ruined the pelt defending my self . When i approached the trapper a grizzly attacked me. Lived thru that barely and got the beaver saddle.!! Man that was intense 😅😮 Another awesome post. Thanks for this. 😊
Love your videos! Just wanted to add something else in case it wasnt clear from the video - you can double up on trapper gold by skinning animals and selling both the carcass and the skin! At least on PC. For example in your video, after you skin the panther, you can then stow the skin on your horse, go back and pick up the skinned carcass and stow that on your horse also! When you get to the trapper, you can now sell them both. I've had panther carcasses (florida panther or regular panther, dont remember which, NOT legendary panther) sell for $17.50, and then the skin selling for an additional $6.50. Seems like chump change but could be useful to new players or those looking to max out $$. This obviously only works with animals whose carcasses you can pick up to stow on your horse. You can't pick up carcasses of bigger animals like bears/boars/etc.
Panther is the best stat wise. Stamina core drain rate is the most important stat imo. Horse health is irrelevant as with most horses a few bullets too many and they're all dead. Obviously bigger horses can take a little more damage, but with that said still the horses stamina is what matters over the long haul of this game traversing this map a million times over. Edit: Rattlesnake saddle is good too but screw trying to find 10 perfect snake skins and mark their heads just perfectly and blah blah blah. No thanks lol Bear Dakota is a good one as well and looks great on the Dark Bay Turkoman 🐎
First one I’ve always gone for has been panther, (goes great with the silver dapple Missouri foxtrotter) but recently I gave in and went on the (very tiresome) 10 snake hunt for the rattlesnake saddle. I just like the look of it much more than the beaver, since the colors work a lot more cohesively with my Turkoman.
Panther saddle comes with best stirrups. Put the same stirrups on on the most expensive saddles and you are only talking 2% difference in some areas if your horse is lvl 4 and you know how to ride you’ll never be able to tell the difference. Match the saddle to the horse with best stirrups you can’t go wrong. Or ride tan horses. There is no best saddle or horse.
I've always gone for the Panther Trail Saddle for the early game (Ch2) level up. Also need a second Panther for the satchel upgrades. So I go hunting for two panthers. Incidentally, you're standing on the wrong rock. Stand on the biggest one. The panther can't get you up there. In fact it prowls around the base of the boulder looking at you giving you plenty of time to get a good kill shot. You've given me the idea of crafting all the Trapper saddles. I think I'll do that.
The panther saddle looks nice as a standalone thing, only problem is that it only looks good on the blood bay thoroughbred that you are showcasing it with. Rattlesnake and beaver saddles are more than good enough, and also combines better with all other horses.
Unpopular opinion, but the Beaver saddle is best, because it is the easiest to get. Both the rattlesnake and panther take too much time compared to shooting a few beaver at Lake Owanjila, north of Strawberry. I will agree that as far as looks the others pop, but playing a scavenger hunt for snakes, or running around a jungle looking for a p-offed kitty who can 1 hit you, are both time consuming . For the beaver I jus grab a varmint rifle with scope, head to the Lake. Pop. Pop. And back to the trapper near Strawberry, then to the nearby stable. If we talk numbers as far as saddle bonuses, yes, the beaver saddle looses. What I am saying is that it is easier, and better to get the beaver saddle first, then work on the other two after.
@@RockworthRDR2 I got a great one for you. Semi Auto Shotgun. Too easy not to get asap. Perfect as a counter ambush weapon. Deadly against legendary animals using slugs. God mode against them with explosive slugs. I have an idea for you, for a future video. I've played the game on day one, beat it within a month, but I feel, and especially for those just starting or coming back, that the game can be played better, as in a better start to success. How would you go about it? Free, powerful weapons? Lancaster? Check. Semiauto shotgun. Double check. Double Schofield glitch. Check too. But trinkets and talismans? Finding a little bit of treasure to save for later game? Using the best wild horses to save other horses for late game? These are questions that a new player wouldn't know to ask.
@@nealleseberg2236 If you firebottle Hosea's horse, after you follow him back from the Legendary bear mission(Save before the mission), you can get the Rolling Block Rifle very early in the game. From there, I did the Double Schofield glitch and went very bullish and killed most of the legendary animals on my way to getting ALL the trinkets and talismans.
@@nealleseberg2236 Hosea's Rolling Block was nice. I oiled it, then B-lined straight to the Valentine gunsmith for the leather wrap on the stock plus all the other necessary upgrades. The wrap use to protect guns from corrosion, and I'm not sure if it was patched or not, but I still do it. Killing Hosea's horse, Silver Dollar, was hard, because the horse didn't do anything to me and was innocent. It was tough for a few minutes, no lie(Same with the Rare Double barrel Shotgun carrying Hermit in Annesburg or the DB Shotgun at Catfish Jackson's. Sometimes the weapons don't feel worth harming an innocent NPC). Was it worth it? Marginal Yes. Would I prefer to not kill a horse for it? Bigger Yes. The utility of it early in the game is immense. With regular rifle rounds you can kill deer in the area to the east of Horseshoe Overlook, and snipe ambushers from out of their range(I still and will always use either the Semi Auto Shotgun or Lancaster Repeater openly carried as a counter-ambush gun), and when you get the explosive rounds... it's a rocket launching sniper rifle. I use it mainly for keeping the camp overstocked with food when I'm out for days or weeks at a time. The range is long enough that I sniped a Pronghorn once and the one stanging next to it, did not hear the shot. Honor is easy to gain in this game. Hop on the trolley in Saint Denis and just greet and say Hi to everyone on the street as the trolley drives you around the city.
@@nealleseberg2236Silver Dollar does respawn. I say to use fire bottles because I used dynamite the first time, and it didn't work for some reason. I thought it had been patched as I heard some say it was. Saw on another video that another used fire bottles, gave it a try and it worked. I did that a month ago. Also, since you have it. make it a point to always stock up on splint point ammo on all categories of guns. While it seems labor/time intensive at first, it actually let's you increase the ammount of available ammo you can carry. Not like any of us are going to ever run out of ammo in a fight, but keeping a few extra hundred helps, and even moreso with long term hunting expeditions. Do you need the details for the Double Schofield glitch?
panther saddle all day long. just sweet and it's so cool. visually I also like the crocodile saddle, the beaver saddle and the black bear saddle. I don't even buy, since game play x2, anymore "stable" saddles anymore, don't even look at them.
The snakeskin saddle is disappointing, after getting 10 fabulously coloured skins you end up getting a dun coloured saddle, should have been way more coloured, but I still like it for some horses.
I could see beaver if you run horses like thoroughbreds and whatnot; however, as I exploited a mission to get silver dapple pinto Missouri Fox trotter early the stamina is more vital to me personally making the panther saddle nigh unbeatable.
Hey, you also have the same pending missions with me, M and J, I assume they are Micah in jail and John rustling missions? I put those 2 on hold as well while I'm completing challenges.
Tbh I usually go for the panther around Lagras at night because that one is a 3 star panther most of the time. I don't usually go for the one south east of braithwaite manor bc that panther isn't always 3 stars. Most of the Time for me it's 1 star or 2 stars and quite rare to get a 3 star so yeah
My question is, and I’ve never seen it answered, are the saddles better on different horses? Like for low stamina horses, get a bigger stamina boost saddle? If that makes sense
I've used many saddles in my numerous play throughs. I make the beaver one first as it's easier to get but some of the others are much better looking. I end up making a few since I like hunting a lot in game and depending on which horse I'm using that determines the saddle. With a good horse the stamina seems much more important to me. I'm the type that could give two shits about speed in a horse to be honest and prefer bravery as most important. I hate the spooked, uncontrolled horse in gun fights and getting tossed with every nearby predator. It's nice that there are many options since we all play differently.
I choose a new saddle every time. Some times change the color of the horses hair to match. The cougar saddle looks cool but I like them all. I had fun chasing down the snakes too.
i'm not getting a panther spawning in lemoyne, i have just started chapter 3 do i need to play through more missions to unlock it or something? or is there a good time of day?
The beaver has better stats, just put the bait on the road and enter in the water the panther can’t go inside the water and seats in the front of you … perfect kill 🤣🤣
The beaver roping saddle is the best for beginners. You don't have to hunt a panther, which as a beginner could be challenging. You don't have to hunt ten snakes, which as a beginner could be challenging. You just take one shot at a three star beaver's head with a varmint, which a five year old can do. And it's subjective, but that's the best looking saddle in the whole game.
@@RockworthRDR2 there's a workflow for me ... Get to chapter 2, do the missions necessary to trigger Hosea's legendary bear hunting mission, which also gives you the stables and saddle access, finish that mission and stay to hunt the bear, take the pelt to the nearby trapper, then hunt the legendary beaver nearby, but before that carefully take out a normal beaver for the beaver roping saddle. Skinning animals, if you're a beginner, is also important because it builds dead eye.
I feel like the only stat that ACTUALLY matters is the -50% stamina drain which is the same for all the trapper saddles. You should be feeding your horse more often than the -26% core drain happens anyway. The stamina regen stat is actually nice too because I think that affects the encouragement you can do every 15 seconds or so which effectively gives a horse infinite stamina.
