Huh ... recently started Austrians just because I like the "look" without really looking up any of the rules - and lo and behold, their "basic" infantry units are actually good. :D
Nice assessments. The most deadly unit I’ve used was the British Guard infantry. They were large units and they were like a rock. Column after column smashed against them and they barely moved!
Interesting, we usually play scenarios so never really thought of it this way. Luckily I have a box of Household cavalry waiting to be painted, so it might just have jumped up the pile a little bit now ;)
Wait, how could you not include Grenadiers a Cheval of the imperal guard from Clash of Eagles? You can make them large so you have TWELVE attack dice, heavy cavalry D3, Reliable and they are only cavalry in the game that has Elite 4+ (only cavalry in the game having elite at all) making them extremely reliable. Sure, british guard dragoons can get 8 hits if they are lucky on the charge. Guard grenadiers get that statistically. It is really weird that you did not include them here
@@NapoleonicWargaming Thats a harder question, I think i would put british guard infantry on second place. It's a very solid infantry (and indistinguishable from line infantry by uniform) with great nation rules. This made them crush my french columns more than one. On the third place i would put cuirassiers of any kind. People love to field them in large numbers and if they get to any infantry from the side its dead. Honorable mention to unit od dice makers, for all those 1s i rolled on morale save
No! No! No! The Blues and Royals is a, relatively, new amalgamation. They were at this time the Horse Guards. The blue uniform comes from the original regiment, the Earl of Oxford’s Blues. Calling them the Blues and Royals would be the same as me calling your beloved ‘Skins’ the 5th Royal Inniskillen Dragoon Guards. As the joke goes it’s a good job they didn’t amalgámate with the 4th Dragoon Guards
